  1. Thank you so much for sharing the address; very kind of you! I am happy for you that you got such a nice surprise in the mail today!
  2. I just can't help but share (and brag a bit, haha!) with all of my fellow Coldplayers, that my 9-year-old son chose to play Clocks for his piano recital piece. He worked very hard for 2 months learning and practicing and he did fabulously when he performed on Sunday! His piano teacher (seated next to him in the photo) played a few of the background notes, as the version he used was one of the more difficult levels. Needless to say, I was one proud Mom. It was absolutely beautiful.
  3. A million thanks to you for posting this, @I ran away ! I am enjoying listening to this so much!

  6. I am totally with you. What I've been doing lately, just because I oddly hadn't ever taken the time to do it before, is delving into as many B-sides and covers and rare stuff, as much as I can find. Luckily lots of fellow Coldplayers on here have posted video or files of several songs I hadn't been familiar with before. My favorite as of late is their cover of Can't Get You Out of My Head that @Major Cooper posted! I've been listening to it constantly when I go running. My other favorites are the X&Y b-sides (Things I Dont Understand, Proof, World Turned Upside Down, Pour Me, Sleeping Sun, Gravity, How You See The World). Maybe this is something you've already done but if not, I highly recommend it! It makes this down time a bit more bearable. :) It's coming close to the 1 year anniversary of the to AHFOD shows I got to see last year and I have been feeling really thankful that I had such a wonderful experience last year but also really, really sad that I don't get to end my summer in such a wonderful way this year. I am going to get to see Justin Timberlake at the end of September, and while I am super excited for it, it's not nearly as riveting as the lead-up to the Coldplay concerts of last year. Probably because I had waited 17 long years for the opportunity to see Coldplay while I haven't been waiting nearly as long to see JT... but anyway... This wait time for some kind of action from Coldplay is soooooooooooo grueling! I'm glad I have this forum.

  8. Is it typical for a Live tour documentary (or whatever one may want to call it-- "Live 2017"?) to take so long to release after a tour is done? I looked up the Live 2012 and it seemed to come very quickly after the tour was done. It makes me wonder if something is really ever coming.

  13. Thanks so much for sharing this, @MosesTheMarshmallow ! I can't even begin to imagine now awesome this would have been to see live!

  15. All excellent points. I guess that I've always loved X & Y so much that whenever anything even remotely negative is said about it, I just automatically go into Mama Bear mode and get quite defensive ;) I just find it a shame that enough negativity flowed around that album (being Phil-less, bad reviews, etc) that it seems to be a bit of a sour point for them when asked about the time in interviews. It's not that I wish they would have kept people like Brian Eno away or ignored any criticism--bands have to evolve--and I have always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and what happened with that album led to the beauty that is VLV. Do I still prefer X & Y to VLV? Yes. But dang, VLV is a masterpiece. I'll get off my soapbox now, get out of Mama Bear mode and move onto something else. That thing being (and maybe it's been discussed on here already so I am sorry if I am being repetitive): I've been listening to Coldplay's absolute oldest works lately (like, pre-Parachutes) and is it just me or were they trying to sound just like Radiohead? I'm having a hard time saying that I love their super early stuff because I have never liked Radiohead...
  16. There is always a pretty good chunk of time in between albums (this is really the truth for all bands, especially when they do a big tour with an album). It takes a long time for an album to develop, and honestly right now the guys are probably just enjoying some time to be with their families, sleeping, relaxing a bit, racing cars, buying theaters, etc. They only just got done touring last November, basically working their butts off over two years straight for AHFOD. If you look at the time between each of their last albums, this "down" time is not abnormal. I can't find the posts because it was quite a while ago, but a few Coldplayers on here were nice enough to make a timeline of albums and tours (if you were the one to do this, feel free to re-post here!). For album years, they go 2000, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015 (nearly 2016). Plus they did their biggest-ever tour with the latest. It's probably safe to assume it'll be at least another year. As creative as they are I am sure they are drawing inspiration and jotting down ideas right now though.
  17. I completely agree. I have had many conversations with people about Coldplay in the last year, regarding the songs they sang during the AHFOD tour, and more than a handful have said "Oh, that's a Coldplay song?! I didn't even know!" So, I would say there are likely several people out there that really like Coldplay but just don't know it :)
  18. I've been following the discussion regarding the X&Y album, with some suggesting that it doesn't flow well, some suggesting certain songs should have been cut, et cetera. This is all fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion, including Brian Eno who apparently told them that their songs were too long, everything sounded too "the same", etc (am I the only one that got really defensive and almost angry at reading that part of the article?!). I must be weird, because I do not agree with any of this. X&Y has always been my absolute favorite Coldplay album. I love the flow, I love each and every song, I do not feel that any one could be axed. I know it had a hard time from reviewers too... But honestly, X&Y has always been my favorite from beginning to end. I've always felt that it was their "truest" sound, to who they are as a band. I always have thought (and always will feel) that X&Y is freakin' phenomenal. Including the b-sides. Like I said, I must be weird (or really missing something) because this does not seem to be the norm.
  19. Thank you so much for posting this, @Major Cooper !! I loved this song so much when it came out (I was a senior in high school) and I didn't know that Coldplay covered it live! You just made my day :):):)
  20. Welcome, @Deewelch !!
  21. Here's my opinion on the "has Chris had anything fixed" question: The man's like a fine wine. He's getting better with age. Seriously. If he has had anything done it has been very minimal. He is just getting hotter and hotter with age. Much to the pleasure of my eyeballs ;)
  22. What a sweet thing to do!! And seriously great job!
  23. Another super tough one. In my mind it'd be a tie between the two but I'll go with TIDU because I am curious as to how it'll stand up next to another X&Y B-side... Things I Don't Understand vs Gravity
  24. I really want to...but typically it's my weekends that are most busy. I don't know if it's possible to ever have a listening party on a weekday? For most I assume that won't work due to classes and/or work, though...but one day I WILL make it for one!!! ;)
  25. Thanks for organizing this, @I ran away ! I would love to take part but I will be traveling both weekends that are getting the most votes :( In the meantime...have fun talking in the Strawberry Swing, everyone! :viva:
