Unreleased songs from "Mylo Xyloto"
Hi driftaguy! Thanks for answering. I actually found something similar in the Coldplay episode of the South Bank Show (2009). That is a wonderful documentary, really detailed and well crafted with interviews to Coldplay, the magical Brian Eno, Bono and others. A shortened HD version of that episode is available in the Downloads section, but I would really love to find the full length HD version! I sincerely hope someone has it... Anyway, the board is shown towards the end, while Chris is singing "Wedding Bells"!

I also love Ghost Stories! It's such a beautiful and spiritual journey. I love its sounscapes, the sparse arrangements, the ambient sounds... Ah!!! Me too, I always had the same feeling. That sound of waves, of the ocean, is so ethereal and than there is that kind of symphony of bells, almost at the end. I think that part really represents the soul of the album. Anyway, in an interview Chris said that the song reminded him of the pier in Brighton's pebble peach and the end for him was like waking up on the shore with the feeling of "completely giving in to life".

I really love the albums with Eno. He is not simply a producer, he is an artist and a genius. Yesterday I have been listening to some of his interviews and it's really eye-opening to hear him discussing art and music. But to me it seems that he stopped producing big albums some time around 2013. Do you know whether it is for this reason that his collaboration with Coldplay ended? Maybe they could still work together on some songs in the future, fingers crossed!

I think it was meant to be a coda. Some Beatles' songs had something similar! Personally, I don't know what to think about "My Universe". I had not listened to the leak so this was the first time I heard the full song. I admit it sounds a bit flat to me, a bit shallow, I don't know why but the instrumental to me seems much better than the vocal version. But probably this depends on my tastes, I prefer acoustic instruments and ambient electronics over that kind of synths, so my opinion doesn't mean much in this context. Anyway, the song would probably make much more sense within the whole album, especially if the MotS motive continues through the record, linking all the songs, that would be very beautiful (pardon, biutyful!) actually...

The Race (unreleased song)
Thank you so much for your details! My heart (and my ears!) kept telling me that those versions could not be from GS! So the next step would be to ask ourselves: what did the original song sound like??

The Oracle archive?
Hi driftaguy, I went looking for the Oracle's answers a few weeks ago, but the only way I could think of was through the internet archive. As you said, only some of the questions have been saved there. By the way, do you know why/when the Oracle ceased to exist? I'm thinking of asking the Coldplay website. XD

Unreleased songs from "Mylo Xyloto"
That's really interesting, thanks! Actually I was looking for a source for the titles of unreleased songs like "Spanish Rain", "Gardeners on the Frontline", "1000 - 1 (Ballad Of...)". On Wikipedia it says that they were all written on a whiteboard, but I can't find any image of this whiteboard! ? Anyway, thanks a lot for your link!!

Unreleased songs from "Mylo Xyloto"
Hi guys, is there anyone among you that knows where I can find a photo of the famous whiteboard with the titles of the songs from the Mylo Xyloto sessions? I was interested in the unreleased songs written for Mylo Xyloto. For example here there are some photos but it's impossible to read anything.

The Race (unreleased song)
Yes, it might be. I was also considering the fact that the production style is closer to that of Stargate rather than that of Paul Epworth and Coldplay. Moreover, Will and the rest of the band considered "A Sky Full of Stars" to be a bit too energetic for Ghost Stories, which was meant to be a very personal and intimate record with a stripped down sound (I'm almost citing the Beats interview). So it seems unlikely to me that at the beginning of the recordings they had considered this version of "The Race" as the album opener...

The Race (unreleased song)
Thanks for the info, that's really interesting! Yes, also, whether or not the leaked version of "The Race" is the one from Ghost Stories, the first lines of the song appeared also in the the original, given that Mila Fürstová etched them on the armillary sphere on the album cover! ?

The Race (unreleased song)
Hi guys, I've been listening to the leaked version of "The Race" and, to me, it doesn't sound like any other song from Ghost Stories. I mean: 1) the production is not that minimalist, with a lot of echoes and vocal treatments, as well as a beat that does not seem to match that of GS; 2) the lyrics are not sad and reflective and resemble more those from AHFoD as they seem to refer to falling in love rather than going through a breakup (particularly those from the chorus); 3) the bridge "My heart is beating, the beat won’t stop I started sinking, drinking every drop" reminds me of "X Marks the Spot", in the way Chris sings on it; 4) references to kaleidoscopes were common in the AHFoD songs but not in those from GS. So I was thinking, are we sure that the leaked version is really the original song from GS and not an early reworked version for AHFoD? It's just an hypothesis... Also I can't remember the film edit of the song, have you managed to find it somewhere? ?

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
Hi guys!!! Last Monday an Italian newspaper published a brief interview with violinist Davide Rossi. I'm Italian and live in Italy, so I promptly went to the newsagent's and bought the paper. In the article Rossi also discusses his collaboration with Coldplay and to the last question: "Beside 'Higher Power' and 'Coloratura', what can you tell us about the other songs from Coldplay's next album?", he replies: "The other songs have a vintage sound but they retain the group's characteristic essence. There'll be their typical positive perspective on life, that 'good vibration' which is fundamental in these hard times." Hope you'll find it interesting! ?

Favorite 2nd Track On A Coldplay Album Ranked
For me, at the moment: 1) Cemeteries of London 2) Magic (I was about to put this one first, but it's still very close to the top) 3) In My Place 4) What If 5) Birds / Hurts Like Heaven (Still close to the top, though!) 6) Shiver I still have to buy Everyday Life and I have not heard the album yet, so I can't include Church.

Hi TheBigBadBono, thanks for answering!! Yes, that's what I did. Maybe users don't check their PM box very often. XD Anyway, I was looking for interviews from the "Ghost Stories" Era, but they're very rare and many that had been uploaded to Coldplaying before I joined the forum have mysteriously disappeared in the meantime. That's why I was trying to contact users individually...

Hi, I'm relatively new here and I need some help with the website. In particular, I don't understand how the PM system works as I have tried to message some users without receiving any answer from any of them. Also, what's the best way to request something from a specific user? I was looking for some old interviews and the threads regarding them seem to be inactive now... so I thought that maybe it was better to contact the users involved in those discussions individually. Thanks in advance!!

Hi! I saw you have been rating openers and closers from the albums. What about the artworks? They're all very beautiful (I love the fact that Coldplay pay so much attention to the design of their albums to make them a complete work of art), but I'll try to rank them, according to my personal tastes: 1) Ghost Stories 2) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends 3) A Rush of Blood to the Head / Parachutes (I can't decide they seem to complement each other so well) 4) Mylo Xyloto / Everyday Life (I love the photo, It really seems to come from a century ago!) 5) Music of the Spheres (it may grow on me with time...) 6) X&Y 7) A Head Full of Dreams

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I've been researching through some recent interviews and this one caught my attention. I had already watched it but something clicked when I read Chris's handwritten note with "Music of the Spheres (vol. i)" and the expression "it was is produced by Max Martin", so I went back to YouTube, looking for the interview. Maybe the second volume is going to be called Music of the Spheres as well (like the first four albums by Peter Gabriel). Moreover, they seem to be working on new music at the moment and this new music is probably not going to be included in the first volume as one of Coldplay's rules states: "Make sure videos and pictures are great before setting a release date" which likely applies to music as well, an album should be complete before setting a release date, track listing, etc... This is pure speculation, but I thought it could be useful to share it!

Regarding Will, I'd really love to hear a Coldplay song where he sings lead vocals, his voice is so beautiful and, at the same time, so different from Chris's. I've been hoping for a duet between them since "Princess of China", when Will had asked to sing Rihanna's part. Maybe in the future it will happen! By the way, I've heard an interview in which Chris recalled that some time in the late '90s he and Will went busking, singing "Mrs. Robinson", and were stopped by the police! It would be lovely to see them perform that song together!!

Yann Tiersen
Hi Everybody! I'm a Yann Tiersen fan too! I love his music, particularly his first three albums, they seem to be a kind of trilogy. Yann Tiersen is a genius, I wish he would collaborate with Coldplay some day. Maybe in the production of a song. But it will never happen.
