These are all from "Ticking Clocks", the 2003 Steve Lamacq documentary on BBC Radio1. Chris: We have an enormous musical udder and we have to milk it very hard. Will: General inconsideration of humans pisses me off. Chris: The bigger a ballon gets, it doesn't take a bigger pin to pop it. Will: As we’re in traffic at the moment I’m not really nervous. Guy: On days off we’ve found things that we like to do, I like to go buy old records and find pawn shops and buy vintage stuff. Will: That’s P-A-W-N Chris: This is a song about when you really mess things up with your girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever you have in Denver Chris: There’s so much to hate about us now that if I was a writer I’d basically have an AK47 in one hand and a pen in the other and not be quite sure which one I wanted to use most Chris: The best cure for coldness is singing a Coldplay song Trouble, (They spun a web for me) Chris: What a wonderful world (I see tress of green…) I see the way its been rainin’, you’re enthusiasm’s not been changin’, They treated us nice, and so we might do a encore twice, As I think to myself, what a wonderful crowd. Chris: Will it be very difficult to get our production in there? Where the hell’s the chef gonna go?! That's one of the best Coldplay-related things ever, loooads of great quotes and interviews, had me in stitches. Will and Jonny introduced the show at one point and just the way Will says "Ticking Clocks" is hilarious, you must all listen to this at some point!
  6. I experienced that same joy when I converted a very close friend of mine - he didn't use to really like Coldplay but I lent him X&Y and he was hooked, he loves the instrumentals too. Next I need to introduce him to the amazing B-Sides such as Crest of Waves, One I Love etc and my mission will be complete...
  7. Well for me Coldplay are my favourite band and I have a good feeling they always will be. I personally love X&Y! I am trying my very very very hardest I promise you to find the same faults with X&Y that so many other people are finding but I genuinely cannot find them. I don't consider any of the tracks to be fillers at all. But that's just my opinion, there's no right or wrong answer, and everyone has different opinions. Just as long as their fans remain loyal and don't start moaning about stupid things, like, for example, The Verve and Richard Ashcroft fans have a tendancy to. "Will The Verve get back together, why has Rich released that as a single, that video is crap, his solo material is rubbish (but I still bought the album and have been to see him live 10 times)" and crap like that. I really hope that Coldplay's next album doesn't get the same reviews that it has from so many fans, people who expected 'more'. C,G,J,W aren't going to release rubbish (although they have released semi-rubbish in X&Y according to some fans). I know X&Y sounds different from the 1st two albums... so??? Too many Embrace fans are like that too - 'This New Day' is too different from the good old days of 'All You Good Good People and Come Back To What You Know' bla bla bla. Sorry for ranting, it's just disheartening when people compare to other bands and previous music - people and bands change, styles change, even clothes change!!! Is anybody upset with Coldplay's image, going from t-shirt and jeans student style for Parachutes to all in black rock god/Kraftwerk/stage crew look for X&Y??? CHANGE is the key people.
  8. A very good point one person made, Coldplay are not environmentalists, they are promoting Fair Trade. And flying is much more efficient and quicker than car or swimming - using planes less on its own isn't going to end global warming anyhow. And some coffee shops ONLY sell fairtrade drinks now anyway, without a rise in prices, so in some places you can't avoid buying fairtrade even if you wanted to. If you have a problem with Coldplay then I'd hate to know what you think about rappers etc who tell the world about motherf**kers, guncrime, rape, their homies and the rest of it - now THAT's TWISTED LOGIC right there dude.
  9. http://www.climatechallenge.gov.uk Enough said.
  10. I was glad The Kooks won an award, they're doing really well at the moment. Biggest shok was that Sigur Ros didn't win anything!!! They're one of the cornerstones of European music and have been for many years :S It was also funny how the "Best (...European...Country...) Act" only got a minute or so airtime, but this lack of European-ness has already been discussed... And Trevor Nelson the English presenter on the red carpet was a total kiss ass to all the 'urban' and 'not-quite Rhythm and Blues' artistes, all moaning that it was 'too freakin cold' - the music industry is totally totally totally fucked up at the moment, and has been for way too long. Thank God for talented human beings like Chris, Guy, Johnny and Will!
  11. So you mean that Chris doesn't play EVERYTHING on piano in live shows, they use backing tracks sometimes?

Amazing concert and album opener and an incredible song, very dramatic, great drum intro too by Will, great everything!
  13. Richard Ashcroft New fans forum for Richard up and running at: http://richardashcroftonline.myfastforum.org/index.php It would also be great to see any fellow Richard/The Verve fans at: http://www.richardashcroft.com Anybody going to see Rich during November/December on his arena tour?
  14. Just practice, practice makes perfect. Will rocks!!!
  15. Thanks so much Alyssa that's really good of you :) I'm not too good exactly on tabbing myself but for THP during the verses it seems to be a straight forward snare pattern, I think lol.
  16. Would anybody here please be able to post Square One and The Hardest Part drum tabs please? THP seems pretty straightforward but would just like written confirmation as I'd love to play along to this, one of my fave songs, and Square 1 is amazing also. Thanks! :)
  17. http://www.loosechange911.com "Loose Change 2nd Edition" is the follow-up to the most provocative 9-11 documentary on the market today. This film shows direct connection between the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the United States government. Evidence is derived from news footage, scientific fact, and most important, Americans who suffered through that tragic day. IT IS EVERYONE'S DUTY TO VIEW THIS FILM!" it has some mindblowing stuff and some things that it is difficult to argue with but everyone take 90 mins out of your life and have a look, though obviously take your own view and remember not to believe everything you hear, from anyone, ever!
  18. I was at that Keane gig! One of the best gigs I've ever been, they're so good live and Tom's voice was a definition of perfect. He only sung "Look at the stars" then he started laughing and the whole crowd cheered for him. He didn't sing the rest of it, he went on to sing Your Eyes Open, which he played on the guitar! I've ordered the Live CD and will try and get that little bit uploaded for you all.
  19. Will is the reason I started getting drum lessons and why my first drum kit is being delivered on Monday and why I just ordered "Play Drums With Coldplay" - that's how much I admire him, what a guy.
  20. I'm starting to learn the drums and have seen a kit for £220, the make is CB Drums - are CB any good? I've seen a Premier Olympic for £250 also. Any suggestions?
  21. I'd like to raise a glass to Will and his family, what an amazing, nice guy and a wonderful family :)
  22. You know you love a band when you want to buy every single one of their singles even if they don't have any B-Sides on them :P
  23. Does anybody have any idea exactly how old Will was when he started to learn the drums? My first lesson is on Monday and I'm 18, so I'm still hoping that it aint too late for me to do a Will Champion and join a soon to be bloody amazing band.
  24. This has probably already been mentioned but I saw The Hardest Part CD single with How You See The World B-Side available in MHV today. Anybody that wants it for their collection could get it there and save on postage from Australia or wherever else it was initially released.
  25. That newspaper review was a bit of a joke wasn't it - "humourless Chris"??? Chris Martin's one of the funniest guys on the planet!
