  1. Bigger Stronger was first self-released as one of the 3 songs on the Safety EP. Later it was released as part of the Blue Room EP once they got their record contract. It makes sense that they would be using it as their main promotional song before Parachutes was recorded.
  2. Never heard of it till now, but that is quite the find. ;)
  3. :nice: It's why I'm still here.
  4. Well I prefer Josef K. :p
  5. They won't break up, they'll just have more control over their music. Think about it- every song they've ever recorded from The Blue Room to LP5 belongs to EMI not Coldplay. As Radiohead found EMI aren't the sorts to give you any control later on either. They'll squeeze every cent they can out of it whenever they feel like they need to. And as they've said before, they like it at EMI (:freak:) because of some of the people there, so they may even stay on longer if those people are still there...
  6. Eno made them record a lot of the songs live together this time around. That's why there's more energy in them and if you listen closely you can hear Eno yelling in the background on a couple of them. :nice: :laugh4: Thanks for posting the article. I've read it before, but could never remember where. Lots of good stuff in there. :D I miss the pump organ sound... much better than electronic ones.
  7. Well my favorite is George Strombo from the Hour. But they've already done a whole special episode of his show. And it was good. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlwGShMNaoY]YouTube - Coldplay Behind the Scenes on The Hour[/ame]
  8. I love Orange Juice. :D The band and the liquid. Though with the juice you have to be careful not to get any of the juice off the skin in it or it will be too bitter. And I still think the band sounded better before they went too poppy. But that's just me. Yep. I get the impression they're not that well known, but Franz Ferdinand wouldn't exist without them.
  9. uh... it's victorian-style scifi with steam and gears and hot air baloons and stuff. :uhoh:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk Hee. :nice: I noticed that too. It's in the season 2 dvds. He likes a lot of current music- a surprising amount for how much of a workaholic he supposedly is. ...But it will always take a back seat to the Proclaimers who he never stops talking about.
  10. Glad you liked the humor for a change :nice: I take it you don't count giant steampunk robots as slapstick then... I like a good bit of steampunk every now and then, but I still haven't quite figured out what to make of that...
  11. Holy crap! He's cloning himself! :shocked2: *runs and hides* :curtain:
  12. Burial - Untrue (still gorgeous as ever :nice: and oh my word can it shake the house when played on a big subwoofer) Beck - Modern Guilt and not a gift but I got a decent deal thanks to boxing week: The Duke Spirit - Neptune (which I can't stop listening to )
  13. Heh... just watched the Doctor Who confidential. They started it playing Viva la Vida, and ended it with Coldplay's version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. :nice: Weird collision of worlds.
  14. Clearly you have some nice respectful friends, then. Not all of us have that luxury. It's nice to have someone gently acknowledging the absurdity of the situation every once in a while in an article like this. They're popular, innovative, the best you're going to find in the mainstream pop world, and yet the snobs (ie most of the music world) would rather admit that they listen to Katy Perry for the irony than that they actually think Coldplay can carry a tune. :dozey: I really do think time will be much kinder to Coldplay than the present.

  17. :inquisitive: Yeah... because the world really needs another social networking site... :uhoh:
  18. ^You're supposed to say "L". :P
  19. Indeed. (Don't remind me. I had a crush on that guy since I was in highschool about 10 years ago back in his "Roar" days. :bigcry: Seeing his twisted face everywhere like that now is just too much. owowow...)
  20. Hmm... maybe Ian has a spare stashed away somewhere? :idea2: A white padded cell might do some good as well.
  21. :laugh3: Well... he does have the hair for it...
  22. Yes, an album named "Freakonomics". Then they could have Steven D. Levitt suing them too.
  23. "Are you only being nice because you want something?" :singer::uhoh:
