Gah! They ALMOST Did It!
i'm probably way off mark, but, as poppies suggest rememberence for those who have passed (particularly soldiers) might there be some significance to it? its the first thing i thought of anyway.. 'i don't want to die on my own tonight/but here i lie on my own in a seperate sky' and then it drops off.. and then comes poppyfields... or maybe not :shy: :P M.

EP should have been free???
not so nicely said. nicely said :nice: i completely agree. its a weird time for music. the whole foundation of the business has been crumbling. its nice that musicians are coming up with ways to keep themselves afloat (and with the world's economy right now, its nice that we do get some things for free) i remember Richard Ashcroft was saying once, that after his music is released, its not really his anymore, but that it belongs to the people in which it means the most to. and while I like the idea of that (and agree to an extent) if bands gave away too much, they wouldn't be able to sustain the expensive task of keeping themselves at that certain level that they've always strived for. (honestly i don't know the first thing about this :P) but, it does strike me as silly to expect to get these things for free, when a) it costs quite a bit to put these things out, and b) they've already given us quite a bit free of charge. also, an awful lot of very successful musicians (coldplay included) are quite philanthropic. its all recycled sound, and its recycled money. ..oh i don't know :shy:

Oxfam America Hunger Banquet
I went to one this last friday at college, and was curious if anyone else had been to one, and what they thought of it? M.

EP should have been free???
oh dear. i'm not sure what's being argued now :P but it got me thinking. and if i could just add my two cents.. i can think of verry few bands who sound completely original. i think now its just about the art of splicing together everything around you in a way that comes out as somewhat your own. there's only so many notes to play, but a hundred people playing the same notes all might play them differently. so coldplay sound like the arcade fire, who sound like u2, who sound like the arcade fire, who sound like coldplay, who sound like... its just recycled sound. if we're going to bicker about originality, it all could be traced back to thousands and thousands of years ago. (alright, not anything coming out of an amp or a computer per say, but the basic sentiment is still there) every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a theif :nice:

^ me too. i'd bet a lot of us will be spending some time this weekend finishing them up. i made about five different versions of mine yesterday afternoon, and i can't decide which one i like best. by monday i should have a stack big enough to sell on street corners for a dime each :P i don't see how it should be a problem for people overseas though. if we send them sometime around monday.. they probably wouldn't get to the PO box very much before Dec. 1st anyway. oh and, thanks (again) :nice: M.

:nice: well said ..there's another address?
-
Postcards From Far Away project | Previous pre-delivery discussion (thread closed)
^ exactly, that's what I did. cardstock works really well ..even note cards (but cardstock is a bit nicer - no lines etc) printers have different settings, but there should be one that says something like 'cardstock' or 'postcard'. if not, the photo paper setting is good, even better if there's a 'matte photo' setting. /end geekiness that's a good idea about putting the address somewhere in the multimedia section. it should be easy enough to let the other parts of this project know, while still keeping the info safe on here. and also, eeeee :nice:

how easy would it be to pm multiple people? that'd be a safe way of getting it to those who won't take advantage. or making a private thread? ..we could always get on inventing a super special top secret coldplaying.com code language. :P

What song do you want to be the next single?
^ i agree, strawberry swing has something to it that a lot of coldplay songs haven't got. i can see people who normally wouldn't listen to their music falling in love with that song. its just undeniable. :nice: saying that, i somehow doubt they'll release another single off VLV
-
Dare I say that Prospekt's March is Better than VLV?
*shrugs* if the songs each have a color, then they're a bit like crayons, in which case you can pick your favorites and handily keep the others in the box :nice: i do think jay-z gets an awfully bad rap for a good rap though. but then i guess there's nothing wrong with keeping that crayon in the box *smiles* M.

aww, glad that helped *grins* that song is absolutely amazing isn't it. i hope, just after i die (if i can still hear, as i won't have ears anymore ..buggered) that that song will be playing. i think it'd make the perfect soundtrack for travelling to heaven :P anyway, i'm happy you found it (: M.
