german lessons
Hehe I remember a French guy trying to be poetic in German. That was quite funny. He didn't even understand me when I asked him what his name was.

New law in Florida?
it causes no danger. the danger is already their, its not going to cause anyone to commit a crime. because people who are willing to kill or use a gun already dont care about laws. if im a killer im going to kill if its against the law or not. it boils down to letting us protect ourselves against people who kill. But what if a person doesn't want to kill anybody and the other person feels threatend and then he/ she uses the gun? explain more? the person is just attacking or robbing? i take it thats what you mean, like someone raping or just robbing someone. then oh well. i mean if the guy had no intention on killing me just raping me, and i were to shoot him, thats that. he would get whats coming to him. the fact remains teh same this law allows us to protect ourselves. a person robs anotehr person and gets killed for it, then he got whats coming to him. and what are the people sapposed to do, ask the person "kind sir are you trying to kill me or justt rob me?" crying out loud, it doesnt work that way, they have to protect themselves even if the person intention is not to kill someone. I mean when it comes down to it, your not going to have a chance to determine if the person intentions are for killing or not, you must act and do whatever you can to survive and this laws allows that. It doesn't have to be that the other person intends to rape you or to rob you or whatever. Don't you think there are a lot of people that misjudge the situation? There are people who are very scared without anything happening. There are people who feel threatend by everyone they don't know. For example if there's anyone walking around near your house he could want to rob you or even kill you, so it might be better to react before he does? But maybe he doesn''t intend anything at all... Or people that abuse this law to justify a murder? If the person's killed and there is know witness, how wil be prooved that the killer wasn't threatend?

No, I don't agree. I mean it becomes kinda normal for some people to deal with weapens. I know that you can kill somebody otherwise, but it takes more to beat somebody to beat somebody to death or to stab him. to you maybe. but killing someone is killing someone, if your willing to do with it a gun, most would be more then willing to use something else if no gun was available. guns dont kill people, people kill people. the fact remains teh same, take away teh gun and people will just use something else. guns are not the problem, society and the human race is. Sure you're right that the gun itself doesn't kill anybody. And if someone really wants to kill someone, he'll probably do it without a gun as well. But with a gun you can kill somebody a lot faster and the chance is smaller that this person is able to react or that other people notice what you doing.

Well, I think I can only speak one well and that's German. I think you are lucky that you don't have to learn so many languages in the USA. You can go to a Gymnasium after you have finished school which takes nine years. The Gymnasium takes four years and if you pass the final exams you get the Matura. And when I got the Matura I'll have to study five years again. Our system seems to be very different.

I guess by Matura you mean degree? Have you declared a major? You might be able to apply for a co-op related to your major while you're in school. If your school has a career department you can probably go there and ask. As an engineer it's something I basically had to do so that when I graduate I would be able to get a job. Like you said not many people want to hire a student with no professional experience in certain fields such as engineering. Well, our school system is different to the English or American. To get the Matura we have to do exams in many diffrent subjects (German, French, English, Spanish, Mathematics, Biology, Economics, History) When you have the Matura you are not spezialized. You can go to Uni and study every subject you want.

I don't really know what I should be looking for myself. I mean when I leave school I might have a Matura, but I don't have an aprentiship and I have not much profesional experience. I don't think anybody's really looking for a student, at least not for one that just started to study. A friend of mine works in a bar in her free time and I have sometimes helped her out. But I can't do a job like this because I wouldn't earn enough. :/

I absolutely understand this... I think many people feel the same way. :/ I hope your situation gets better soon. :)

Yeah, well I think you are right. Especially if you don't get along well with your parents. Anyway this will cause a lot of problems, when I start studying next year. It's not that I don't wanna work, but I don't know how much time I will have. In our country it depends on your parents salary if you receive any money for your studies, I won't because my parent earn to much. Here your parents have to support me, but I've been already told that they won't. My mum said that she would like to support me, but I don't think it's her that makes the decisions. This makes me worried, because it will be very difficult to find a job you earn enough.

Just A WHISPER....
So, I was right. I remember watching this match on TV. Well, I don't really understand what makes internationals so much more interesting for many people. I mean if I'm not interested in a sport, I don't really care if the Swiss team is successful in the World Cup or whatever. But I think it's different about the World Cup in football, because everybody talks about it, especially if it's in your country. That must be amazing... I would have loved to go, but I can't because I have my Matura then. But I probably wouldn't have got a ticket anyway if I think about it what I've heard from people that tried to get tickets. I just hope I can go to the Euro 2008... I have to go now. Have a nice evening!

Yeah, I'm very interested in football. It would be fantastic if Switzerland qualified directly (and not France :P ). But I think they will if they beat Ireland tonight. I think the last time Switzerland played against Germany was before the Euro. Am I right? I think Germany won 2:0.
