  1. 1. It reminds me the Spell a Rebel Yell. (Brian Eno? :/) 2. It's almost summer, lots of festivals ahead so this song fits very well. 3. But i think/hope it's a bonus/pre-festival song - not a single preceding new album. 4. I've gave it a 3/10. Title (10), lyrics (8) - final song (3) - sorry :p. 5. I listen it without a thrill. 6. But I stamp a feet to it :D
  2. I have the tickets ! :) They look like this: http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7871/bilets.jpg June 30th is now so close :).
  3. Yes. This just made the VLV, ending and opening it, as a travel through many music styles - for me vlv songs were very various.
  4. http://www.dominorecordco.com/uk/news/28-10-10/jon-hopkins-makes-music-for-monsters Knowing that Jon works with Coldplay on LP5 I'm sure it will be amazing. Just listen to this track - the main theme from Monsters the film :)
  5. Adrienna's ? Is it compared to another cover by 0AdRiaNleE0 on youtube ?
  6. Oh christmas lights bring me a piano chords for cover like this :) Great cover, great piano version ! This sounds like played form somekind of official sheet music for this song.
  7. Yes. It's definitely best part ! :) ! Those Christmas lights, light up the street. Maybe they’ll bring her back to me. Then all my troubles will be gone, Oh Christmas lights, keep shining on.
  8. Hmmm... When 'Christmas Lights' piano preview version came out some time ago in '60 Minutes' I was really amazed. Now when I listen to yesterday released preview I noticed that the melody is slightly diferent, so now it's even more similar to Auld Lang Syne. But the reference to this well know british song, often sung for start of the New Year, is understandable :). (?)
  9. This is the simplest explanation of the meaning of the song.
  10. A Meassage is a good song for creating a string based orchestral version with characteristic drums (which are in orginal version) and your early version (builded in FL) is very good. Keep working on it :). (adding Chris vocal with some reverb and choir in ref. would be great!)
  11. Great work !! The singer wasn't so bad (maybe with less reverb and in some parts singing more dynamically would be better). Drums and guitar played well. All ooh's & uuh's where in. Maybe additional electric guitar would complete the sound (make it more colourful).
  12. i think this picture really fit into Violet Hill climate...
  13. nazi or not this revolution, so also this painting, is a bad example of "fighting for freedom" and all that stuff, that could be connected with title Viva la Vida
  14. if that painting was presenting a fictional event - ok. but when this painting is connected with such a bad revolution, it is obvious that you could ask: why then putting on it a title viva la vida ?? fortunately there are still some books, articles etc. where you can read a true facts about this anti-french revolution - facts, not only a hopeful declarations.
  15. just a signature of painter :)
  16. imo they should put somewhere "death and all his friends" because this title(subtitle) has more in common with this bloody revolution :) (and "viva la vida" will never fit to this painting but if someone believes to this fairytales about french revolution, about fighting for freedom etc. - fell free - but this would be naive and caused by lack of knowledge about this revolution and so about this painting)
  17. the X&Y was a greate idea :) and of course tomorrow about 12:15 am there definitely will be no reason for argue about the artwork :D :D
  18. this is interesting :) some idea (like viva la vida) sometimes leads to death ahd all his friends (so i tnihk that a combination of full title and the painting would be more intelligible) i agree with that - that imo was the intention of the band / artwork author.
  19. nazi-themed album would be horrible, but this theme is not much better (maybe not so obviously for most people but technicaly french revolutionists, bolsevists and nazists acted the same: "who isn't with us is against us and must die" sth like that, so they where raady finaly kill themselves - countryman's - for a "greater good")
  20. Historian François Furet in his work, Le Passé d'une illusion (1995) (The Passing of An Illusion (1999) in English translation) explores in detail the similarities between the French Revolution and the Russian Revolution of 1917 more than a century later, arguing that the former was taken as a model by Russian revolutionaries. This is in partial contrast with the Marxist tradition, which has usually claimed that the 1871 Paris Commune was the Bolsheviks' primary inspiration source. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution "The three fundamentally leftist revolutions, those that spawned France's democracy, Russian's international socialism, and Germany's national socialism, formed and fashioned the history of the last two hundred years and established the 'Centuries of the G' — guillotines, gaols, gallows, gas chambers, and gulags." Leftism Revisited, pg xvii Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_von_Kuehnelt-Leddihn
  21. of course the American Revolution would be great :) but (anti)french relvolution was to violent and "the French Revolution ironically was a failed revolution: Liberté, Egalité, and Fraternité quickly descended to the towering figure of Robespierre and his Reign of Terror as the revolution spun out control and began to murder itself. First the royalists were beheaded, next the moderate girondists, and by then the violence and suspicion was totally out of hand as the revolution devoured itself." so hard to compare American and French revolutions (some may compare French revolution to bolshevists or nazists) so putting such a painting is almost like putting a paiting with bolshevists or nazists)
  22. revolution, dead bodies, kid with guns on the right - I can't see any positive meaning like "Viva la Vida" ?? (they not celebrating) (dead body of a french officer and flag of france in hands of rebels - ironic but also nothing with "Viva la Vida") ...really naive combination of the painting (it's meaning - also historical) and the title imo they could invent sth better
  23. nice...:) free download so no need to record Violet Hill from the radio :D also new album/single font is good but... the album artwork (as a combination of title and painting) is really naive - french revolution and title "Viva la Vida" ?? :/ "Death and all His Friends" would be better, because actually (anti?) french revolution was a "death and all his friends" (death, suffer, hurt etc.) for many people (major innocent victims) - so the motto "liberty, equality, brotherhood" was a piece of s... no only imo :)
