7. I'm still excited whenever The Killers have new stuff out. The new song "Human" sounds quite promising. I think it's somewhere between Hot Fuss and Sam's Town. Hope the album comes out great!
8. The Butcher is a gorgeous song! I could always feel that Owen Pallett-Beirut connection ever since Cliquot. I hope Zach does some guest vocals on the upcoming Final Fantasy LP though!
9. Wolf Parade - Bang Your Drum

11. wolf parade - kissing the beehive ketch harbour wolves - midnight dark water thank God for those Canadian musicians! :nice:
12. After a few listens, the vocals remind me of Editors! but, the band has its own distinct style.
13. I recently (three hours ago :D) discovered this band, and I'm so happy I did. The band's debut LP, Dead Calm Horizon is being given away for FREE at http://www.ketchharbourwolves.com/ I hope you guys give this band a listen and you might like it! I read somewhere that this band is being compared to The National and Interpol. Good bands to be associated with! However, I am yet to form a conclusive opinion whether Ketch Harbour Wolves' music is similar to those bands. My first impression, though, is that it sounds a bit like a more folksy The National. The vocals are awesome! Myspace: http://myspace.com/ketchharbourwolves
14. just found this: a bit creepy, but seems to fit the song very well.

17. Here's my review. Only 3 listens as of press time. Overall, it's not bad. Not the usual stuff I listen to. I heard lots of British acts here, which is something I'm not too familiar with. The mixtape is a bit long, though, twelve songs would have been great. Thank you for this mixtape! It pushed me to listen to more of Santogold! Hope you provide us the track listing so that we could know more about the artists included better! Track 1 - A British band definitely. The song reminds me of The Rakes minus the screaming. I like the rhythm, similar to Bloc Party's. I guess the title is "There's a Thing Called..." Though I don't listen to songs like this often, it's an ok track for me. I guess the artist is Macabees. Track 2 - I like the vocals here. I would have to say that she sounds a bit like Nelly Furtado. I know this one's Santogold though, as I've already listened to one of the band's song, you know, the one with Julian Casablancas and N.E.R.D! I like this one, probably a keeper, because the song immediately registered to me. Track 3 - "Happiness is an Illusion..." The melody is repetitive, there's not much variety except for the latter part. I was a bit bored listening to this one. Listening to it again, I liked the intro. Fratellis, perhaps? Track 4 - Very catchy intro. About suicide? Very energetic song, though. I love the earlier part, not so much the latter part. The latter's a bit messy. Track 5 - Very unique vocals. isn't this a Pete Doherty song? The title for this could be "Let's Get Married." I like this one, could use more listens! Track 6 - An interesting instrumental. Sounds a bit eerie with the static effects, haunting piano and what appears to me as foghorn. I'm not sure the artist, my bet is "Do Say Make Think. Track 7 - "Mercury?" Is this a Bloc Party song? I swear the vocals is from that Bloc Party guy. Nice bass lines. Track 8 - Hmmm, sounds like Kasabian meets Daft Punk. I dig the retroish sound. The song however drags in the middle portion because of lack of singing. Track 9 - I like the layered sound. Puts me in a different mood, like driving in the middle of the night, alone, in Las Vegas. Haha. Track 10 - I swear I've heard this song before, I just can't put my finger to it. I like the music box effects (or is it xylophone?) I name this song "Borrowed Time". Track 11 - A song Maroon 5 could have made. If it is indeed Maroon 5, I appreciate incorporating synths and the overall melancholic atmosphere. Track 12 - The female vocals is good. There's an almost gothic/darkcore feel to it. Track 13 - Santogold again! I liked this one better than the first. But it is better to put just one song per artist on your mixtape, so we can be assured of variety. Having said that, however, I simply like Santogold's style. This one sounds happy. Track 14 - "I Never Knew My Name," Could this be from The Teenagers? Not my thing, though. Well this song is simple and does not register that much. Track 15 - There's an odd sense of familiarity with this song, but I think this is my first time listening to it. Maybe I know the artist, so my best guess would have to be The Libertines. Upbeat sounding, I like this one a bit. Track 16 - My guess is Mando Diao. And the title is "Be Good or Be Gone," nice acoustic ballad. This mixtape lacks this kind of music, so I appreciate this one a lot. Track 17 - Sounds British, and I'm not that familiar with British acts. I don't think I like this one that much. The vocals are not very good and I don't understand what he's saying. Track 18 - Another instrumental! Nice idea. I like this one, not the usual stuff I listen to, sorta string driven, but has a modern feel to it. I don't have an idea about this one, Spiritualized would be my lousy guess. Track 19 - Retro sounding, very upbeat and energetic. I don't know the artist (maybe N.E.R.D.?), but it's a nice closing track.
18. thanks, i might like The Orb and Johnny Greenwood. By the way, here's the link to my mixtape: http://www.mediafire.com/?bx1gw11zo5g Feel free to review the songs here as well.
19. I haven't listened closely to the Virginia EP yet. However, it leaves a nice impression. Any favorites from the EP?
20. Haha, you're right!!!! Thanks for the great review! Though you only got one song right (and three artists correct), it seems that you liked most of the songs in my mixtape (except for Wolf Parade, lol, but I think you might still get to like the band in one form or another, which I will explain later *evil grin*). So here is the track list: 1. The Books - Vogt Dig For Kloppervok I like the samples used in this song. One of the clips used is from Lewis Carroll's poem, "Jabberwocky." The song provides a surreal atmosphere. You're right in saying that listening to this is an out of this world experience! 2. Lali Puna - Contratempo I chose this song because I always find songs in foreign language (aside from English) very interesting. This is for me very soothing but gloomy. 3. The Streets - Fit But You Know It The Steets are never boring. Pretty accent too. Lol. 4. The National - Squalor Victoria I like The National because of Matt's baritone voice. Yeah I guess this is a short number, but it's a grower. The strings and drum parts are not bad either! 5. Alaska in Winter - Close Your Eyes - We Are Blind Yep, that's Beirut's Zach Condon! He lent his gorgeous voice in this song. Well, the vocalist of Alaska in Winter sings using the vocoder, so this song really stands out from the album, because it's the most different from the set. 6. Andrew Bird - Scythian Empire So now you know! Lol. This my favorite Andrew Bird song. I read somewhere that he's a professional whistler, so his whistling in the song is more or less perfect! Haha. 7. Frightened Rabbit - Poke You're right about Frightened Rabbit's beautiful and heartfelt lyrics. Whenever I listen to this, I could really feel the singer's emotion. 8. Ólafur Arnalds - Himininn er að hrynja, en stjörnurnar fara þér vel I need to find out who or what The Orb is! A taste of Iceland. He's really talented you should check him out! 9. Get Well Soon - Witches! Witches! Rest Now In the Fire I'm surprised that you know this, of all songs! I only find few people who knows this one, so congrats! You really have a nice taste in music! 10. Wolf Parade - I'll Believe In Anything I used to hate Wolf Parade. Well, the band's music grew on me and now I find Spencer Krug a genius! (Don't shoot yourself plz!) 11. Final Fantasy - If I Were A Carp I'm not familiar with the music of Johnny Greenwood, but I am glad you like this, considering that Owen Pallett is one of my all-time favorite artists. It's the creepiest FF song I could find, so I added it to the list. 12. Sunset Rubdown - Child-Heart Losers I think in time, you will get to like Wolf Parade, if not, then you might probably love Sunset Rubdown anyway. This is Spencer Krug's (of Wolf Parade fame) side project. I like Sunset Rubdown better because the flow in the albums are more consistent than Wolf Parade's. I'll soon provide a link to my mixtape. I'll be uploading it soon. Hope the others will like it too!
21. i really enjoyed reading your review.:)
22. i'm going to watch it this week
23. Edward Norton - F*** Everyone (Rant) Not a song, but a monologue from his movie 25th Hour.
24. ike barinholtz and ron pederson formerly from MadTV probably the reason why i watched the show (aside from checking out those coldplay music video spoofs!) both are not bad looking either.
