Coldplay Spies on Coldplaying...
Simple question: Do you think Coldplay have spies on our forum? Do they come here for feedback? What do you think?

Rank the Ghost Stories songs!
I love Ghost Stories, so it's quite difficult for me to rank the songs, but it's fun and I'll try! They work very well as an ensemble, so I can't easily evaluate them out of their context. Anyway, from the best: 1. Midnight: ethereal beauty, this one shows what Coldplay are capable of; 2. Another's Arms: beatiful sound and texture, the ghostly voice kind of transforms the song into a duet; 3. Magic: beautiful lyrics, and the guitar and bass really give this song its soul; 4. Fly On: simple music and heavenly lyrics, Jonny makes birds sounds with his guitar; 5. O: the message of the entire album in a minute of dreamy soundscape, although the long silence between "Fly On" and "O" could have been avoided as it places "O" outside of the record's flow; 6. Always in My Head: great album opener, sets the atmosphere for the whole journey; 7. A Sky Full of Stars: great song, both musically and lyrically, I love the echoing voices and guitar sounds at the very end of the track; 8. Oceans: strong lyrics with powerful images over a minimalistic instrumantation, the second part is lovely, with those bell sounds and the ocean of synths submerging everything; 9. True Love: again, strong lyrics and great guitar solo by Jonny; 10. Ink: this was one of my favourites at the beginning, now I changed my mind a bit, but I still love those cricket-like electronic sounds evoking the night.

🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion
Yes, that's right. And probably they won't be able anyway given the film, as Chris said in a recent interview...

So, is MOTS vol. II counted as one of the remaining 3 records or it is part of a single big album together with MOTS vol. I? What do you think?

"Mining on the Moon"
Hey there! Does anyone know something about "Mining on the Moon", the unreleased track from around 2006? I've recently come across a snippet of it on a Chinese website and it seems it was a kind of accordion-driven song (which would be lovely!), but I can't find anything else about it. I can't even find the source of the snippet which seems to be a radio interview with Chris...

First Coldplay Song/Album?
Hi! For me, the first Coldplay song I heard was probably "Paradise" and I loved it since then. But I didn't become a Coldplay fan immediately; back then I was more into electronic music (today I'm quite the opposite, as I love acoustic and experimental staff). Then a friend of mine who plays piano showed me a photo of Coldplay's MX tour piano with graffiti all over it and sparked my interest in the band. At that time "Magic" had just dropped out as a single, and when I discovered "Midnight" I understood what Coldplay were capable of. A few months later I received Ghost Stories as a gift and I subsequently bought Viva la Vida and Mylo Xyloto, this last one being my favourite album at that time. Then slowly, over the years, I drifted more and more towards Coldplay early music. Now my favourite Coldplay era is the Eno-Era, but I love their first three albums too.

Coldplay announces net zero world tour
Hi everybody, I'm thinking about the war a lot these days and it's something that is causing me deep sorrow and a feeling of helplessness. I find it so hard to listen to what's happening in Ukraine these days and, though things are getting worse and worse, the world seems like it is slowly accepting the fact as normal and the widespread condemnation of the attack of the first days is giving way to a cynic perspective over the war. And I hear more and more people wishing that Ukraine is sacrificed in order to end the war. If this is the world we created, I don't know what to say. If there is anyone among you who is suffering because of this meaningless war, I sincerely send you all my love.

Coldplay announces net zero world tour
That's really interesting! I did not know that much about the band. At the time GS came out, if I well remember, they decided not to release it on Spotify for several months. It's a bit sad, but the time they released a full live album for free as a sign of gratitude to fans or decided to include multiple songs within the same track to add more value to the record seems long gone... This said, they are still doing a lot, and maybe even more, for humanitarian organisations and research institutes, so we should not forget about this as I sometimes do.

Coldplay announces net zero world tour
Yes, I agree with most of what has been said. What about their connections with Amazon? I'm not a fan of the company and their behaviour in terms of environment ethics and social justice with workers is at least contradictory. But, again, as you have said, Coldplay are doing a lot by themselves to help and fund charities and environmental organisations.

Hi earthling, From what I know (but I might be wrong), BMW is at the forefront in the development of green technology for the automotive industry. From its Wikipedia page:Since 1999, BMW has been named the world's most sustainable automotive company every year by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. The band also explained that BMW is helping them with batteries and means of power production for their live shows. That's why they have a partnership with the company.

Music of the Spheres critic and user reviews
Ah, now I see!! Ahahaha, I misinterpreted the sentence and thought that the "final track" referred to the song at the end of the album rather than the final version of "Arabesque". Sorry, for the false expectations... 😅

It seems to say that "Everyday Life" was started in 2009: Rik explains that the bedrock of the final track is still that original take which was recorded over a decade earlier: “The song has evolved massively since then, but the basic groove and its driving nature have always been like that. The trick was getting the groove to bounce right, and evolving the piece imperceptibly over time, keeping the ear interested”.

It's a lovely interview with Rik Simpson and the Dream Team about the making of Everyday Life and more. https://musictech.com/features/interviews/rik-simpson-dan-green-coldplay-everyday-life/ ____________________________________ Yesss! I knew about "Rescue Street"'s past during the post-Viva and Mylo sessions but I thought thay had forgotten it. I'm so glad you told about this!!

Best unreleased song?
I love the unreleased songs from the "Eno Era". In particular "Wedding Bells", "Spanish Rain" / "Don Quixote", the original "Aliens" and "Famous Old Painters". Someone even mentioned a possible collaboration with the Pierces, but I can't find an interview where they mention it. That would be really nice to hear...

What will happen to the band after they release their last album in 2025?
I strongly agree with all of you saying that Chris won't do a solo album. I want to believe him when he says that the strength of the band is in its chemistry and in their deep respect for each other. Sting and the other Police members were heading towards different directions and the singer was already releasing solo music before the band's break-up. So I don't see strong connections with that case, at present. I believe that Coldplay will continue to tour and even that they will release other albums, maybe more experimental stuff or something collaborative. Anyway, thanks to @rono3849 for starting a thread on the topic!

Kaleidoscope EP
This is just my personal opinion, but I feel a bit disappointed when Coldplay decide to collaborate with some act that is experiencing its peak in popularity. It seems like they're a new group trying to be relevant through someone else. I deliberately said "it seems", as I believe that those collaborations are the way the band tries to experiment with genres in recent years, rather than a commercial strategy. However, I think that a successful group like Coldplay has the possibility to freely experiment with music without caring much about popularity. They could be the ones that lead the charge, so it saddens me a bit when they prefer to follow current musical trends instead. Concerning those three songs, they perfectly represent this exact perception of "Coldplay are trying to follow the radio trends". Personally, I love "A Sky Full of Stars" and it fits quite well within the flow of GS. The others are not my cup of tea, probably, but "My Universe" is certainly much better and much more complex than SJLT. This said, the live version in the Kaleidoscope EP is not one of their best releases, to put it mildly... (again, just my opinion!)
