wellllllll, Anna & Marisa managed to get the vector points down to the magic number of 42! :D unfortunately, the coldplay karma generated by that number failed miserably :( , and the re-jigged design has again been rejected by both spreadshirt sites. we have a plan c to play with, so will be looking into that next. promise to update you once we have more info. :)

its absolutely massive!!! I think the queue party will have to become queue parties. once we get tickets & know which turnstiles everyone's booked to, we can look into it. I'd estimate it would take a good 30-45 mins to walk round the outside of the stadium. inside, don't go to the first toilets/bar you come to. everyone went to them. we walked as far round as our section allowed and found a bar with no queue at all :D Inside is pretty cool. the atmosphere on Mon was amazing. the Burnley fans were very loud. And I imagine with all the seats full & fans on the pitch, VLV will bring the roof down!!

25-May-09: Championship Play-Off Final - Sheffield Utd v Burnley
Jen is very happy, but very tired :D The road to Wembley was claret & blue :D London has indecisive weather which didn't do me any favours. Wembley Way is the most mental piece of land i have ever walked down. The stadium is incredible & big, and noisy. Booooooo to all the Club Wembley members who left a big swathe of empty seats - there are people out there who couldn't get tickets, and would have loved to attend. Very impressed with the Met too! Their crowd control after the match was very impressive, only 10 mins to get onto the platform on Wembley Park, not too many peple let through at a time.

The current MP expenses row
that one is beyond belief, and I'd like to know why he hasn't been arrested for fraud or theft? some of them were milking a system, and stayed within the rules (doesn't justify it but you can see why they tried it on). anyone else who had done such a thing would be down at the police station trying to explain themselves. yes we pay their salaries, and everyone is entitled to spend their salary on what they want. but to use their expenses for such things is wrong. expenses are for things that enable you to do your job, not bits & pieces that you might like just for the hell of it. and they definitely don't need a raise to pay for their duck houses, if they managed their finances properly they could afford it on what they are paid. Who need to spend £2k on a chair in a house that they don't even live in half the year?

Wemblesqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and hurrah for claret & blue clocks :D Town's clock goes claret and blue The four clock faces of Burnley Town Hall have been turned claret and blue in support of the promotion-seeking football club. Burnley face Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Monday, with the prize a place in the Premier League. It is the first time in 120 years the clock has displayed the club's colours. The last time Burnley played in English football's top flight - then the First Division - was in 1976. Burnley Council chief executive Steve Rumbelow said he wanted to create a beacon of support for the team. 61st game David Farrar, who has responsibility for the upkeep of the clock, said: "The feeling around Burnley is great at the moment. "There is claret appearing all over the place, from offices to front windows, so it's good to be doing something here too at the town hall. "I was here the last time Burnley achieved promotion, so I am hoping that will be the case this time too," the Clarets fan said. The lighting effect has been achieved by using coloured light bulbs. When Burnley turn out at Wembley it will be their 61st game of the season after a campaign in which they also reached the semi-finals of the Carling Cup. The Clarets will be taking 36,000 supporters with them for their Wembley day out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8061643.stm

20-May-2009: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Virginia Beach, VA, USA
Last night, I went to see a concert: Coldplay and Pete Yorn. I was almost going to decline as I am not really a fan of either but I decided against it. Who am I to turn down free tickets to anything? I'm glad I went on SO MANY levels! First, I haven't been to a concert in YEARS. Mostly because Ithaca never really had them. Sure, musical acts came rather frequently but they either were people I seriously did not want to go see or I simply never had the time or the money. The really big shows, like the one I went to, were always held far away so not only did you have to spend money on tix, you spent money getting up there and what not. So yeah, this concert reminded me that live shows, no matter who they are, are always fun to go to. I mean, if a "lite rock" concert can be jammin like this one was, imagine all the others. Going to this concert made me realize that I missed out on so much not making an effort to go to the shows in Ithaca. That brings me to my second point. This concert made me realize how much of a douche-bag elitist I had become in Ithaca. Like, why the hell would anyone turn down free, FREE concert tickets to a decent band just because they are "too mainstream." Seriously, that was a big factor in my almost refusal to not go. I listen to alternative music, little known artists, and make fun of bands like Coldplay, blah, blah, blah. Who gives a shit about all that!! Really. However, Ithaca makes people like that, I feel. The artistic diversity in Ithaca is pretty non-existant. Live music shows are usually townie folksy, upstart college rock-y, incoherent hippie-y, or, suprisingly, hardcore metal-y. Sure, here and there different groups arise and I'm sure much more than I ever really made an effort to find but, that is precisely my point. In Ithaca, you had to put so much effort into finding alternatives and, frankly, when you did you'd mostly have to suffer hanging out with nothing but almostt/barely of age college kids. Bottom line, Ithaca latches too vigourously onto their little culture. It caters to a certain crowd of individuals and almost refuses to include anyone else into to it, especially of it even reeks a little of the mainstream. Thirdly, I got a chance to ultimately break this psychotic menta image I had painted of Virginia. I couldn't help but invision it as this, almost backward, place where every single person was uber-christian or every single place was full of racial tension or I don't know, some place that offered no alternative lifestyle choices what-so-ever. I've gladly found out that is definately not the case. Just like any other large metropolitan area, it offers a little something for everyone. That is the true benefit of larger cities and that is why, ultimately, I had to return to one. I mean the place is rather segragated (a blog for another day) but it still offers up anything one might be interested in. http://ear-full.blogspot.com/2009/05/viva-la-virginia-lessons-learned-from.html

20-May-2009: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Virginia Beach, VA, USA
Last night we went to the Coldplay concert at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater. The weather was cool, the fans were chill and everyone was ready to hear and sing along to their favorite songs. They played all of their major hits including "Yellow" and "The Scientist", and of course their latest "Viva La Vida". The performers played in different spots in the venue, moving around every few songs so that fans in the front, the back, the sides could all catch a great view of the show. At one point we were in the front row because of it so I got to take some great photos. Incredible. Even the theme of the whole show about living life was moving and inspiring especially after what 2009 has been for myself and my friends thus far. We've dealt with pain, grief and losses in what seemed like one notice of bad news after another. This job so far has allowed me to travel and do things I would have never done otherwise and I plan on continuing to keep living my life to the fullest until its over. Catch Coldplay in a town near you. Next month I will be at the No Doubt concert. Paramore is the opening act. I can't wait! http://turnonshuffle.blogspot.com/2009/05/coldplay-viva-la-vida-tour.html

Coldplay was unbelievable. The above shot was taken before Coldplay took the stage at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Shelby County Alabama. I would pay good money to see them again right now. I recorded about 4 songs on my Blackberry, but I will not subject you to those poor quality videos. http://bessemeropinions.blogspot.com/2009/05/coldplay-and-cia-stuff.html

Coldplay is one of my favorite bands. I love them! Viva la Vida is such a fun album- and so many of the songs are just written to be heard live- in a very large crowd. Last summer Daniel and I were waiting at the computer at 10:00am, sometime in June, for the moment when Coldplay tickets went on sale. They were coming to Philips Arena in Atlanta- amazing venue to see a band like them. We clicked on ticketmaster at 10:01 am and got amazing tickets. But alas, the Lord called Daniel to China the exact week that we were supposed to go to Coldplay. ha. I will say, he hesitated for a moment when the trip came about- but we both thought he should probably say yes to a free trip to China to do earthquake relief work, and be able to play worship music there openly. It was an amazing trip- but he did miss Coldplay. So I went! with Sarah! If you've seen this tour- you know they stop everything in the middle of the show, and walk out into the crowd and sing from a portable stage somewhere in the crowd. Well, they walked down from the stage and walked right up to our section! Now, I do not think that the band members of Coldplay are some super heroes, and I would not swoon if they touched me or anything like that- but I do think it's fun to be able to see and hear a band you listen to all the time! So sadly, Daniel missed his second Coldplay show (they canceled in Birmingham several years ago due to illness- so they say). So Sunday night they came back to Atlanta- and we didn't have tickets this time- but we had to go anyway. We stopped by the atm and got out only the amount we were willing to spend. I even prayed for cheap tickets (God cares about the little things right?). We walked right up to some scaplers and offered $60 for two tickets (through ticketmaster it would have been close to $120 for two). He sold them, we walked right in and got some amazing spots on the lawn. They played at Hifi buys ampitheater, so if you had lawn seats you could just bring blankets and relax, and sit wherever you found a spot. Not bad huh! The show was amazing! You could definitely tell they have been on tour for over a year because they were much more silly and laid back this time. Chris Martin even broke into a nice rendition of "Georgia on my mind" and changed lots of his own lyrics to fit to Atlanta and this crowd. He thanked the crowd over and over for spending money to see them, and standing in the rain (there was a steady drizzle the whole night- which i loved!). He even walked all the way back to the lawn seats and sang to all of us on the lawn. It's always fun to sing with thousands of other people too! During the song "yellow" they released huge yellow illuminating bouncing balls which were filled with confetti when broken. And of course they had huge gun like things that shot out their signature butterflies at the end. http://theadventuresofdt.blogspot.com/2009/05/viva-la-vida.html

Coldplay Kick Off New “Viva la Vida” Tour With Grand Gestures Confetti paper butterflies. Giant yellow beach balls (dropped during “Yellow” — get it?). Super high-definition live video. Friday’s opening night of the last leg of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida tour in West Palm Beach was an Olympics-esque spectacle, complete with five orbs dangling over the band’s heads that served as screens for more state-of-the-art camera work. Coldplay are playing big sheds for this summer stretch — about 16,000 fans filled the Cruzan Amphitheater — and, despite their sad songs, grand gestures suit them. The quartet, dressed in their Sgt. Pepperesque jackets, want nothing more than to please. That’s why they twice made excursions to small ancillary stages in the middle of the venue, to show their “respect for the lawn,” as Chris Martin said in one of his many shiny, hammy comments (someone hire him a script doctor). He then choreographed the audience to hold up their lighted cell phones and perform what he called “the first ever Mexican phone wave,” before leading the band into an acoustic cover of the Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.” Believe. One doesn’t go to a Coldplay show expecting shock rock or even anything more mildly challenging than having to commiserate with Martin over his bad haircut. With Martin’s piano riffs and falsetto croon, the band stops just shy of being alt-rock’s answer to smooth jazz. Their music is almost unnervingly tight; Jon Buckland’s Edge-walking leads rang out in the kind of perfect stage mix you rarely get at shed shows. They played long — almost two hours — and they played well, hitting all the bright spots of their catalog (though changing the song selection little from their earlier U.S. leg). “The Scientist” has been moved to an encore position, Will Champion’s high-hat fillip creating just the right dramatic tension. The butterflies rained down during “Lovers in Japan.” Gwyneth Paltrow was standing center front (not out in the lawn), singing along with hubby Martin. Given how eager Coldplay are to please, they made a serious misstep with the distribution of free CDs that they touted would be available after the show. A few people handed out woefully insufficient quantities of LeftRightLeftRightLeft at only one of Cruzan’s exits, causing Coldplay’s heretofore-happy, polite fans to get ugly. (A more raucous crowd would have rioted or at least trampled someone for good measure.) Presumably, the band will have this sorted out at future dates — or they’ll just decide everyone who cares will have downloaded LRLRL already and give up on the idea (which Martin claimed as the band’s own original concept, even though Prince did it years ago). Pete Yorn played before Coldplay, performing angsty ballads from his recent CD Back and Fourth. While Coldplay are practiced entertainers who know how to play to every corner, Yorn and his five-piece band with their earnest, indie songs sounded dwarfed by the venue. It’s nothing that a million or so bucks in audio and video technology and a movie-star wife couldn’t cure. http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/35352240.html
