^Awesome!!! I'm seeing them one week from this Sunday! *dances around!!* I'm so excited!!!!!!! I'm glad I could explain the Coldplay/U2 similarity for some people. Especially those who aren't familiar with U2. I don't like to think that a lot of Coldplay fans are getting turned off to U2 just because they're "similiar" or whatever. Or there's some rivalry?? :huh: It just upsets me! And vice versa. I couldn't imagine being a Coldplay fan without being a fan of U2. I think the problem is that a lot of old U2 fans heard Coldplay when they came out and thought it was like a sequel to I Will Follow or something (I have no idea, but I'm sure that happened). I sort of did it backwards. I heard I Will Follow and thought U2 was ripping off Coldplay... 25 years ago!!! :lol: :lol: I don't see any similarity between Unforgettable Fire and ANYTHING Coldplay's done so far. I can't even see where that's coming from. :huh: Chris and Bono have definate differences between their vocal styles as well. Bono puts much more use to his lower register and everything in between, and very sparingly uses his falsetto, making it that much more poignant. Chris, however, tends to lean on his falsetto and higher register for songs such as Fix You, etc etc, especially when the subject matter is one of loss or sorrow. That's HIS style though, and it works for me! As does Bono's. And if Chris' voice can sound half as good as Bono's does now in 15 years, than I'll be a happy camper ;) :lol: I really don't know if I'm making sense right now... :/ I just realised that I really like to compare Coldplay and U2, it's fun. LOL!!! Listening to the Unforgettable Fire right now (more specifically, 'A Sort of Homecoming') it definately cements in me how different Chris and Bono's approaches are. Bono's voice is so... HIS. As is Chris Martin's. Anyone who says that they sound the same is a fool. (I hope I'm not calling anyone on here a fool, because I definately don't think anyone is!!! :lol: :P ). U2 fans are much crueler towards Coldplay than Coldplay fans are towards U2, believe it or not. They're so damn hostile!!! I could never say anything like this, I feel, on a U2 forum because I'm sure it'd just be swept under the carpet and labeled "Blasphemy" :lol: One thing I do believe, and it's what seperates Chris from Bono for me, is that I don't think Chris could ever hit the notes that Bono does on Pride. I'd love to hear him try, though, and maybe prove me wrong. I just don't know if he has that range, or that power. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing! And I'm not saying Bono kicks his ass or anything, it's just a thought that randomly popped into my head just now. Honestly, I sometimes wonder if I'm Bono, I talk so much!!!! :P I'm sure I lost you all with this babbling. I'd just like to see some Coldplay fans come to appreciate U2 a bit more, as well as the other way around! I hope that by making intelligent comparisons between them I can sort of inspire some people to listen to just ONE MORE U2 song... And I'll hold to it, if you want to hear the closest Coldplay would get to a U2 album, listen to 'Boy'.

:bigcry: The ending had me crying too, Marisa. I feel so aweful for Sayid. And leave it to the writers for this show to get you absolutely HATING a character right until the end. Poor Ana.... I never even suspected that. I thought that the person had killed her nephew or something, not her unborn child. I can't remember) who she went to see in the hospital who started to scream and freak out? That was weird... Did Sawyer go to strangle her?? Didn't he whisper to Jack 'I love her'. Or was it 'I want her'?? I couldn't really hear. Great episode tonight, definately my favorite so far. I understand where you're coming from. I've dealt with people hating Coldplay around me and being judgemental towards my musical tastes for the past 4 years. Nothing new and no skin off my nose. I appreciate your opinion, and I hope you appreciate ours. It's obviouse, though, that when you joined here you had passive aggressive motives to this thread. You should expect an influx of negative feedback. I agree with you when you say that there's a lot of shit out there, but there are also some real gems. I've noticed there's this strange barrier between different fans of music. There's those who glorify the past while the future dries up, and there are those who latch onto anything, no matter how much it reeks, just because it's in the now and "fresh". Then there are people like me, who just listen to whatever the hell they want. Not because of any media biase or whatever. I don't listen to a band because they're popular. I don't listen to a band because they're undiscovered. That's a load of hogwash, if you ask me. The number of records a band sells doesn't make them popular. And being some sort of indie band just playing tiny clubs doesn't make them any good. There's an interesting dillemma, I feel, in the music world today. The musicians aren't trying to prove themselves, but the fans are. It's just something I've noticed. Everybody's so busy looking for the next "ground breaking" album, or the next "big bang" that they're missing everything. All in all, I very much respect your opinion and where you're coming from. I agree with you to some extent and I like how you defend your argument. I like when people try my patience, it's a good workout :lol: ;)

My mom's never come right out and said it, but I get the subtle hints. Like when I was rewatching the EMA's and Chris came out in his underwear. I want to hear that other version. Original is one of my favorite songs off the album, for personal reasons, but the version on the DVD is a bit dull, I've got to agree. Plus I had downloaded the whole performance probably a month in advance off itunes, so I tend to skip it now on the DVD :lol: :rolleyes: I have such ADD sometimes! Yeah, I got into the Arcade Fire after my concert way back in May. I had downloaded Wake Up before the show, by U2 fan word of mouth ( :lol: or whatever!) and went and got the album. I love Haiti and Rebellion (Lies). I wish I could see them open in Toronto.
