Shocking, nothing happened...I say just get notifications from all legit Coldplay sources (Coldplay twitter, email alerts, coldplaying.com) instead of staying up on Sunday night with fingers crossed. An anon said something about some sort of news "coming in the next few weeks". Too lazy to dig back, but when was that claim posted and what was the specific news they were talking about? Single, release date, tour dates/venues?

I think they have a very short term outlook which would explain them treating like every album is their last. They say it brings the best out of them. As far as Chris going solo goes, I say if Coldplay were to break up (which in itself is very unlikely), I WOULD like to see Chris go solo, just to have someone to follow from the band. And might as well follow the strongest songwriter in the group. I mean, when Oasis broke up, I was actually very excited to see Noel have 100% control on the job. But, uh, could we talk about LP7 now?

I think it was partially meant to hype the album. But what he meant is that the first 7 albums were meant to have a sort of unifying theme, and this album would be the last in that theme. It DOES NOT mean it's the last album they're doing; they ARE NOT splitting up. However, they are treating it like its their last so they give their best effort. Kinda like a 'live everyday like its your last mentality.
