  1. "A flock of birds, is how you think of love" - I find this line so interesting. So is that an image that Chris' wife used to describe love? That explains so many lyrics in speed of Sound, UFO, Up with the Birds etc. I also feel that this album puts together other recurring images that Chris has used lyrically. "Stars" for example seem to be his image for love, "and i'll always, look up to the sky, pray before the dawn" which is an interesting point where stars and birds meet.

Such a crucial song in the album too. Its where the reality of whats happened kind of really sinks in. Love that almost heartbeat like pulsing throughout. And the 'got to find yourself alone in this world' is pretty powerful. Also, my god! the chord progressions!
  3. Such a beautiful, complex expression of love for someone. Ahhh. Totally agree. Chris' struggle allows us hopeless romantics some respite in this crazy world.
  4. Yep, it completely is. This is an incredibly personal album: - "This, I guess, is to tell you you're chosen, out from the rest" This album. Its pretty much a love letter to Gwyneth in my opinion. But, its also about letting love someone go BECAUSE you love them, unconditionally. Even if they've moved on. Its a break up album, sure, but its also about the strength of love, and that love does go on, because if you really love someone you don't want any harm to come from them, which is why A Sky Full of Stars and Fly On, are so beautiful. He's realised that hey, Gwyneth is gone, but he's also realised, I still love her and I always will, so I want her to know that. I can keep going. "You're amazing, and I need to improve a bit". So lovely. Ahhh. There were moments where I felt like I was intruding into someone's private life, but by the end, I just wanted to give Chris a hug and say how proud I am of him. aahhhh, gotta love him. Personally, I don't know how Gwyneth hasn't jumped on him yet ... but then, Fly On, is kind of like, letting her go a bit. Ohh, so complex and gorgeous.

Totally agree. Personally, I've been there and wanted the person to lie to me, even lie to myself about someone being the right one for me. However, inevitably, a pang of reality comes in. You think you're going well, all good, I'll just keep going, floating and seeing the world through rose coloured glasses (hence the very poppy sound) and then BAAAAaamaaammMM - Johnny's guitar comes in and wrecks the picture. The very deliberate off key note is the reality that hits us like a ton of bricks and makes us feel uncomfortable, so we bend it back into submission. Really, really great stuff.
  6. Fix you - guitar. or actually, sparks i think. piano...umm...:| i'm going to learn trouble properly tomorrow.
  7. the timing isn't right on that - sorry. but the chords are, so just listen to the song for the timing and maybe you can work out the rest until the sheet music comes.
  8. well i just looked on the guitar sites just to get the chords, and these are those: F#m Bm What if there was no light E D Nothing wrong, nothing right F#m Bm What if there was no time E D And no reason or rhyme D E What if you should decide F#m Bm E (i think the Bm might be a D not sure) That you don't want me there by your side That you don't want me there in your life D Bm Oooh, that's right F#m E Let's take a breath, jump over the side Oooh, that's right how can you know it if you don't even try Oooh, that's righti hope that helps.
  9. well tabs are fairly easy. you just look at the string and then the number shows the fret that your finger has to be in.
  10. X&Y, Fix You, Swallowed In the Sea, Twisted Logic and now Low.

Maybe he's talking about masses of people being together, and people being all around him and everyone is searching for an answer but we can't find it.
  12. Trouble The Scientist Fix You Swallowed by the Sea Amsterdam Warning Sign God put a ... Politik Yellow X&Y Ahhh, ten was not enough. Spies, Twisted Logic, In My Place - too many didn't get in!!!
  13. :O! Hush thy mouth! What if is beautiful. I was a bit bummed that there wasn't the awesome acoustic brilliance in this album, but what is there i think it great anyway. Like what has been said before, no one wants just a recycled ROBTTH or Parachutes. The synths that start Swallowed by the Sea are chilling and extremely atmospheric. They set the song off perfectly. Chilling sure - but not cold. There is plenty of emotion there.

I am saying X very tentatively. I really love Swallowed by the sea and some "Y" songs, but - X has fix you and X&Y and what if... so...i think its gotta be that - by about half a hair.
  15. Patrice replied to Kai's topic in Past Releases
Yeah I agree, there is a bit on Square One i think where Chris does a little ooooOOoo thing that is vertigo-esque. I love low - the bass is great in this song and all X&Y really. Guy's done a great job.
