  5. this is what i don't understand,that's why i can't stand this thing
  6. ....to his fans,to play on a festival. This dude should be slapped in the face. With his band he's played all over the world and their albums has sold really well, and now he's asking money to play @ a festival ? This is fuckin ridiculous! Joshua Dibb, aka Deacon of Animal Collective, has been invited to perform at 2010's Festival in the Desert. The Festival takes place in Essakane, Mali, approximately two hours from Timbuktu. http://www.festival-au-desert.org/ The Festival provides accommodations, food and transportation once on site, but cannot help in international travel. In order to share the experience of his trip and help cover transportation costs at the same time, Josh would like to show his appreciation to those that help sponsor this trip by offering some unique and very limited items. While on his trip, Josh will document all the sites and sounds he can. Upon his return, all of his field recordings, writings, drawings, etc... will be collected and made available to those who pledge as a limited edition Book and a limited edition CD. Any amount is very much appreciated, and we thank you very much for considering to support this project. Who knows where bringing the music of Josh to another country, and allowing him to hear and feel the excitement and passion of the artists and environment of Africa will lead! Josh is ecstatic at being able to share this experience with those who believe in the project. Having you be a part of this trip creates a feeling of community and kinship with fans that cannot easily be put into words. We would also like to add that the traveling party to the Festival in Desert is comprised of three people and all the costs of international travel, transportation to the desert site, book production costs, CD replication, packaging costs, shipping, layout designer costs, etc... are what make up the financial goal that we are striving for. If there is any money left after these expenses, we plan to donate it to the Festival in the Desert . be well.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jQm6FnHzsA]YouTube- Codeine Velvet Club - Vanity Kills [New Song with Jon Fratelli][/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqm_JgJmX2A]YouTube- Codeine Velvet Club - Hollywood [New Song with Jon Fratelli][/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smnZx1dj7vg]YouTube- Time, Codeine Velvet Club Live, Glasgow 4/11/09[/ame] Codeine Velvet Club have to be one of the most surprising yet strangest acts of 2009. Consisting of The Fratellis front man Jon Lawler as well as Singer Songwriter Lou Hickey, they are a collaborate that 'share a love of 60s girl-boy duets, dark post-war Hollywood and Las Vegas romanticism'. Well opening track Hollywood certainly goes the right way about filling that rather specific criteria. With Lawler taking the reins, it bursts into life without stark warning. Hickey provides Broadway musical backing vocals until a stuttering stop start chorus resonates over a sea of strings. Think The Last Shadow Puppets with more Sinatra and less Scott Walker. The showbiz titled Vanity Kills also manages to impress. This time lacquered with horns, the boy-girl combo opt to share vocals this time as we are allowed to examine the vocal ability of the unknown Hickey to a greater extent. It's a voice that doesn't disappoint, never sounding overawed by the epic brass section on the record and manages to blend successfully with Lawler. At this point it all works nicely, achieving its desired sound providing the theatrical sound that the press release promised. However it all goes a bit pear shaped for a while somewhere in the middle. Time winds up sounding like something from the Rock Horror Show, whereas The Black Roses fails to get going and winds up leaving you under whelmed. If the first track was Hollywood this ones merely a B-movie. Like all good movie careers, a comeback is always possible and that's exactly what's achieved via the energetic swinging Little Sister. Sporting some monster riffs as well as a powerful anthemicchorus 'Hey little sister just slow down slow down hey little sister just don't let go' Its more glam rock that post war Hollywood but all the same its almost impossible not to get swept along with it all. The recovery at this point is complete and shows no signs of waning, even when they try their hand at the ballad Rest Avec Moi. Velvet Codeine Club then finish off matters with the flag waving Begging Bowl Blues which fades out gracefully to perfectly sum up an album that doesn't full short with its charm. An original idea, it's a record that manages to sound both retrospective with its nods to post war Hollywood glamour as well as modern with its strong riffs and song writing styles. Maybe not an Oscar winning performance but certainly worthy of a Bafta. http://codeinevelvetclub.com/
  12. Damon Albarn has revealed Gorillaz' third album will be called 'Plastic Beach'. Speaking to Paul Morley, he explained the album is nearly finished – and he has plenty of other projects that are also nearer fruition. He said: "This whole Gorillaz album, 'Plastic Beach', which is nearly finished now, started off as 'Carousel'. [it's] sort of about the mythical aspects of Britain. Obviously, because it's Gorillaz we've moved it to a different place, but it still maintains a lot of that melancholy." Albarn explained in the Guardian interview that his intention was to make a very pop record in reaction to The X Factor's domination of the genre. "I'm making this album the most pop record I've ever made in many ways, but with all my experience to present something with some depth to it," he said. "I've tried to connect pop sensibility with trying to make people understand the essential melancholy of buying a ready made meal in loads of plastic packaging. People who watch X Factor might have some emotional connection to these things, that detritus that accompanies what seems the most essential thing in people's lives these days, the celebrity, the voyeurism." The album, which is due out next year, will feature the Syrian National Orchestra – "I've done so much orchestra stuff for it, and I'm only going to use a fraction of it," he explained – while Albarn admitted he was unable to get legendary crooner Engelbert Humperdinck involved, admitting "you win some and you lose some". Alongside Gorillaz, Albarn explained that his next project will be with graphic novelist Alan Moore on a commission for the Royal Opera House, plus he is "making an album with Tony Allen and Flea which I've nearly finished, hopefully the end of this year… and I'd like to do another The Good, The Bad & The Queen album if we get the chance, because we’re all really good friends".
  13. i'm sure they will release a dvd worldwide
  14. First, he's got the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, nearly finished. According to a Guardian interview, it's the "most pop record [he's] ever made" and features guest turns from Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Barry Gibb, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, and the Horrors. (De La Soul are on there too.) Then there's the previously reported opera he's working on with Watchmen scribe Alan Moore, as well as a new trio with the suddenly ubiquitous Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fela Kuti percussionist Tony Allen (who previously worked with Albarn in the Good, the Bad and the Queen). http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/audio/2009/nov/28/showing-off-damon-albarn
