Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Playthrough number: who knows? But this is turning to be a grower for me, liking it more and more. Good/Great/Would listen again: Church, Trouble in Town, Orphans, Champion of the World, Everyday Life, Sunrise, Daddy, Arabesque, When I Need a Friend, Eko, Old Friends, The rest/me no likey: BrokEn, WOTW/POTP, Guns, Bani Adam, Cry Cry Cry I think I just had to be in certain state of mind to appreciate certain songs, and I guess I am in that mood now, lol. So, what are my rankings now...? S Tier 1. AROBTTH (Mastapiece) A Tier T-2. Parachutes T-2. X&Y T-2. GS (Im a sucker for love/breakup albums) B Tier 5. Viva (overrated. good, but overrated) 6. EL C Tier 7. MX 8. AHFOD When I apparently controversially asked how EL projected on everyone's tier list after 3 songs, I guess for me personally, it projected to be A tier. I guess my disappointment came from it not living up to that hype with the rest of the tracks. Not the fault of the band obviously, but my own expectations. Nevertheless, I feel pretty sure about my rankings. Wish I could have more separation on A tier, but its really based on mood I guess lol

Everyday Life and depression
Thanks for sharing, it takes a lot to share something so personal out in the universe like this. I'm not going to act like I suffered anywhere close to what you're describing. One of the closest instances might be when I went through a breakup a couple years ago. As usual when im feeling down, I would turn to music/Coldplay and found myself turning to the sadder songs to almost dig myself a deeper hole. In time, what I came to realize is that when i'm happy I listen to Coldplay too. When im excited I listen to Coldplay. When im trying to get amped up I listen to Coldplay. I further realized the incredible transformational power music and Coldplay's music in particular has on me. I created a mantra for myself and a symbol. I'd like to share it with you. The Next Track >>| Basically it reminds me that even though I feel like listening to sad songs when im sad, all I have to do is hit the next track on shuffle and listen to a happy track, and my mood would start to lift instantly. Of course, this was just a silly breakup I went though, but thought id see if it helps you. Feel better soon!

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I think from your post, it seems like you like the album, but the comment I quoted is some of the reason why I don't like the album so much. It's hard to find a common denominator when all the songs sound so drastically different. You have one song that has a gospel choir, then the next has a sax solo, then the next has a voice memo, then (like someone said) you have a song that sounds like Chris honestly just noodling around on a guitar one afternoon. That being said, on my 3rd playthrough or so, listening to the album in full without skipping the previous heard songs, I like the album more and more. So far, the standouts, Church, Trouble in Town and Champion of the World (along with the 3 songs we heard previously). While I like songs like Sunrise, When I Need a Friend and Daddy, I only like it in the context of the album. I love and hate Daddy at the same time, maybe because of that friggin' title! Straight up hate Cry Cry Cry, BrokEn, WOTW/POTP I think : / Not sure if anyone said this yet, but doesnt Bani Adam sound like Colour Spectrum from LP7...? Church reminds me of a U2 song, cant put my finger on it. Definitely get the vibes at least.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Perhaps it was a vocal minority that made the crowd seem bigger than it was. I guess the visual I always have is looking around, seeing everyone having a good time at a party, and maybe feeling out of place, and the music is too loud. I don't ask the DJ to turn it down, I just maybe step out of the room for some fresh air? I guess we all have different ways to deal : ) ooh, no, im not asking for AHFOD 2.0 LOL. y'know, im on my 2nd playthrough and im already liking it a bit more, so maybe this is a grower : )

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
But thats what im getting at. You're 100% right in that you'll never please everyone. But at the same time, I dont feel the need to scream and kick and whine about not loving the album. I'm not wondering what i'll do next as a Coldplay fan, because maybe i'll just sit this era out and catch you at the next one. And thats okay with me! I do still love the band, and commend them for putting out an album they feel proud about. Out of all of the users, you're one of ones im glad found this era to be in your liking. I could imagine what its like 3-4 albums deep and feeling further and further from the band. So, im happy for you, go out and enjoy the era!

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Looks like I was at work while the leak happened, but some lovely Coldplayers sent me a PM. On first listen, I hate to say it and be a downer, but I do not love this album. I can appreciate what they're trying to do, but maybe its my fear of politics thats keeping me from loving this album; the last time I mixed politics and Coldplay, I was no longer part of the forum team. Thats not to say its a bad album, not at all, but its just not for me. I'm sure a good country album exists, but if its not your genre, its not your genre! I felt the first 3 tracks we got (Orphans, Arabesque and Everyday Life) were the best on the album, but I guess I was disappointed that the rest of the album didn't really project as high as i thought. What I was trying to get across in the previous eras, and what i'll be doing this era, is letting everyone else enjoy the music. Its okay not to love absolutely everything the band does, but it is not okay to put someone else down for liking it. Im hoping to provide an example as to how one should react in a fandom when they dont like the band's output. Be respectful of everyone in their opinions without resorting to namecalling and labeling. Not naming names or groups, but I general observations I saw from both sides. At the very least, I think this album can convey the same message im trying to say! That being said, I am so happy that most of the fandom, especially the ones that felt alienated from LP5-7, do generally like this album. There are definitely moments in the album that I very much enjoyed, production was great, but I guess I was looking for something else, more dare-I-say, radio-friendly hits? For some context, I place AROBTTH as my top album, I'm going to try and listen to it a few more times for sure, but at first listen, I dont recall anything jumping out at me, or begging me to re-listen to again. Thanks for your time everyone, and do enjoy the new album, and do make sure you go and buy it!

Lots of juicy little bits here and there in that interview. Chris referring to 'the next thing' they're doing has me excited in particular. I took a little break from the band since we got those 3 songs, so I dont know where we stand on the potential 2020 album; forgive me.

Because I asked and mentioned I understand how early it is. If you think its silly, thats because it is. I mean, we're allowed to be silly sometimes, right?

Everyday life - the track - Sunset
Wait, this is a single? Thought it was just a song they played like Amazing Day. I like the quietness if the ending and how it wasn't 'big'. Perhaps add a church choir backing up the Hallelujahs to add some depth and impact, but I don't mind this.

Not sure if I stole this idea or not, but interesting though nonetheless: Having heard 3 of the songs, at its current trajectory, where would you rank Everyday Life as an album amongst the LPs Coldplay has put out so far? I know, wayyy too soon, plus the full album is coming in a few weeks, but thought id ask!

2019-11-02 Coldplay Live on Saturday Night Live (SNL)
Every first performance is rough. I remember when they debut Viva la Vida at an MTV show and it was awful. They didn't work out the live elements that we know today, and they were no doubt nervous about showing off their baby. The performances, I thought, were fine for what they were.

Everyday life - the track - Sunset
I havent gone through and read all the responses, but apparently the ending is a talking point? Now, im not religious, but I'd say im somewhat spiritual. When I heard that ending, I could imagine myself 'arms open wide' chanting 'hallelujah' with a crowd of 20-50 thousand, and thats why I love that ending. Doesnt seem like this album will tour very well, but still, thats the visual I had. Someone brought a good point up about remembering this song in the context of the rest of the album and its placement on the tracklist. I dont know where i'd rank this song with the other 2 we know, but lets say Coldplay are 3 for 3 in my book!

Well, yeah, i'd expect most questions from interviews be prepared ahead of time, but these were next level. Im sure Noel is no different than us, tired of hearing the same questions all the time.
