  1. I know they've already made cuts but surely giving them less funding isn't gonna improve the situation. As for international students, they already pay ridiculous amounts. I think most of them pay like £9000 a year but they get charged £25000 if they want to do medicine at Oxford. I see your point about British universities being for British students but I don't think it would be in their interest if less foreign students came to Britain. British students would have to get charged a lot more if oversea students didn't pay ridiculously high fees. Btw It's weird how Scottish universities are free for EU students but not for English students. I guess a lot of them might choose to come to Scotland if your universities remain free.
  2. I'm gonna apply as well. I don't live anywhere near Newcastle (I actually live in Liverpool- I'm lucky, I know) but my boyfriend lives in Sunderland, that will do. I really hope I can get tickets for one of the shows, don't mind which one really.
  3. They've got every right to complain. Fees are already higher than in most other European countries. I spend 4-6 hours a week at uni (we don't have a session every week for one my modules) and I'm only in for like 22 weeks a year. I'm a full-time student but I spend more time at my second part-time job than at uni. I feel like I'm already paying a lot for what I'm getting. I believe that higher fees will stop people from going to university and it's mostly gonna affect student from a poorer background. It's not just about fees though, universities are also gonna get less funding which is likely to affect the quality of teaching. There will be less staff and bigger classes and universities are likely to drop subjects. I know a couple of people who went down to London and they said that it was mostly a peaceful protest. Most of the people who kicked in the windows weren't actully students either. It's a shame that a few people gave everyone else who was involved a bad name.
  4. Its alright with lemon and honey. I only really drink it when I've got a cold though.
  5. Yorkshire Tea
  6. I know, can't believe it! My boyfriend's from Sunderland so I can use his card. I first thought you actually had to live in Newcastle.
  7. They're very strict at my work, not sure if I'd get away with that. My mum's off on Friday so I'll ask her to do it for me. I just realised that I can apply for the Newcastle one as well.
  8. You can only apply for tickets if you live in Liverpool or Newcastle (or know someone who lives there) I think. :\ Why does it have 2pm? I'm working till 3. :( I need to try to get someone to do it for me but most people I know are working/ at uni.
  9. Sounds like she didn't do it to him. She was just talking about him while she did it. It's still weird though. Was she drunk?
  10. My housemate woke up so many times when my alarm went off last year. We lived in a house with very thin walls and I had to get up at 5:30 three times a week because I was on placement in Manchester. I felt so guilty. :embarrassed:
  11. I don't think it's morally wrong to be in an open relationship IF both people agree with it. I'd still stay away from her though. If she wasn't lying, she's probably just looking for sex. And as Reilly said, if she's gonna cheat on her boyfriend with you, she's likely to do the same to you.
  12. That's the reason why I haven't registered as an organ donor. There was an advert on TV a couple of days ago and it really made me think about it. I'm not sure if I could do it though. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I'm genuinely scared.
  13. Petit Prince replied to Reilly's topic in The Lounge
Not really. I used to go out with someone who smoked weed pretty much every day (and has done for years) and it didn't really affect his everyday life. The problem was that he was sort of addicted to it, so he'd get in a bad mood if he couldn't get any weed for whatever reason. There is no scientific evidence that it causes mental illness. http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths
  14. Yes, I did. :embarrassed: Corrected it now. Anyway hope you see my point. Take That are successful and their ticket sales are record breaking, whether you like it or not.
  15. Most ticket websites were down for hours and hardly anyone got through on the phone so it wasn't a case of just registering for tickets. I very much doubt that people would spend hours trying to get tickets if they're not even sure whether they'll be going to the show. Robbie Williams played at Knebworth for three nights back in 2003 and had an audience of about 375000 people.
  16. I'm going to see Take That, can't wait!
  17. Cats I'm also really scared of flying.
  18. Yeah you're right. I don't think I disliked the whole soundtrack, just that one song and the fact that all my friends started listening to Celine Dion after they had watched Titanic. :embarrassed:
  19. Haha me too, I fell asleep in the cinema when we watched the first one :uhoh2:
  20. I didn't understand why everyone fancied Leonardo DiCaprio and I didn't like Celine Dion's soundtrack either. I watched the film when it was on TV later and I can't say I particularly liked it.
  21. I'd be the same to be honest. One of my friends (she's nearly 30 though) is going out with a guy who's got two daughters who are 16 and 18. They live with their mother but they're a very important part of his life and they spend a lot of time at their (my friend and her boyfriend's) flat. She gets on well with the girls and she seems to be alright with it. I kind of admire her for it, I don't think I could deal with this kind of situation.
  22. Proper snow is worse to be honest! It turned Liverpool city centre into an ice rink last winter  It wasn't as bad in Switzerland though because people know how to deal with snow.
  23. I get that but this doesn't really explain why it only happens to guys. :\ I don't mind darkness so much, I just hate those rainy, windy days. And I don't really like snow either.
