  1. even as a kid, i always cracked up when kermit did the YAAAAAAAY thing :P still love it, actually :D
  2. eesh, well that makes sense, but i think i'd claw my eyes out, 1.5 hours of one subject! i guess it makes sense, but i know even with 50-minute classes in my high school 8 times a day (and uni, for that matter), i'm getting pretty bored by minute 40 or so and am grateful to leave by minute 50...i can't imagine having to endure for 90 mins! i guess it's just what you're used to, though: 4 classes for 1.5 hours or 6-7 classes for 50 mins. though i will have a class every wednesday this semester in creative writing and i think it's THREE hours long! :dead:
  3. upright like vertically? (|) yes, mine are all stored like that, in a specially-sized storage box for records. this is why i'm quite confused. though i did leave it on my record player for like 3 days, but really? i don't think that's where it came from. i guess i just have to buy a new one :embarassed:
  4. ok, can i ask a dumb question? :dunce: what is block scheduling, exactly? i kind of have no idea what that means. is it a public school thing? we didn't really call our scheduling anything in my old school...it was seemingly random order of classes every day, different for each day of the week.
  5. annie, i LOVE the new avatar! :nice: [/random]
  6. awww, fake plastic trees AND no suprises! those are the only two (realistically) that would have made mansfield better for me
  7. yaaay for shawn johnson :nice: i haven't really been following track and field so much, but i really did feel terrible for lolo jones in the hurdle tonight. that was really heartbreaking, if anyone else saw  it's interesting that this year i tend to root for the americans WAY more than i have in the past. before i always went for the underdog and the most interesting nations, but now that i'm older and tend to listen to the commentators more, i just tend to get wrapped up in the americans's stories more because i'm watching the american broadcast, and they only talk about the american athletes, don't they? it's all very "USA! USA!" and i've never been like that, but it's kind of hard to not get sucked up in the personal stories or whatever that they're always blasting on NBC.
  8. yeah, i had APUSH (and APMEH, for that matter) for 1.5 years each. after my class did it, they changed them to only being year-long courses, and the kids suffered. the APUSH class didn't get past WWII in one year! that majorly screwed them for the exam. i think i liked APUSH material better than APMEH material, i have to say, but my teacher for APMEH was way more passionate and into it, and that just made it better.
  9. awww, i liked APUSH. it was kind of hard, but i had my favorite teacher for it (my school was so small that teachers teach multiple subjects, so i'd had him three times previously). he could be a total ass, and he made it hard sometimes, but it was really fun for me.
  10. yeah, i saw that rosetta stone commercial too on youtube. if you youtube search michael phelps, you can get like every commercial he's ever been in, and it's surprisingly a lot. i've only actually ever seen the ellis island one, and that was today! :p actually, i've seen that visa one they've been running on NBC recently, but it's just stock footage of him swimming with morgan freeman talking over it all.
  11. hahaha, well i thought that too, but the rest of it didn't click for me. figures :dozey: not that it really matters much anyway, when i think about how many people will be entering this :P
  12. haha, well that is true. but i don't know, i just feel that given the chance, i could do OK without a college degree. i'm better at teaching myself things anyway from books :P
  13. arabic is pretty awesome, and i found the basics pretty easy. but i know it's going to get impossibly hard soon :\ is it bad that i'm tired of school at age 18? i just want to get on with life.
  14. i'm a moron too! i sent in my freaking email address, and just realized that they meant home address, so i sent in another just now. wow, that was stupid of me!
  15. haha, well my sig pic is TOO big if you ask me, but any smaller and its quality/readability goes down. anyway, i always upload the pic to a website like imageshack and then put the url between image tags , and i think you can make them as big as you want :D i think my record must have gotten a bit melted or something; i just don't know how :bigcry:
  16. haha, lots of arabic, yes. as much as i liked arabic when i took it in high school, in uni it's a bit more intense, so i'm kind of nervous. especially because it's every freaking morning at 8:30. i'm not a morning person :P population's sociology sounds awesome!
  17. ok, and i just saw michael phelps in a "we are ellis island" commercial, and he was especially adorable in it  i looked like :stunned: when i saw it was him :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NV3MKhnfPE
  18. don't all you guys that have the same schedule every day get bored? i'd hate to have math first every day...i liked that we changed it up a bit in my school.
  19. i don't know, i don't really think that's a really attractive picture of him, at least of his face. i think he's prettier when he'e not smiling :P
  20. ^100% agreed. i think pretty much everyone looks better with longer hair. what an adorable pic! :nice: i can't wait for london 2012 (for a number of reasons), but if all goes as i plan it to (not all that likely :dozey:), i plan to be living in/around london in 2012, so if i am, i will try my damndest to buy ONE ticket to a swim meet where michael phelps is swimming :D i still watch the olympics obsessively, and my attention has shifted from swimming to women's gymnastics. that ends tonight, though, so i don't know WHAT i'm going to watch next, but i know it'll be something.
  21. agreed. the commentators were even pissed, and there's videos on nbcolympics.com that debate it with experts. the system is ridiculous, in short, and they should have used it somewhere else as a trial run before using it in the freaking OLYMPICS. poor nastia (but i still think the greater disgrace was with alicia sacramone and the vault). it doesn't sound like there was any controversy with the beam, thank god. i'm excited to watch that tonight, though now that i know the outcome, it makes it a little less fun.
  22. MONDAY: arabic (8:30-9:20), intro to american studies (1:30-2:45) [i've already taken a class in american studies, but this is required if american studies is my major] TUESDAY: arabic (8:30-9:20), intro to film studies (1:30-2:45) WEDNESDAY: arabic (8:30-9:20), creative writing: fiction (1:30-4:15) THURSDAY: arabic (8:30-9:20), intro to american studies (1:30-2:45) FRIDAY: arabic (8:30-9:20), intro to film studies (1:30-2:45) i wish i didn't have to get up so early every day :dead:
  23. thanks to the lovely annie, I'M GOING TOO! i was debating it for a long time, but on sunday night i just decided not to bother to look for tickets online. i'm seeing them in NJ the weekend before, and it's kind of a big production for me to get to philly and back without a car. so i just decided to leave it for now, and perhaps buy a single ticket later if i felt strongly about it. but then...i sort of came into a ticket from a very nice friend :D :nice: i have to work out all the transport part of this, but i have time. OMG can't wait for my coldplay double-play!
  24. somehow, the b-side of my VLVOD vinyl busted. it sounds all wonky now and isn't perfectly flat anymore. i have NO idea how this happened, especially since i was away for most of the summer and it was safely in its case, but i'm rather sad :bigcry:
