Surprised I didn't even get through to an order form, especially since I had two friends trying as well for me. Maybe the proportion of tickets between local:coldplay.com was a lot less based towards local than I thought. Quite surprised I didn't get a chance though, I've gotten tickets that sold out immediately for places like festivals or Wembley before, I thought I'd have a much better chance considering I happened to live in the right post code.

Also, I hate to point this out, but Nathan never said that Charlton were a bigger joke than Newcastle. He never said Charlton were a joke in the slightest. He said Newcastle weren't a joke.

On the contrary, being a Newcastle fan and a Geordie got me, Nathan and some other thirty thousand fans a chance to be in the stadium again with the sole purpose of giving him the best send off possible. I'm grateful to be a Newcastle fan from up here, to be honest. I don't think there's another club that creates the sort of bond with managers and icons that we do. The list is endless, to be honest. Milburn, Robson, Keegan (although he's doing his best to tarnish that), Shearer, Gazza. The stadium, everything. Everytime I go away to University I genuinely miss being at St James' Park. Whatever league we're in, whatever our team is, Newcastle is the best football club to support. As for Sir Bobby Robson, it seems like it worked out perfectly for him. I have no doubt that he could have easily passed away at any point over the past few weeks or months, but as someone of his magnitude deserves, his luck came through and he was there to experience his tribute. He is the true influence on a lot of people up here. You'll find that unlike a lot of other people who die in the public eye, his achievements in football will be heavily heavily outweighed by stories of his personality. A true man, genuinely.

no, it's not. and you didn't even fucking answer it. why do you have to pull these stupid threads out of 2003 and then not contribute anything to it and then just leave it on everyone elses front page? it's so irritating... :/

why revive such stupid threads? also, climbing into a washing machine is beyond idiotic. if the door swings shut, they don't open from the inside. i know a family next to my old house whose 4 year old son climbed into the washing machine, the door swung shut, and it turned on automatically, killing him.

No, I think you're wrong. That doesn't make them heroic, at all. You said it yourself in your last sentence, you were inspired. Being inspired by someone doesn't make them a hero. It could make them legendary in whatever field they're in, or make them inspirational (duh.) but heroic is a completely different thing. Acting heroic (which is what would make you a hero) is doing something noble or courageous. Not writing a good song that evokes feelings from someone. There's nothing remotely heroic about it.

i don't understand how some musicians can be classed as "heroes", to be honest. excuse me if i sound "too serious" or anything, but i think it's ridiculous to say that a musician is more of a hero than someone you know who's actually done something. like saved a life, or lived through something terrible, or like, raised you as children. that's just my view, though. like, i know of this girl who went to my friends school who a week or two ago was pulled underwater after a boat she was on with her dad was knocked over. he was safe, but he dived under to try and save her, and in the end they both died. that's heroic. not making a song that you like. it's ridiculous. my grandparents are heroes to me because as a blind couple, they raised three daughters with pretty much no money whatsoever (one of which is my mam). and people could say to me that that isn't the proper criteria for a hero, but they actually did something. they didn't just write some songs and get paid an obscene amount of money to sing them in places around the world, and stay in 5 star hotels and have massive houses and everything they could possibly want. it'd be different if half of you were talking about them being heroes for actually doing something selfless, like their charity work or something. but instead you're just giving them titles and so on just because they can sing or play an instrument.

Personally, my favourite bit is how he uses the fact that he exercises as a point of proving he's better than people. I've done 10 miles on an exercise bike most days for the past fortnight. I SHOULD BE GIVEN A KNIGHTHOOD.
