  1. Yeah right Germans can't wear school uniform

I don't like nuts. I like coconut flavoured things but I wouldn't eat an actual coconut.
  3. They always make sure that the girls wear their blazers but no one seems to care about their skirts haha My school was strange. My maths teacher used to constantly tell off a girl [like pretty much every lesson] for wearing low cut tops. The strange thing was that her tops weren't even low cut, you couldn't see anything and other girls who wore similar stuff never got told off for it. He didn't do anything about it, he just kept mentioning it.
  4. On your back, side or front? side Alone, with a partner? Alone most of the time, my partner lives in a different city :( In a tiny bed, or a king sized? Single bed, I don't like it. I've always had a double bed since I moved out of my parents' house Listening to music, or just silence? Silence Do you sleep well? Depends, I don't sleep well when I'm stressed Do you sleep with anyone who snores? No
  5. Well the uniform itself isn't slutty but a lot of girls wear skirts that are far too small for them. Most Sixth Formers wear short bodycon skirts.
  6. I went to school in Switzerland and we didn't have to we didn't have to wear a uniform either but they would have sent me straight home if I had gone to school wearing what some girls at the school where I teach wear. Even the younger girls can get away with wearing makeup as it looks natural.
  7. My mum usually takes down the Christmas tree and the decorations on the 7 January.
  8. I'm graduating this year and I still have no idea what I want to do. I mainly went to uni because I wanted to move out of my parents' [not the best idea, I know]. I now feel like I'm doing the wrong degree even though I get good marks and I enjoy most of my lectures. One of my jobs is quite well-paid and I think it will be difficult to get a better-paid job when I finish uni. Keeping my job isn't really an option because my workplace couldn't offer me more hours but I'd find it quite frustrating if I had to accept a job that pays less than my current salary. I'm thinking about doing a Masters or applying for a graduate trainee programme.
  9. Graduate from university and do a Masters or find a proper job.
  10. That it is a bad idea to have breakfast in town on new year's day. Everywhere was closed so we had Mc Donald's for breakfast.
  11. Same here. No presents for me :(
  12. Happy belated birthday!
  13. yes yes yes yes no no yes

She'd get used to it very quickly.

Yes, it is. A lot of teaching assistants live with teachers. http://www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-fla.htm
  16. Yeah because we were very close friends. It wasn't a drunken one night stand, I slept with him several times. Even if I didn't tell her what happened between us, she'd find it very strange that we talked about those kind of things. She told me what he was like when they first met and how happy she was at the time and he was exactly the same with me. I don't think it would be fair on him to tell her about it though.

I'd try to get a job as a teaching assistant in the UK. It's better paid and you've got more freedom. I might be biased though, I worked as a nanny for a little while and I was a bit unlucky with the family. The mother was constantly out and the children's dad was abroad so I was working from 6am - 10pm 5 days a week and didn't even get national minimum wage. I left after a month. :\
  18. That's what's worrying about it but there isn't much you can do. I've got a really awkward situation with one of my best friends because I slept with her boyfriend before she met him. I still fancied the guy when they first got together but I couldn't imagine being in a serious relationship with him because I was convinced he wouldn't be faithful [he even told me that he thought it was ok to cheat on your partner in certain situations]. I met her trough him and we became very good friends. She started to discuss her relationship problems with me but I always thought it would be wrong to tell her what happened between her boyfriend and me. I'm still not sure if I did the right thing.
  19. Do you kind of like her [even though you'd never do anything with her] or are you just worried about your friend/ his family? I'd pretend it didn't happen, it isn't gonna help anyone if you say something. Edit Sorry I missed your last post.
  20. I don't think it's gonna me a culture shock but it depends on where you're from really. It might be a big change if you're from a small town. One of my friends moved to London recently and she found it difficult to make friends. She said people weren't as friendly as up north. Another friend who lived in London for three years said the same. You'd probably be able to make friends at work though so this might not be an issue.
  21. It shouldn't be too bad hopefully, we're not planning on staying here for very long. That's why I didn't want to organise a house party!
  22. We're gonna have a few drinks in our house, then we'll head into town. My housemates aren't back yet so my boyfriend and his friends and a few other friends who don't live here will be able to stay at mine. It should be fun!
  23. Soft pretzels are much nicer. I don't like the big hard pretzels but the small ones are alright. And yeah, I do eat the leftover salt.
