  1. ^which is why i feel like a complete idiot for not noticing it before!! :laugh1: i wasnt a radiohead fan when i first saw goblet of fire so even if i did know i wouldnt really have cared, but when i found out a few months ago i dug out my DVD and died laughing. god, there are so many good scores this year!! i've seen the preview for there will be blood six times in theaters in the past few weeks (no joke :P), so i got a good taste of the music then and thought how incredible it was that it gave the preview THAT much of a creepy, ominous feel. i just listened to the previews on itunes a minute ago, and jonny is a genius. it's not up for a golden globe, though! i'll have to wait and see it to decide 100%, but in terms of golden globes, i'm all for atonement and then the kite runner winning best original score.
  2. holy CRAP! just two seconds ago i looked up the movie there will be blood on wikipedia and to my complete shock in the intro bit it said "the music for this film was composed by radiohead guitarist jonny greenwood." whaaaaa? :stunned: how did i miss this?! i'm a film student and a huge movie nerd, so i've been planning to see there will be blood for weeks (it comes ot my local theater on friday), but now i cant wait even MORE. how did i not read about this before?! i can only liken my surprise to the time i worked out that jonny and phil were in the band the weird sisters in the movie harry potter and the goblet of fire :laugh1:
  3. oh, believe me, i know. i just dont talk about it much for that reason. if i immediately placed the usage of the phrase as chris martin, i wouldnt have said anything at all :P
  4. cant wait to see. i'm actually chopping all mine off to chin length on thursday as well! and happy (early) birthday anna!
  5. ^ i thought the same thing. and even though i wish i could believe this, i'm not falling for any date that doesnt come through the official website. or if chris martin decides to show up at my front door and tells me...ok, so i'm only believing it if it coems from an OFFICIAL source
  6. watching house right now...and i laughed a little when i saw wilson because i know he could very well be married to gwyneth and not chris, and things might be different than they are. today one of my friends used the phrase "that's BALLS" and then we laughed about how unusual an exclamation it is around these parts. but something stirred in my head and i said "where have i heard someone use that phrase recently??" it was beginning to bother me because i couldnt think of where i'd heard someone say it. and then i was like "ohhh, i remember!" but was kind of embarrassed about it, and my friends made me tell them where i heard it. in a quiet voice i said "chris martin said it about a song called 'gravity'..." and they laughed at my lameness
  7. i beg to differ... ;) but phil is much more of a hottie than i expected!!
  8. wow, i definitely didnt picture him like that either! even though i know he's the same age as the guys, i just pictured him as older...i dont know. the question now is: does he look like he could possibly have handwriting like this?: :sneaky:
  9. i think chris was in haiti at the time for oxfam. but jonny and guy made some horrid wardrobe decisions for that ceremony...i remember seeing the pics!
  10. huckabee mostly scares me on what he thinks about gun control. i think gun control needs to be much, much stricter than it is, whereas huckabee seems to think that it needs to be more lax. in that respect, he scares the crap out of me. apart from the caucus (because its over now), obama seems to be gathering more speed than anyone expected and it makes me wanna DANCE
  11. jenika, that's exactly what i want as well! i've been doing that for the past eight months now and its lovely. i feel i've been so spoiled by it that it's going to be hard for me to break back into the academic scene because i've recently realized how fed up i am with wasting time with subjects i dont care about. all i really want to do in life is work on my writing while the rest of the world is asleep. i looked like this --> :stunned: when i read that line of yours because i feel exactly the same way!
  12. ooh, alyssa, this is a good idea for a thread! stuff like this always helps me get my thoughts straight, because i never write this introspectively unless i'm given a reason. thanks for giving me a reason :D fair warning: i tend to ramble, so i dont expect anyone to read all of it. if i know myself, it's going to be ridiculously long. in retrospect, i seem to be a combination of parts of annie and parts of alyssa! :laugh1:
  13. ^naw, they lost an XFM demo tape competition on 1/16/98, at least according to the myspace. i find it interesting and very chris-ish that he counts that event as their start as a band. but it would be very nice if they posted a demo song that we've never heard before, like "so sad"... of course thats not going to happen
  14. theory is nuts. music is waaaaaay beyond me. i think thats why i like it so much: because i'm in awe of anyone that can master it in a way that grabs me so much. though film is the next best thing to that for me, and that feels like something i can handle. that's so sad about that trouble song meaning... song meanings are crazy things though: they mean so many different things to different people. i have all these ideas about what i think songs are about that no one else seems to understand or agree with or like. but i think that's another reason why i like music so much: unlike literature or film, it's usually so abstract that you can apply your own meaning and feelings to it and still be right. and i can never look at wilson the same way again, either!
  15. if it plays in new york and philidelphia, then i can go. but i'm not really concerned about me--i just think it would be much more benefical to the fans for them to stream the footage online. i know i'd be terribly upset if i couldnt see the album promotion simply because of my geographical location, and i'm thinking of all the people that love coldplay just as much as i do that dont have the means of going to one of 10 or so cities in the world to watch a film which could EASILY be broadcast online at probably very little expense. but if this promotional film replaces music videos or touring or whatever, than i dont think they should do it at all. if it's an additional, new way of promotion, then sure, but i dont think its really promotion unless you're promoting it to the general public, not just the people that live near most populous cities in the world. unless they want to film it way ahead of time and release it to all movie theaters...but thats not likely :D
  16. :stunned: that's semi-creepy, annie. but also really cool!! this is semi-coldplay related: i just discovered that before gwyneth married chris, she dated robert sean leonard, who plays dr. wilson on house, which is my favorite TV show! that surprised the crap out of me! sorry, just had to share how shocked i was...
  17. me too! actually, before i even knew the song was coldplay, back when it was played every 5 minutes on the radio, i somehow internalized jonny's guitar riff and my head would subconsciously play it whenever i was really happy or had some sort of personal victory. and then when i listened to AROBTTH for the first "real" time in may 2005, i was like "OMG, that's coldplay?!" i felt like i knew that song better than any other in the world!
  18. ^hahah, not like that! this was more like...IMP on speed. literally. but it sounded remarkably cool! like even happier than it does when its played normally. ^^and even though i worked out that they were doing an electric version of trouble the first time i saw the tour diary, for some reason for several times after i would completly forget what song they weredoing when i watched it and would think "omg, i know this is familiar...what is it?!" until chris started singing the words. i really can be thick.
  19. me too. but if they tell us the precise date that the new one was coming out, i'd be able to handle it better. i'm just like that ;)
  20. if we dont get news this month, i'm going to be very VERY sad. i had a "feeling" that we'd get concrete news in december, and look how that turned out . I'm so anxious now that i seem to be almost going round the bend and becoming less frantic and ready to tear out my hair. thats a sure sign its taking too long :P i know theyve got stuff left to do, but really, shouldnt they have at least a ballpark date picked out by now? i would think that they should have a PRECISE date picked out if theyre done with the music aspect of it all! so why cant they just TELL US and end our suffering?! if its going to be nex december i dont really mind, as long as i know like NOW so i can count down to it!
  21. haha, he puts himself down all the time. he seems to alternate between being condemnatory and proudly defensive of his work (like how he told simon pegg to "fuck off" when he makes fun of the scientist video!!)--thats just how he is. i love him for it, but i can imagine it can get tiresome to deal with if you actually know him. personally, i would say terrible video, good song. its kind of a cheesy song, but still a good, worthy one. maybe not as a single, though....
  22. Thanks! i knew it had to be a bunch of kids. if that was an instrument, i would have been really freaked out.
  23. i was under the impression that it was 16 january that they got together officially according to the myspace. well, i suppose theyre different events: either way: YAY DECADE OF COLDPLAY!!!
  24. i think this is a good idea as long as its not just, like, LA and new york and london and just the big cities. i think if they could get enough places to screen it so a large number of people could see it, it would be worth it. i'm not saying every movie theater in the world; i'm just talking like more than 10 cities. i think it should be streamed online as well for the people that live in the middle of nowhere or who can't get to one of the locations. i wouldnt even mind if they charged money for the online viewings.
