===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
Hello oldplayers. Nice place you've got here! Before y'all go, 'eek, its that newplayer guy who likes to stir shit up', I'd actually consider myself an oldplayer more than an old one. LP2 was the album that got me hooked in the first place. And while I don't mind their work post LP4, I do rank LP2 as the best output from the band. Now that you know that i'm not here to troll, a simple question to the hardcore oldplayers: Is there any song post LP4 that you actually like?

Agreed. I love Batman, but I think she's off about this. I for one havent felt attacked thus far. I'm really digging the lengthy in depth posts from both sides. Shows actual thought went into responses.

Oh, you summed up my feelings pretty nicely actually!

@ttp, actually, I havent really seen users attacking users. Unless you said that as a precautionary thing. I think by now we all get that some of us like it and some don't. We're all just trying to understand the other side and why they feel that way. So far, i'm learning a lot about it in a way thats not abusive at all. I wouldn't mix up passionate responses with hateful comments.

Regarding creativity. My exact quote was I felt it was lukewarm to positive. I'll try to put it another way. I don't mind the creativity or lack thereof in this song. Lukewarm to positive in my book is around a 60-70% clip if you wanna put a number on it, which again, I am okay with. Again, I think its a bit unreasonable to expect 100% out of the band all the time. But this is more personal taste than something we can objectively argue on about. I'll skip the Christian Rock debate. Like I said, I'd like to avoid if at all possible. Regarding Coldplay decline and freedom to express so. I 100% agree with the freedom to express Coldplay's perceived decline. What I have an issue with (and I don't think its ridiculous) is how a poster can say they hate the song (or a more colourful variation of that, 'the song is shite') and not back it up with any tangible arguments for it whatsoever unless begged to. I've been on the other end and criticized Coldplay in other aspects of their craft (their MVs for example). I get fully that not everyone has to like everything that they do. Again, I just ask that ppl explain themselves. To me, providing the evidence is what sets trolling and criticism apart. Regarding asking users to leave. I answered this with another user earlier but to save you some effort I basically clarified the statement by asking instead why users stay around when the past few eras have provided nothing but disappointment for them. Of course you are free to come and go as you please. I'm just saying personally, were the roles reversed, I would have left a long time ago. Regarding the bolded part. Actually, I hear it all the time and i'm sorry, but this sounds like pretty much the same thing to me. This song, or Miracles, or ASFOS, or Paradise, or whatever it is, is always pointed at as a sign of the decline of Coldplay. I'm not even quite sure you wrote that as a direct rebuttal towards one of my comments, but I agree with you when you say its a respectable opinion and no one should be scolded for it. I too respect your views KidA. I hope you know that by now that I find you one of the finer posters on the board despite us being on opposite ends of the spectrum. However, regarding what i'd have done to make the song better, I am without an answer. Although, I would have gone back to a 'wall-of-sound' trick. Though it may been said that they've done it before, I'd take it breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't mind the lyrics (for the most part). I will say it does lack a...something...that makes me truly excited about the song that I can't put my finger on. That's more a job for the band that it is for me to say.

Had to unblock you to reply; had a feeling it was a directed to me. Perhaps I should have been clearer in my comments. I wasn't trying to tell ppl to gtfo, but rather questioning why they'd stay if the band clearly don't fill their needs anymore. It seems to me that its the same users time after time having something negative to say about the band. I don't have an issue with criticising, I really don't. In fact, I like hearing the other side of it and the thought process behind it. A few users here are like that and imo they're some of the 'better' users on here with the ability to actually show/backup what they mean. But again, without pointing any fingers, I've noticed a string of comments from the same users that are the same complaints. I'm just saying, if you and I were to switch positions, I would have left a longggg time ago; I wouldn't stick around a place I don't want to be in! I'm genuinely confused as to why someone would torture themselves like that. It wasn't an order to leave the forum ('cause you're right, I don't have that power), but a question of 'why stay?'. That's as much a question for me to ask than it is one for you to ask yourselves.

AHFOD Release Date?
Either way, I wouldn't use the creation of a wiki page to judge that. It may be true that the announcement is soon, but it would have been independent of a wiki page

Dare I jump into this piranha pit? Regarding views on the song: Regarding the use of 'God' in the song: Regarding this song as an indication of the fall of Coldplay: Final views: Guys, be excellent to each other. We (well, most of us) still love the band and want the best for them. I guess we just have conflicting views on what is best, but the passion is there.
