What's your least favourite thing about this board?
Nah, seriously though. I don't have any problem with Mark. You know, at least he brings something to the forum. However many of his puns there is, at least he does something. I just think there's a better way to organise the board. That's the whole purpose for me setting this thread up. I know I'd come a lot more often if I didn't have to wade through pages of Happy Birthdays and other threads I don't really need to talk about. I mean, to me, a forum is about talking about different subjects. Most forums have rules on no off topicness. I don't think this one should have that because it gets too restrictive but there's a limit, in my eyes. It's more for the mods and admins to decide, it's not my place at all but it's come up a lot in the past so maybe it's about time we looked at it objectively and thought about how we could improve it. And me? I don't see the harm in making a subforum to the Lounge that has announcements (birthdays and so on, although if it's just congratulating someone, can't it be in a PM instead of a thread? but I digress...) and another subforum that's called something like "be as off topic as you want and talk to eachother". Because right now the Lounge is a bit of a mess, for me. The News and Sports forum's fine cause you know what you get when you go in. News and Sports, nothing else. To me the lounge should be general topics that don't fit the other areas. Not conversations. That's just me, I hope someone sees this post and agrees though, at least with one point of it. And says so. Cause I just think it'd help. Maybe it should just be put to a poll or something.

i'll go with the majority here. some signatures are massive. it'd probably be better if we had a limit or something. and birthday threads. and conversation threads. there should be a sticky called birthday wishes. or a sub forum at least. and another called random conversation where people can talk. but i mean, that's what PMs are for. just saying, if i go in a thread for hot girls, i just want to see hot girls. i don't want to read about how peter has had a lovely day and is having troubles with his girlfriend. i was pretty surprised people actually came up with some suggestions. but i mean there were examples of things i didn't necessarily like in this thread. the conversation mark had with that person (i didnt read the username), i mean i don't mind the puns if they're spread out but it was a straight back and forth conversation between them both. NOT ON TOPIC GUYZ :(

Haha. Don't talk to a Newcastle fan about living up to expectations.

Be honest. A constructive thread, by the way. I don't want people to say "WELL I HATE <user> CAUSE HE SMELLS" or anything.

You kidding? If Spurs turn it around, they're loaded. Bale, Corluka, King, Woodgate - they're all quality in the back 4. Although they can't seem to put it together for Spurs. Bentley, Lennon, Jenas, Huddlestone, Dos Santos, Modric - some great players there. I'd love to have some of them at Newcastle. Pavyulchenko, Bent - two good strikers who can score goals. Honestly, they just need some time to get playing together. I, personally, don't think they're playing the right system. But there's definate quality there, and for the future too, they're a young squad.

Confess Your Weird Celebrity Crush!
Louis is an absolute hero. But what's his name, the MOTD2 presenter, that made me laugh. Ahaha. I don't really think there's any that count as weird for me. Hayley Williams is weird, but pretty so... Emma Watson was weird apparently when I liked her (so much so my friends made me an I <3 Emma Watson tshirt with the words "Play with my wand" on the back. Other than that, mm. Ashley Tisdale's up there. I think they're the main three.

Nah, there's a few whose opinions changed after the statement, but really it was stuff we'd known all along. Dennis Wise is just a scapegoat. He's not a likeable character based on his reputation but I don't think he's done much wrong. Myself and a friend of mine are probably the biggest Newcastle research nerds I know and we both want Ashley to stay and support what he's doing, but he needs some changes. For some reason Wise has gone from being behind the scenes to being in the foreground and in honesty I blame Llambias. The way I think it's happened is Wise has come to Keegan with these players and said "take a look at them" and when Keegan's refused them, Llambias has got sick of a lack of progress and got them anyways. Which is wrong in a way but I don't think Keegan's the right man for the job. He's too old fashioned, and he did need scouting help. The thing is, it seems pretty obvious that the board lost faith in Keegan's ability to find players. He's unquestionably a good manager and a good man manager but he couldn't find these Ginola's and Asprilla's any more. He did need help scouting though. One of the main things the board did wrong is allegedly trying to sell Owen and players behind Keegan's back. It was never confirmed though, only rumour. But either way, it shouldn't ever have happened like that. The thing with TV coverage is they pick the most extreme, and right now it's the popular story to have him out. Fans going on saying their lives are over and people who clearly were just walking past St. James' Park by coincidence are voicing their opinions. On a few footballing blogs, I've seen a few people say they believe in what Ashley's trying to do. But it's not the majority. To a lot of people, they only see what is said on Sky Sports, or what happens on a Saturday afternoon. There'll be so many people who complain about a lack of communication dating back 16 months, when Mort, Wise and Ashley have said so many times what the plan was. To be quite honest, Newcastle have some of the dumbest fans in the country. They're just passionate, and unfortunately, right now, they're passionate for entirely dumb reasons. If they'd do a bit of research and look at Keegan as a normal human (which he is) and Wise as a normal human (which he is) instead of their reputations, they'd actually see some sense.

I wish I could be bothered to write about Newcastle anymore, because I've said it so often in the past few days. It's pathetic. Our fans are pathetic, our board is pathetic. Ashley's statement makes a lot of sense but it was needed 2 weeks ago. Keegan needs to just suck it up and come back and finish a job for once. Ashley needs to come out and say "We want Keegan back and we'll give him the final say, but Wise and his scouts are there to help him." And we need Ashley to fire Derek Llambias and make sure he never steps foot inside Newcastle again. Because it's all gone down hill since he took over from Chris Mort. Our fans though... Threatening Ashley and the sad thing is, with football violence in recent times, can you blame him for selling up? It wouldn't be a big surprise if he had been attacked, if he'd turned up. Newcastle fans have completely overreacted to Keegan leaving. One woman said it was the end of her life. Get a fucking grip. It's football and he's one manager. All I know is whoever we get in to manage, I hope Ashley stays and sticks with his plan because our signings have been good (whether they were over KK's head or not) and we're getting better financially. The last thing I want is some multi billionaire arab or american who doesn't know about Newcastle's traditions and comes and tries to blow the Premier League out of the water with his money. I don't want to have success right away. It's not worth it. It's a hollow victory. I'd much rather see something be built over the course of a few years so when you actually get that achievement, you know you've actually worked at it and built up to it. Money doesn't last for ever and these owners will soon get bored / die / run out of money and someone more human will have to take over and Leeds United will happen again. It's not worth it to me as a Newcastle United fan and as a football fan in general to have someone do that to my team. Also, Danny Guthrie got sent off for a kick at the end of the game against Hull. Pretty dispicable move in the first place, made all the more disgusting by the news that Fagan broke his leg. But for some reason Guthrie isn't being labelled in the same way Mike Taylor or Mark Taylor was when he did Eduardo. Even though Guthrie's was clearly deliberate. Hmm... We have a small squad but even I hope Guthrie gets an extended ban for that.

Would you ever get a tattoo/do you have one?
you have a tattoo, grace? my girlfriend's obsessed with them. and the idea of me getting one. i'm not convinced, to be honest. i've always wanted to get the red hot chili peppers asterisk somewhere small and something to signify football and newcastle upon tyne and newcastle united and something for basketball and the knicks, but i'd be too afraid i'd hate it after.

5-0 :') Probably the best day of my life, actually. Nothing better than stealing a point or three from Man United. No-one likes Man United, not cause they win, but more cause one half of their stadium is full of men in suits, and the other half is full of people who actually aren't from Manchester at all.

cry me a river. owen, viduka, barton - three starters from our good run last year at the end of the season missing. coloccini - centre back who played the whole game, first in england, after one training session with the club (after spending about a week and a half in england but unable to train because of the transfer delay) martins - the goal scorer and lone striker has been injured and was considered a risk for this game because he injured his thigh i think, and only barely came through 60 minutes of a friendly as his only preparation. also, notable... his mother died less than a month ago. the mother he was noted for being the person in the world he was closest to. the death was a complete surprise as well. also players missing - shola ameobi (leaving to join ipswich), andy carroll (highly rated striker out injured). honestly, nani got himself suspended so that's not a reason. berbatov. the fact you even include him in the list i'm assuming was only to make the numbers up to 11? man united could have wrapped that transfer up months ago. that's certainly not an excuse. manchester united are the champions of england and europe. newcastle united are underachievers who aren't expected to do anything this season. man united are supposed to have a big deep squad that can support some injuries, newcastle are known to have one of the thinnest squads in the league. so please, instead of everyone saying man united were poor today, and missing loads of players, how about our boys get some credit for once? we defensively held our own today, and the man united goal was scored with our centre back off the pitch injured. so with a full back four, we contained manchester united very well, i thought. jonas was unstoppable. the best player on the park, no question. there isn't many players in the PREMIERSHIP who track back from a midfield position as willingly and quickly as he did the whole game. shay given with some excellent saves as well, while van der sar looked poor on the newcastle goal at least. can i also say... newcastle made no substitutions through out the full game, whereas manchester united made all three, i think? (albeit one (carrick) enforced). newcastle were just fitter today. no question about it.

Two Questions
Anyone got any tips on how to stop biting my nails? It does my head in. I need to stop ;/ Also, it's just under 2 months until I move away for University. Which means, no-one will give me a job because I'm only here for so many weeks. Does anyone have any decent ideas for making money? I'm open to any suggestions, so long as they involve me keeping my clothes on.
