BNP Membership List leaked
'Firebomb attack' near home of former BNP man POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack on a car parked near the home of a former British National Party member in West Yorkshire. The man's name, address and contact details appeared on a leaked list of alleged BNP supporters published on the internet. Firefighters and police were called to the blaze in Eighth Avenue, in Windy Bank, Liversedge, at 10.40pm on Thursday. Neighbours said the car exploded in a ball of flames and black smoke, sending parts of it flying across the street. The cause of the blast is being investigated. The targeted car was parked outside a house next door to the man whose name was published on the list but who left the BNP last year. Yesterday the man said he did not think he was the intended target. "I can't see it being linked to us," he said. "The car that was set on fire was outside a neighbour's house, while my car was outside my house. "There are numbers on the doors, which people can clearly see, so I don't think this has anything to do with us. "I'm not even an active member of the party any more; I did join up in a spur-of-the-moment type of thing, but my membership ran out a few months ago and I haven't renewed it." Although he believes he was not the arsonists' target, the former BNP member revealed that he had received a threatening telephone message since the list was leaked. "I've had a threatening phone call, which the police are investigating, but it seems as though as a number of people on the list have received similar calls." The BNP's organiser for Kirklees, David Exley, said: "I spoke to the police this morning and they confirmed that a car has been firebombed last night and one of the lines of inquiry is the person who lives next door to whose car it was is on the list on the internet." Mr Exley said the man was not a current supporter of the BNP. The only BNP councillor on Kirklees Council, Roger Roberts, who lives a couple of miles from where the incident happened, said he believed the fire was not connected to the publication of the list. Mr Roberts, who represents Heckmondwike, said: "That kind of thing is a regular occurrence on that estate. It could be drug dealers or anybody." Neighbours spoke about the moment they heard the explosion outside their homes. One woman, who did not want to be named, said: "There was nothing left of the car. The roof was blown off, the windscreen was blown off, there were bits of car in my garden and bits of car in next door's garden." Both ends of the street were sealed off with police tape as scenes-of-crime officers searched the scene. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said no one was hurt in the incident. Asked about the proximity of the attack to the house of the man on the BNP list, he said: "The cause of the damage and any potential motive all form part of the current investigation." Thousands of BNP supporters were named on the list, which was leaked on an internet blog. The list, which was removed from the original blog where it was posted, but remains available on other websites, names a number of current and former servicemen, along with ex-policemen. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/39Firebomb-attack39-near-home-of.4721614.jp

11-Dec-08 - Manchester, MEN Arena - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
as far as I know, the exit is on Great Ducie Street. and whenever I've been past it coming out of other gigs, its heavily securitied up because it opens straight out onto the main road. the pavement is only wide enough for 3/4 people to walk side by side, and the traffic is usually mental. I can see them either doing a blue-light dash the second the show ends or waiting a few hours for people to clear the area. if you wanted to try and see them, I'm guessing before the gig would be your best bet. or work out which hotel they're staying at on the 11th. oh, and I don't know of any meet-up at the moment

Married women face £1,000 fines for failing to update names on new ID cards!!
you are kidding me????? so I can be found £1000 for not updating the card with my married name, but if I'm homeless, I can give my address as tree in the middle of Wythenshawe Park? which person are you most likely to find if you're looking for them? the one with the wrong name who will have the paperwork to prove who they are, or the person living under a tree in a park. its bad enough that you have to pay to have your passport updated & you'll have to pay to have an id card updated. I'm always intrigued that the DVLA let you change your licence for free when you get married, yet the others charge.

[Blog] Coldplay's new EP: a rant.
I was dead-set on posting my thoughts on the Killers' new album, Day & Age tonight. And I do have thoughts on it. Then I realized that the Coldplay EP was released today in Australia or some other dirty third-world country. So I quickly grabbed a torrent. Now I'm writing about it even though I'm only halfway through my first listen. Day & Age can wait. Transport yourselves back in time! It's the summer. Coldplay was busy hyping the hell out of their fourth album (Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends). It was supposed to be a reinvention borne of their three-year hiatus. It was going to innovate, create, tackle new ground. It was going to be Kid A, a chance for the band often called "Radiohead-lite" to prove the critics wrong. And it wasn't. I mean, Viva was a good album, and on some tracks you could definitely hear Coldplay pushing themselves to find something new. Strawberry Swing, or Lovers in Japan. But much of the album was the same-old, over-produced and under-inspired Coldplay of X&Y. Which leads me to the new EP, Prospekt's March. Prospekt's March is comprised of the leftovers from the Viva recording sessions. The songs that, for whatever reason, didn't make the cut. And so here's the frustrating part: Judging by the songs on the EP, it looks like someone in Coldplay, or their producer, or EMI, listened to the stuff they'd recorded at the Viva sessions and freaked. They realized that most of these songs didn't sound Coldplay enough. The innovation is definitely here, and if they'd kept some of these songs on the album, or put them on in place of some of the stuff that did make the cut, we'd all be talking much differently about Coldplay right now. They could've had their Kid A, I'm not kidding. Let's go track by track: Opening the album is an extended version of Viva's electronic-ish opener, but this time with lyrics. It's a nice indication that Coldplay is finally thinking thematically in their sound instead of solely in their lyrics. Nothing groundbreaking, though. Next up is Postcards From Far Away, which turns out to be a short piano piece. Nothing else, but it's elegant, and essentially proof that Chris Martin has grown exponentially as a composer. I mean, do you realize that Matthew Bellamy had to help him with the piano part for Politik? That song's nothing but pounding chords. Christ. Anyway, Postcards definitely should've been on the album, maybe in place of the drab and completely unmoving Reign of Love. Third is Glass of Water, which didn't sound too remarkable. Granted, I've only listened to it once. Maybe it'll catch on. But who cares, when the next song is: Rainy Day. This is absolutely the most inventive and interesting song Coldplay's ever written. Maybe my favorite new track of the year. It's edgy but pleasant, electronic but restrained. This is probably Coldplay's best work. I can't imagine who in their right mind decided this song should be hidden away on some EP release. That's just a damn crime. Next is Prospekt's March, which is a perfect centerpiece to an album. Anyone who followed the prerelease buzz of Viva knows that it was originally going to be called Prospekt, or Prospekt's March. I assume this song would've been the anchor of the album, had things not changed. And it'd be perfect in that role. Yeah, the song Viva La Vida is catchy and has a nice beat to it. But it's like popcorn--there's no substance to it. If Prospekt's March had been the centerpiece instead... I almost don't want to think about it. The next two songs are remixes of songs from Viva. Fuck that. The closing song, Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground, has the misfortune of being beautiful and on acoustic guitar. Coldplay have developed some bizarre habit of hiding their most honest acoustic songs, either as bonus tracks or b-sides. This song also should've been on the album. So that's it. I'm feeling very torn right now. On one hand, I'm glad that these tracks found their way out of EMI. On the other hand, I'm incredibly disappointed that Chris Martin & Co. didn't have the artistic sensibility to recognize how good these are, or the integrity to stand up to the marketing department. And on my third hand, I'm hopeful that next time around, without the pressure to make a "comeback album," Coldplay can finally give us a truly great record. They were obviously so close this time, and I'd love to see them pull it off. -:- Andrew Skatterfelt http://skatterfelt.livejournal.com/4410.html

Coldplay @ Pepsi Center Justin and I went to the Coldplay show last night and really enjoyed their set. On paper, Coldplay’s sound shouldn’t translate to an arena stage but their catalog really comes to life in a live setting. Their secret weapon is drummer Will Champion. Chris Martin recently called Will the greatest drummer in rock music and now I know why. They opened with four huge hits including Violet Hill, Clocks, In My Place and Speed of Sound before settling in to a groove with a slew of album tracks. I was heartbroken they didn’t play my absolute favorite song Trouble, but they are still one hell of a band. Check out Mark Brown’s review from the Rocky if you want to read more about the show. He’s a better writer than I am. I spotted the JACK-FM vehicle in the parking lot before the show and surprised my former street teamers Jared and Lauren. We gossiped about radio for a while and it was good to see them. If you are in the mood for a little Coldplay, check out In My Place and Lovers In Japan. http://defkennyt.blogspot.com/2008/11/coldplay-pepsi-center.html

18-Nov-08: Houston - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
November 18, 2008 Coldplay in Houston Tuesday Night, 7:30pm, The Toyota Center, Downtown Houston Texas... COLDPLAY I was very lucky to have a chance to see Coldplay in Houston tonight! Dawn and I were able to go and spend the evening with 8000 fans in the Toyota Center and witness one of the GREATEST concerts I've ever seen. But in order to get to the great stuff we had to endure alittle of the not so great but okay, to the downright boring and pretty lame. The alright was a group that first opened at 7:30pm called SleeperCar. Now I didn't mind them too much. It wasn't anything really great. We really got a kick out of their guitar/keyboard player. He was constantly looking to the side as he would play and look out to the crowd like he was something hot. It got really stupid. And Dawn didn't really like the lead singer. The band was solid. They sounded good but the singer wasn't anything to jump up and down for. At one point, he spoke about a song that he wrote for his cousin that died like two weeks after the two had a fight. He never got to say goodbye and more than that, he didn't ever get to say he was sorry. "Wow, this will be good," I thought. Then it was the dullest and unemotional song I'd heard. It actually sounded like a ripoff of a U2 song called Kite. But Kite was a way better song. That you didn't have to have Bono tell you what it was about or why. You know it. This was Dawn's first concert. When Sleeper Car came on, it was really really loud. She ended up going to the restroom and getting some paper to put in her ears. Then she was fine. I went without and suffered for about three hours after the show. And alittle the next day. Well they took up a half hour. Then at the end the lead singer tells us, Jon Hopkins is coming up and he's gonna, "BLOW YOUR MIND!" Alright, let's get our minds blown and it will hype us up for COLDPLAY! He comes out and proceeds to play on two Mac Books and a keyboard and synthisizer. And it turns into a 40 minute CSI background music number with Animated pictures shown on a screen that we can't see and we're only fourteen rows back from the stage. You know the music that they play on CSI where they are processing a crime scene or testing evidence in the uber labs. It was like that but just drawn out even longer. I like my atmosphere music faster than 120 beats per minute. This was dull. And it seemed like it never ended. I looked around the crowd. No one was into it. I didn't see anyone bouncing their head or anything. I said to Dawn, "NO ONE IS INTO THIS." This DJ guy was more into it, flaying his arms around and hitting his keyboard and constantly typing away on his laptops and stuff. It just wasn't that good to me. Or Dawn. Or at least 70% of the audience. We were very very glad when it was over. It was about 8:45pm when he left the stage. Then we just had to wait about 20 minutes and in that time all the prep was going on. One of the craziest things we saw were these small guys had to climb up into the light set up above and out away from the stage and then climbed on the scafolding to these suspended chairs that turned out to be spotlights suspended about the crowd. WOW! I'd never seen anything like that. It was awesome. Then they began pounding JAY-Z and the crew was dancing and flashing lights at eachother. Something was up. Then in a very very loud way, they began playing The Blue Danube (forgive my spelling) through the speakers. And these curtains began lowering on the stage. And it got louder and louder until the end with it thundering, the lights went out all at once!!! And the crowd went NUTS!!! Setlist: Life In Technicolor Violet Hill Clocks In My Place Speed Of Sound Cemeteries Of London Chinese Sleep Chant 42 Fix You Strawberry Swing -The Group walks out to a little stage light from below God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (Electronic Mix) Talk -Chris talks to a little girl with awesome seats and sings alone The Hardest Part Postcards From Far Away -Chris runs back to the stage Viva La Vida Lost! The Scientist -The Group Runs out to the back of the Toyota Center Death Will Never Conquer (Will plays guitar and sings the song!!!) -The Group runs back to the stage and we wait Interlude: Viva La Vida (Thin White Duke Remix) -They get back to the stage Politik Lovers In Japan (The Butterflies fill the Toyota Center!!!) Answered Prayer (via Coldplay) When last I posted it was only hours before the Houston Coldplay concert and I was wondering if my prayers for a great concert were more than slightly selfish. As it turns out God sometimes blesses us in ways that exceed our wildest hopes. The blessing goes like this: My wife and I had tickets at the top row of the bottom section of seats. From there we were separated from the stage by an entire floor of concert goers and twenty three rows in our section. All of this was fine by us as the music and show were amazing and due to the cost of tickets the evening was tagged as our anniversary, birthday and Christmas presents to each other. Also my brother bought tickets a month after we did and as we were walking to the arena we realized that we had tickets two rows away from my brother so we would get to see the show together (sort of, more on that later). The concert was awesome and well worth any gifts we may have given to each other for anniversary, birthdays or Christmas. Then it happened… In the middle of the concert the entire band jumped off the stage, ran past the crowd on the floor, up the stairs of our section and stopped three feet behind us on a small platform. They proceeded to play an acoustic version of the song my wife and I danced to as our first song at our wedding. Ridiculous? Absolutely. The entire time Kara and I couldn’t believe what was happening. As the band was running our way I actually thought about what I had written earlier that day about asking to be blessed by God in some memorable way through a concert. God is huge and He answers prayers. It would be great if He answered them like this every time but that isn’t the way it works. Instead He blesses us the way that He knows is best. This is by far my coolest story of answered prayer and maybe it can help you out today as you go through your day to remember that God is working and blessings come at us everyday sometimes they are big sometimes they are small and sometimes they include Coldplay. One last thing. When the band came up to where we were sitting my brother who was two rows in front of us wasn’t two rows in front of us he was in the bathroom. So the experience wasn’t quite perfect after all. http://rebelbasewoodley.wordpress.com/2008/11/21/answered-prayer-via-coldplay/

My sister Lisa purchased me tickets for the Coldplay concert and it ROCKED! It was the best concert that I have ever been for which I did not have to buy tickets. lol. No, it really did rank up there among one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The Rolling Stones and Beastie Boys were pretty wicked too. Despite being sick as a dog and wanting to throw up on the hideously dressed, leopard jacket/cheap perfume wearing chick sitting next to me, everything was all good. I mean come on, seriously? Are you going to pick up any guy wearing that cheap perfume? I mean, I am trapped. I cannot escape your poor choices woman!!! Ok, I am done. Let's move on... The band was amazing. They played for a good 3 hours, I would estimate. They played pretty much all of their songs for us, from the older albums to the newest one, Viva La Vida. One of the most exciting things they did was move about the arena. They played on the front stage, but then they ran to a smaller stage to the right of the arena, and finally ran to the upper tier and played on a small stage to the left. It was so cool that they thought of us up in the nosebleed sections. They wanted to make sure everyone could see them. Super cool if you ask me. Lisa and I made a deal that the next time Coldplay was in town, we were going to purchase the seats up front, center stage and bring Ryan along as well. I am holding you to it sister! Thanks Lisa for being rockin AWESOME! Thanks to everyone for making my day special. XOXO http://nesrstafamily.blogspot.com/2008/11/coldplay-and-happy-birthdays.html

I Can Die Happy Now There are moments in my life that I'm convinced that God looks over at the angels, grins and says "hey watch this". Randy and I have had tickets to see Coldplay at American Airlines Center in Dallas since last June. The second they went on sale I bought them. Last night was the big night and we were so excited. However, I must have been due to be rear-ended in rush hour traffic because it had been a while since the last time. But of all nights for it to happen, this couldn't be worse. I was terrified I was going to miss the concert. Fortunately, the car drove fine after I exchanged information with the 19 year-old kid (who wasn't paying attention). We made it in plenty of time to wish that the opening artist was on his last song and that Coldplay would take the stage. I sat there in my seat, wishing I was closer to the stage and being a little jealous of all the radio contest winners who were on the front row. It was as if God thunked me on the head and I realized I should really just be thankful that I was there in the first place. The concert finally started and it was amazing. We kept reading reviews that if you were going to see a concert, this would be the one to see. And boy was it. They were amazing. About half way through I turned around and noticed that about three rows behind us and a little to the left, there was a microphone and three guitar stands set up. I turned around to Randy and said "no way!" Sure enough after a couple more songs, they came down the ramp and up the stairs and this is what we got. I pretty much wept. We couldn't believe it! Out of all the thousands and thousands of people there and all of the hundreds of places they could have gone in the stadium, they stood right behind us. Randy is convinced that Chris Martin was looking at him. They sang "The Scientist" and a couple of other songs. It was the most unbelievable thing and I barely slept all night. http://blog.deeperside.com/2008/11/there-are-moments-in-my-life-that-im.html

Coldplay Is Frighteningly Good Live Dear gentle readers: Welcome to my blog, where there is SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. I saw Coldplay at the American Airlines Center last night (Nov. 19). Plenty 'o fun observations: miniskirts, boots and scarves seemed to be the popular items of the evening; my Viva La Vida (name of their album)T shirt was $35; i sat in the nosebleed seats but still had an OK view; the first two acts I didn't pay much attention to bc I was hungrily waiting for Coldplay; the first act was called Sleepercar, from El Paso; i had a hot dog and a Coke while I was waiting. Getting hungry so I'm going to make this post MUCH shorter than I wanted to (darn necessity for food). Coldplay played for about 1 hour, 45 minutes. During several songs Chris Martin skipped around the stage in a cute leather jacket and jeans (although my view was limited by being in Section 327). Coldplay did more new-album songs than older stuff. They played the two songs I wanted to hear the most, "42" and "Viva La Vida," off their new album. During one of the early songs, Martin gave a plug to "Medieval Times" (N. Stemmons Fwy) restaurant, saying it was near his hotel. OK, I'm there. You should buy Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Bowls, the pancakes and sausage one. They are delicious. Only takes a few minutes in the microwave. TARGET Tip of the day: I got some legwarmers there for $7.99. I got two pairs. I am going to write about my Writing Adventure soon. For you die-hard Coldplay fans, "you didn't get to heaven but you made it close," Peace, bbb http://northdallashomegirl.blogspot.com/2008/11/coldplay-is-frighteningly-good-live.html

Coldplay Like God (Great Expectations) As I was sitting at Coldplay, I realized that they were like God. Wait, before you question whether or not I’m pulling my golden calf out of the furnace, hear me out. When I went to see Coldplay for the first time a few weeks ago, I was expectant but had no idea what those expectations looked like. I knew it would be good, but I didn’t know HOW good. My seats were perfect too. I had a perfect view of the stage, great acoustics, and they even came out from the stage to the tier right below me. I had paid 2nd tier prices for 8th row seats (well, for at least 2 songs) A-mazing…I almost cried at one point. I can’t even explain the emotion I felt because of my life situation at that moment. I was with one of my best friends, away from work (destressed), and in sunny Florida sharing space with Chris Martin. Does it get better?? Well, if one show is good, isn’t a 2nd show better? That was my mindset as I bought one lonely ticket to the Dallas show for that next week (that was all they had left, I might add). I fought traffic solo, parked, bundled up in the wind, and braced myself for the hike to my nosebleed seats that I swear were situated in the Himalayas. In fact, I was in what I call the “echo nook” of the AAC—it trapped all the echoes and bounced them back and forth like a game of “keep away.” Only, I was the sad little kid in the middle. Not good. I certainly enjoyed the performance, but I honestly felt a little slighted. At one point I thought, “I’m sure glad I had Orlando because I know they sound better than this (and for the record, it was still phenomenal). I kind of felt sorry for the folks who experienced Coldplay like that. I watched as some walked out early and others left to use the bathroom in the middle of ‘Fix You’ (what?!) Part of me wanted to stop them and start explaining how amazing it could be. What good would that do? It doesn’t change their experience…but it also doesn’t change the truth that Coldplay is much better than this. It was all a matter of distorted experience and circumstance. THAT is when I realized how much this is like my feelings toward the LORD. How often do I come to Him with a plan already mapped out, expectantly waiting for Him to “recreate” His 1st performance by my standards. But, by the nature of location and emotional circumstance, it is never what I expect (even if it was the exact plan I’d had—it wouldn’t meet my precise expectations). Just as a music note travels a different path in a different venue, so God cannot be measured or calculated. We can never guess the mind and plan of the LORD. Even when my experience with Him tells me that He “let me down” or failed my great expectations, it doesn’t change the Universal Truth of His promises or how magnificent He is. He makes no apology for where you are sitting—how close or far depends on you. If you put yourself in a nosebleed echo chamber, the fault is not His. That same dissonance you hear from there is a spine-tingling masterpiece to those in correct proximity. God designed you to sit on the front row of creation; Himself, center stage. That scenario is the best, but certainly not the only one. I often feel the need to “explain Jesus” to people (or really, stick up for Him), as if He needs ME as His PR person [insert belly laugh here]. I believe I need to keep myself in the front row and allow Him to blow my mind instead of trying to recreate 2nd rate, calculated experiences full of human expectation. I also feel I should start pulling people from the rafters and offer the front row ticket Jesus bought with His life. They need only to pick it up at ‘will call’… http://browniebytes.blogspot.com/2008/11/coldplay-like-god-great-expectations.html

Coldplay rocks American Airlines Center DALLAS - The world-famous British band Coldplay rocked the American Airlines Center to a sold-out audience Wednesday. The band is on a world tour promoting its latest chart-topping album, "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends." Coldplay began the concert with the opening track on its recent album, "Life in Technicolor." As the members walked out toward the stage and grabbed their respective instruments, the music began to get louder, and the crowd went into a frenzy. The band played all its hits, such as "Clocks," "In My Place" and "Speed of Sound." Before lead singer Chris Martin began to perform "Cemeteries of London," he told the crowd, "If you are here to see the Jonas Brothers, then you are at the wrong show." The remark was met with laughter from the audience and Martin himself. The show had many highlights that included the band walking to the back of the arena and up to the audience to perform "The Scientist." Martin told the crowd, "We can't come up to Dallas without visiting the back of the room." Before performing the song, Martin mentioned that a Rolling Stone journalist had reminded him earlier that if he bought the new Gun N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy," he would receive a free Dr Pepper. Martin then suggested that maybe the band perform "Paradise City" but laughed off the thought and stated that they should move on "to something more serious." However, at the end of performing "The Scientist" Martin sang, "Take me down to Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty." While still performing within the audience, Martin gave up the mic to drummer Will Champion to perform "Death Will Never Conquer Me." I was quite impressed because I had no idea that Champion could sing and sing well. Even though the show was Coldplay at its best, I didn't like their somewhat techno version of "God Put A Smile On Your Face" and "Talk." The songs didn't sound like they should have and were hard to recognize until Martin began to sing. The beat was techno-based, and the guitar riffs were overshadowed by overuse of the whammy bar. What surprised me the most about the concert was that Martin was more vocal with the audience than last time the band was in Dallas promoting "X&Y." He was talkative and told many jokes. Before one song, while sitting at the piano, he told the audience, "I wish I were like Bruce Springsteen with stories for the songs, but I don't have any." Before performing "The Hardest Part," he joked that the song was written by Joe the Plumber before he became a plumber. Martin called him "Joe the Songwriter." All of his anecdotes were met with giggles from the audience and himself. Since Coldplay's rise to fame, the ticket prices for the band's concerts have risen dramatically. However, I believe that the ticket was worth the price, and I plan on seeing the group again next time it comes back.
