*grins* Ken Nelson's produced an awful lot of my favorite albums. I do think he's pretty amazing.. as much so as Brian Eno, only with a different approach, and a little less fame :nice: (on the subject, it's like pulling teeth trying to find more information about him. i've got shopping lists longer than his wikipedia entry) It'll be exciting to see where the band goes from here. They must have so many new ideas that've come out of all this. Whoever they do choose to work with should feel pretty lucky (: M.

I remember hearing that song on the radio and thinking he sounded an awful lot like Chris Martin too (though there's something more cozy about Chris') :nice: Anyway, its not a bad album. its like instantly being transported back to an old southern church or something. i want to go put on some overalls and sit by the river *smiles* this is what's so great about coldplay though. a giant band, and they go and give away something completely weird and completely brilliant. i agree though, its even more fun with the full band and will singing. he's got that twang going on that suits it perfectly :nice: M.

they've certainly influenced me :nice: ..there's a band called Thirteen Senses who have quite a similar sound to Coldplay's, though I'm not sure if they've owned up to borrowing their kind of sound. I don't think I agree with any bit of it) as a complete aside, their song 'Into the Fire' is pretty fantastic. anyway, good luck (: M.

That's alright :nice: I would've been a huge gamble anyway. The thing about keeping to the rules works me up a little, but its far out of my control (and it looks as if it wasn't just my region's radio station bending the rules a bit.. apparently in boston, they'd already chosen the top 15 a day before the entry deadline) so in that way it could've been worse. And as for the good bit of it (music!) I don't think I can physically go a day or so without playing or writing something, so this doesn't change a thing. I think its good to take chances, even if nothing comes of them, so I'm glad I went for it. I got something out of it anyway.. practice, a new song to add to my catalogue, some new friends, maybe a little more confidence. Its all good (: As for the band ever giving me a listen.. I think they might be a little busy right now :P M.

thanks you guys :nice: the radio station in my region chose their top entries this morning, and I didn't make it through (but at least I can say I tried, hey? :P) they chose more polished bands, which I would've done too, to be honest. the only annoying thing is that the radio stations for each city haven't exactly been following the rules set out. the winning bands have music videos with their pre-recorded studio songs playing over it (it was meant to be live, and judged partly on performance and ability) but aw well (: at the very least, I got better these last couple weeks, and made some new friends :nice: so, I just wanted to say thanks for the support, regaurdless of how things went, and how much more improvement I need to make. it means a lot. M.

^ I think this looks worse for Capitol than it does the boys.. I'd say its a good one on them for potentially having a say in stopping Capitol from messing around new artists. I sincerely doubt they would have approved, and I also doubt it'll effect them at all. The only trouble I had with the rules before was the absolute control Capitol would have over all creations from a band thereafter... and it doesn't seem to be that way anymore. In short, a) maybe don't be so quick to judge? and b) I'm still pretty darn excited :nice: M.

You're absolutely right. I didn't mean that really :nice: Its just the massive oppurtunity that this contest might have to offer. I suppose what I really wanted to say was, the exposure I might get playing music around tiny cafes in my (rather) small town just pales in comparison to playing at a huge venue in a huge city for a huge band (popularity, not waistlines) *grins* I know most bands start off playing little tiny places, and they're incredibly important for getting the ball rolling. I didn't want to sound ungrateful for getting to play little shows here and there. Its not really what I meant. Just wanted to clarify that :nice: Chuck, I wanted to especially say thank you for continuing to take a serious interest. You always have insightful posts, and I really appreciate them (: Saying that, I didn't mean to say that I suffer from stage fright :P Its funny.. I'm relatively shy and quiet in everyday activities, but something about hiding behind a guitar/piano/mic completely changes me (popeye had spinach, the hulk had the gamma bomb, I've got ..music?) Oh I don't know :confused: Chances are I wouldn't have to worry about that at all anyway. The best thing that has come out of this is all the practice, and all the words of encouragement :nice: Those two things are much more important than anything Capitol Records can offer. Bah. :P
