For all the promise of growth and experimentation, Lovers and Japan is the song to feel most like all the other Coldplay singles. It's pleasant and a natural choice for radio play but certainly not my favorite on the album. And I too don't understand the hate for Reign of Love. That's a serious piece of beautiful music. Doesn't anyone appreciate how difficult simplicity is?

Now that we have a whole new batch of songs to work with, and I know you've all listened to them as much as I have, I think it's time to sit down and try to come up with a Best of Coldplay mix that can fit on one CD (that's 80 minutes or less). Warning Sign 22. The Escapist

This and Strawberry Swing are the extreme highlights of an otherwise muddled album. I can't imagine anyone hearing Reign of Love and not realizing how beautiful and effective it is.

I think Lost! is the worst song on the album and perhaps their worst ever. Coldplay have always been able to toe the line between sappy adult contemporary and hipster-approved alternative pretty deftly for me but this is a full blown cannonball into Starbucks territory. Bad lyrics and definitely overproduced. After five or six complete listens only this and Yes get skipped now.

I think you all are getting carried away. Remember that there is much more to an album's "artwork" than just the front cover. NME will likely reveal the inside of the cd sleeve and I imagine the back cover is where you will find the words Death and All His Friends.
