Long ago I heard Yellow and really liked it but didn't even get to see the music video to "Trouble" till the last year or so. I'm wondering what people think of Ghost Stories however? I really like that album and it feels like revisiting something from long ago. How do the rest of you feel about it? I like to watch the TV special. I like Oceans with the pier. There is a pier a bit like that where I am now and it's one of my favourite places to go by a strange coincidence. love Freya

If there is a reason, other than they don't like it anymore it might be because it says "Everyone I know says I'm a fool to mess with you..." which i guess could have more than one meaning...and isn't something that's always in this story... It's become a bit of a legendary story at this point like fairytales and stuff or like Romeo and Juliet or something like that. Something lost to time. It's just a story about a boy and a girl on a rainy day long ago and the boy ends up running away from her even though she likes him an awful lot and is saying positive things... he just runs away... ...and maybe that's the turning point where things could have been different. In that sense it might be about the worst thing because sometimes people wonder where they took a wrong turning in their life and maybe that was it... or maybe it was before then... who can say. and basically someone makes a "Mistake" and they run away even further and then maybe everything is lost and things go really, really, really bad and they just get worse and worse.... and there doesn't seem to be a way to do anything and everyone keeps hoping for a happy ending of some kind.... but there never is one.... and then maybe the story just fades away into a legend... ...and thats it... The End. It's an old story but I guess it's one that a lot of people still like and write songs about and things but maybe it's a story a lot of people can relate to in one way or another because relationships and love and things can be a difficult thing.... at the best of times and especially in hard times. There are after all so many songs about a boy and a girl on a rainy day and love and something that goes bad. That's my little theory... love Freya

Congratulations! :) Two years is quite a long time but it kind of makes me think of all those Coldplay songs about the passage of time such as Clocks etc, so it seems totally appropriate! Lovely photo and it's great they have a way to do something like that for their fans! Obviously in real life you probably want to check your mail more often, especially if you are trying to do something but it's nice to think that even Coldplay manage to go through their mail every so often! Yes! No I understood. I think Colonel Martin is making a joke. I bet they practiced that song a lot or at least he listened to it a lot (probably used to have it on repeat play) because he seems to know the lyrics really well. He might have fukt himself up doing it however, he sounds like more of a mess when he stops. I know I was. I like his sense of humour though. Being able to laugh helps get you through the dark times. I love you! :grinning::laughing::joy::sob: I couldn't believe that. I was watching it thinking it must be some kind of fake joke. Those who think the universe doesn't do that much should be forced to watch that set of ads. That's one of the worst I've ever seen and I've seen some really bad stuff in my time. Someone should find Chris Martin (where ever he has got to??!!!) and force him to sit down and watch these ads. Tie him to a chair or something like that. The only bit that seemed oddly out of place was the Debenhams advert but I bet it will turn out that Debenhams used to be on Oxford Street which would sort of tie in? I'm not sure though because I'm not posh enough to do my Christmas shopping on Oxford Street! ;) Made me laugh and laugh. Thanks so much for that! :) love Freya

That's funny! I bet a lot of people think that but they can't agree on which 2-3 songs should be cut. ;) This is the trouble with trying to make an album as a single thing. It's hard to make all the songs flow in the right way... ...and also you get really far into recording it and then something happens and you end up doing something different and you can't finish it. Like you are recording your "happy" album... and you stop being happy before you get 42 minutes of music down. It's hard to record an album.... love Freya

I wish I knew what the reason was! I hope it's a good reason too because I sometimes feel like it can't be. I missed years of coldplay because it used to make me cry, but then someone who wanted to hurt me played me lots of it because they loved to see me cry and that made me realise more about the songs and I liked to listen to them more . Although it still makes me cry. Maybe things will work out well somehow. I want to believe. love Freya

I think it comes from the name "Martin" which is a kind of bird... You know... "House Martin", "Sand Martin" etc... There's also the phrase "a little birdie told me" but maybe I'm going to far to say that...

rubber stamped means ink stamps that say things like "IMPORTANT DOCUMENT" to let people know it's not just junk mail or something. It's legal documents. Everyone got served notice from the council. Complicated stuff. Maybe I will be able to appeal as it's not about anything I have done but about what other people have done and the council kind of know that but I'm not sure what exactly is going on. I'll need to speak to the landlord who is never around when you actually want to speak to him, only when he wants you to do something for him! ;) We will see what happens. I have been through so much you wouldn't believe so this is small potatoes in a way! love Freya

It's really great to see all the messages of positivity here and people sharing their stories about the bad stuff. Bad things happen to everyone and a lot of the coldplay songs are about something really bad that happened long ago or "way back"... so maybe that's why people going through stuff feel a connection with the songs. I think it's great that so much of the songs have such a positive message for people too which is maybe not what a lot of people think of when they think of coldplay. Where I am at the moment they have just put rubber stamped envelopes on everyones doors, so it looks like there is another difficult chapter coming up and I might be going quiet again soon but there is hope of something more positive for my situation too so I feel you have to hope for the best and there's often the chance of a more positive outcome in everything. I'd urge everyone to stay positive and to keep on with the struggle in what you are doing in your life and with your life. ...and it's summer now so we don't have to shiver so much! ;) love Freya

Yes it's been a long time (tick-tock) and an album released at a very strange point in time too. (although it seems like it's always a strange point in time... as when someone is doing something... someone else is always doing something else) I think the Brian Eno influence probably makes it even more special and it actually does something a bit different to what went before as the earlier albums are trying to do something in a particular way. I think it was a point at which they started switching things up a little. I havn't had that album for long and I've been a bit put off spending time with it for various reasons (including getting hold of a copy!) but I'm looking forward to exploring it in full at some point when I'm in a better situation. I really like "ghost stories" as an album although I still don't have a copy of it! I think that might be my fave. I'm not sure. The title reminds me of something fukt someone once did "way back" ...where I worked looooong ago. Time does move fast. love Freya
