White Shadows ultimately should have been the 4th single...but between What If and The Hardest Part, What If should have won. I love that song alot, it's single worthy, video would have been cool, and fans like it ALOT more than THP...and also, doesn't the band. I always thought the band loved it. I just don't understand them sometimes... Dave

I think that Coldplay are trying to release songs that represent every genre on the album, which makes sense Speed Of Sound = piano-driven...that Coldplay sound Fix You = ballad Talk = rock The Hardest Part = pop (?) Tracks like White Shadows, Low, Swallowed In The Sea, and What If? have already been covered. I think that's the way they're doing things with the singles...which is not really the best thing to do IMO because sometimes that means leaving good songs on the album! I just hope they'll do a 5th single...which they probably won't. But the album is still doing well! They wouldn't even have to promote it...just make it a single for the fans. X&Y has to be the album with the most single worthy tracks ever...and yet they release the one that is LEAST single worthy of them all! (IMO) lol. Dave

I hate Kanye...but it would be...well, interesting. If it's a single in US...it would probably go #1...and I don't want their first US #1 to be a Kanye West duet!!! Dave

I have this strange feeling that we'll get nothing good for b-sides...look at the 4th single b-sides of the past...nothing really all that exciting! I want 2 CDs and a 7" all with different b-sides on them! And the video better be AWESOME! Dave

The b-sides better be REALLY good! Like REALLY REALLY good. It'd be fine to release THP if they'd AA-side it with something good. That's the perfect way to get 5 songs released from the album! I think fans would be happy, too...right? Dave

^ i like THP just fine. it's fun and upbeat, etc...but it's certainly NOT single worthy. ESPECIALLY compared to tracks like White Shadows, Swallowed In The Sea, and What If. This is honestly the track I least expected to be a single...which is kinda ironic, cos IT IS! they've BARELY done it live on tour...so it really doesn't make sense to me. but hey, i'm glad Coldplay's the kind of band that'll do what THEY want and not what everyone tells them to. that's how every band should be...I just think they should've released White Shadows. it's a wasted opportunty for a massive single! I'm still holding on to that LITTLE ounce of hope, that just MAYBE, they'll release 5 singles. That would be nice. I don't care what it is at this point...everything else on the album is single worthy...THP is certainly NOT! Still really angry!!! Dave

Arr...this is just terrible! I don't believe it, though. Nothings been confirmed. The single should be White Shadows!!! It's a crime to leave it on the album. But, hey. Who's to say they'll only release 4 singles off of the album? No one said anything about THP being the FINAL single, just the 4th single! It's still not a single worthy song! Dave

^ Yep Square One, Speed Of Sound, Fix You, Til Kingdom Come, and White Shadows are the only tracks that've been done at every show. Well, Talk, too...just not at the VERY beginning...but once it was included it's stayed in. Also, How You See The World and X&Y were added after the first US leg and stayed in. I still think How You See The World MIGHT actually be the next single. I wouldn't rule it out! It still should be WHITE SHADOWS! Dave

^ no one besides radio 1 said THP would be the single. we (as fans) have litterally NO idea what it'll be. PLUS, they don't have to perform a single at the Grammys. They did Politik last time. I think it's stupid to use the Grammys to promote your new single, anyway. The Grammys are held in high esteem...it's no VMAs! HOWEVER! I want WS to be their next single. Plus, it's the best song on the album...and it's worthy of a Grammy performance! Dave

Square One is the album opener (but then again, so was Don't Panic), A Message is rarely performed, Low was taken out of the set and one of the e-zines said it probably wouldn't be a single, X&Y is the title track, and Twisted Logic has never been performed. So, I dunno! I REALLY wanted to be White Shadows! I'm still not convinced about anything I hear, even if it is from Debs. Maybe Coldplay'll release How You See The World as the 4th single. Who's to say they can't, right? Dave

She said the same thing (sorta) for The Hardest Part, though. She said "no, it's not. not that i've heard" that last bit makes all the difference! i just don't understand WHY Coldplay would release THP, though. They have NOT performed it much on the 2nd US leg! Yet, they've ALWAYS done White Shadows! It doesn't make sense. Maybe, they'll release a AA-side (which would make everyone EXTRA happy!), or maybe 5 singles? that would be cool, too! i dunno. Which part, the including after announcing as a single or being the 4th single? Clocks was 3rd from AROBTTH. I believe (99% sure) that Clocks was the LAST track added to the album, and almost didn't make it, in fact (according to Storytellers) no one thought it would even be a hit! I know Clocks was the 3rd single, but I think that GPAS was always on the tracklist. I could be wrong though! Dave
