WinAVI does a great job on converting different video files to .vcd, .vob and many others. I also recommend it. Your standalone DVD player doesn't read .avi files or .mpeg ones? That sucks. My standalone DVD player can read .avi, .mpeg, between many others... It can also read cd-r and cd-rw.
