  1. ^so why shouldn't music be included in that list?
  2. ^I'm a space cadet. You have been warned. So now you won't be surprised the next time I space out. *nods*
  3. ^Well how much music does he listen to? Most people who are more into football/soccer/hockey or WOW would rather be doing those things than figuring out the quirks of the music industry.
  4. There is an art to giving an opinion, though... Yeah, because the biggest Coldplay fansite on the internet wouldn't be the most obvious place for every piss taker on the planet to congregate and annoy them to the point where they stopped finding it funny a long time ago. Very clever and original. Congratulations. When morons meet different morons, they get in a big moron fight until both sides become even more moronic. :P No, that's the Beatles job.
  5. Of course the really pertinent question is what the hooey are you doing on here as late as me? :wtf: :P
  6. I WANT MY DOCTOR BACK!!!! :cry2:
  7. Pffft. Don't talk to me about Kid A, that was so last decade. :P ...Heh... I don't think there can be another Kid A. It's Kid A. :smug2: Maybe another Funeral. But the band that makes it doesn't exist yet.
  8. Heh... my purse is currently doubling as a bookbag for school (yes, purses really have gotten too big, haven't they? But it's convenient.) So scientific calculator, stapler, notebooks of varying size, bus schedule and route map, bus tickets, benadryl, ibuprophen, chapstick, keys, kleenex, bandaids, mp3 player, phone, pens and pencils, gobs of old mushed up receipts, loose pages with notes scribbled on them, and lots of random junk that has never been cleaned out. I can often fit books and lunches in it. At the moment left over from new years there is a toque, a spare pair of socks, and a stack of cds for the car. Oh yeah, and lost way down at the bottom somewhere there might actually still be a wallet kicking around.
  9. ^I'll leave you to that then... :uhoh2: :P :escaping2:
  10. Apparatjik! Hmm... I'm sure there's plenty of stuff that I'm looking forward to in a big way, I'm just not aware of it yet... ie will there be a new Radiohead album? Or will they have a mid-year freakout and postpone it? It's interesting now that I think about it, everything is now technically "last decade" or before, but there isn't actually anything from *this* decade yet. It's a blank slate. No idea what it's going to sound like once it's all said and done.
  11. How to never be bored: 1. Make a list of the top things you need to do. (Homework, laundry, ect.) 2. Make another list of the top things you want to do if you ever find the time. (Write a book, paint, go for a walk, ect.) 3. Spend the rest of your life avoiding the things on your lists.
  12. ^^Oh, wow. Glad (and relieved) to know that the Viva guitar is going to someone who will appreciate it. :D Congratz!
  13. I'm a realist. There will be good things. There will be bad things. They may balance each other out and they might not. Plan for the worst, hope for the best, and expect something in the middle. Now for the upcoming year/decade? I'm cautiously optimistic about the next decade, if only because the last one was so crappy on a global scale this coming decade won't have to do much to seem better. This next year, not so much- there's still a lot of crap from the past decade to work out and that's gonna take time. You can't be stupid for a decade and not expect consequences. ...Half of the glass's capacity is currently in use, and half is not. :P
  14. ^As I understand it, it's a type of dexedrine which is basically a close cousin to ritalin. It works about the same but people who might have side effects to one might not have side effects to the other.
  15. Happy New Year Everyone! Don't drink yourself stupid. From those quotes I'd say we need every collective brain cell we can muster. :p
  16. Don't do it you crazy people!! :freak: :p
  17. Oh, for the record, prorogation is supposed to be a last resort for emergencies type thing. It's not supposed to happen twice in one freaking year so that our stubborn cowardly little despot can advance his own political agenda. :bomb:
  18. Prorogue: "to discontinue the meetings of (a legislative body) without dissolving it" http://www.thefreedictionary.com/prorogue For people who don't know anything about how the Canadian government works, or is supposed to work, here's a funny summary of what happened last year: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi1yhp-_x7A]YouTube- RMR: Canada explained[/ame] And now for this year: Parliament suspended until after Winter Olympics Allison Cross, Canwest News Service Published: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 Prime Minister Stephen Harper has decided to suspend Parliament for two months, his office announced Wednesday. A spokesman from Mr. Harper said a new speech from the throne will occur on March 3, 2010, followed by a federal budget on March 4. Canada's Governor General makes the decision to prorogue Parliament, on the advice of the prime minister. Mr. Harper's spokesman Dimitri Soudas said Mr. Harper and Governor General Michaelle Jean spoke by phone Wednesday, but said he could not give out any details about their conversation. ... Mr. Soudas also said the government is not proroguing Parliament to quiet investigations into the handling of Afghan prisoners by Canadian soldiers. "The answer is no," he said. "The committee . . . has found absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing by Canadian soldiers, diplomats and the armed forces." http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=2392335 [um.. yeah, it still seems to be timed to cover up a public inquiry on torture allegations, whatever Harper's people say.] Canadian [Prime Minister] Shuts Parliament for 2nd Time By IAN AUSTEN Published: December 30, 2009 OTTAWA — For the second time in just over a year, Prime Minister Stephen Harper temporarily shut down Parliament on Wednesday, evoking accusations from opposition politicians that he was abusing parliamentary tradition for political gain. The move to end the current session of Parliament before starting a new one in March is not routine. Normally, governments take such a step only after several years in power to reset Parliament’s legislative agenda, often as a prelude to an election. The shutdown killed all legislation making its way through the parliamentary process, including bills championed by Mr. Harper’s Conservative government. It also shut down all parliamentary committees, including a special one that was raising embarrassing questions about the government’s policies on Afghans detained by Canadian troops before being turned over to the Afghan government. Human rights groups and a Canadian diplomat say the detainees were abused after being handed to the Afghans. Mr. Harper’s government denies the allegations. In a brief statement, Mr. Harper suggested that he shut down Parliament so that he could introduce a new economic plan in the spring. “While we see tentative, early signs that the economy is emerging from recession, the recovery is still fragile,” he said. Left unexplained was why the government chose to shut down Parliament rather than simply introducing a new budget. Parliament was originally scheduled to return from its break on Jan. 25. Now a new session will not begin until March 3, after the end of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. While recent polls have not put the Conservatives decisively ahead, they have shown that the Liberals, the main opposition party, are flagging. Analysts contend that if the Liberals continue to decline and the Conservatives can use the Olympics to their political advantage, Mr. Harper will again shut down Parliament shortly after it resumes in March and hold an election. Ralph Goodale, the Liberal’s House leader, called the shutdown “a shocking insult to democracy.” Libby Davies, House leader for the labor-backed New Democratic Party, called the move a “political scam.” Mr. Harper moved to shut down Parliament in December last year to avoid a confidence vote that almost certainly would have defeated his government, which does not control a majority in the House of Commons.http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/31/world/americas/31canada.html?_r=1&ref=world
  19. :laugh3: Well I've been living with it for a long time, and I spend too much time thinking about the philosophical implications of things, so I guess I have a lot to say.
  20. We're pretty sure my mom has it, though not nearly as bad as me. My paternal grandmother definitely had it, even if it wasn't diagnosed back in her time. Everytime I really screw something up my dad is like "you're just like my mother!":uhoh: When Dad met up with some of his distant cousins on her side, he found out that whole branch of her family is very prone to it- second, third, fourth cousins. It's kind of crazy. Even two of my first cousins -Dad's side- both have it as bad as I do. But they got it from their mom too. So there definitely seems to be some sort of genetic component to at least one type of ADD. That's exactly why I have no problem talking about it as much or as little as people are willing to hear. When I treat it like a normal part of life and no big deal, they do too. And I find that attitude seems to make it easier for people with other mental challenges to talk about them when they need to. Yes, it means having to have patience for ignorance and being willing to answer a lot of questions, but the less stigma there is the better the world will be. ADD is a challenge that needs to be dealt with. It is one small part of a big life, and I don't see why it has to define me or anyone. (Personally, I don't actually believe that it's a disability, but that's another long story...)
  21. Depends on how long the banning is for. :uhoh2:
  22. Hope not, but late nights with babies can change people. What the hooey is that from!? :stunned::laugh3:
  23. So long Reilly. Make sure you email someone every once in a while so we know you're still alive. :uhoh: You couldn't help yourself, could you?
