i was surprised at how amazing she still looked after it was shaved!! and i loved when it was starting to grow in and it was super short--shes just so beautiful. well, shaved heads would be sooo much easier to manage! i put way too much time and effort into my hair, and it never shows because its such a pain in the ass to deal with in the first place. gah.

blah, i hate being screwed with...but honestly, that "clipping"? who would have possibly believed that? my heart does this jumpy thing every time i see a thread title with potential info in it. and i'm thinking we should be getting real info soon, so i just about have a heart attack of excitement whenever i log on here.

i do too, but i think i'd look ridiculous. especially on days that i dont feel like straigtening it--i'd have a complete afro. but if youre really going to go short, i highly recommend donating to locks of love! i used to have hair down past my butt, and when i decided to get rid of it i cut off almost 20 inches and because i have such thick hair they made three wigs out of it! its just a really nice thing to do, and i think they only need like 7 inches to do it.

i dont know, i think ill be able to meet people that will become my friends, people that i like at least a little, but i'm pretty pessimistic about finding really GREAT friends. the sorts of friends i have for a lifetime and invite to my wedding and value highly. all of my friends that i have now i've known for at least 10 years, and i just think that time has a lot to do with friendship. and i dont know, i just relate a LOT better to adults--i always have. i value their friendship more. it was easy to have lots of adult friends at my old school (it was very very small and the teachers were also our friends), but i think there will be much less opportunity to have these sorts of friends at uni.

i'm actually having a similar dilemma, but i think i'm going to do it. though i dont think i'm planning to go as short as youre thinking. what i would do (and am going to do :P) is get it cut to my chin (which is where i always cut it to), and then perhaps go shorter. ive always wanted to try out really short hair just once and see if i could pull it off, but i'm scared that i'll be stuck that way for quite a while if i cant pull it off because my hair grows really slow. and i hate not being able to pull my hair back! so that may be something to think about. but my hair is just naturally INSANE and curly and frizzy so i straighten it every day, and a really short cut would make that impossible.

i spend HOURS in target! a person could literally live in there because they have everything you possibly could want to survive. i love that place. juicy...i dont know, its just not my style. and i hate overpriced things if only because theyre overpriced. but cruelty-free is always good; i didnt know they did that. my mom works for ann taylor, so i used to wear a lot of that stuff to school because we get a big discount and it was stuff i was allowed to wear to school. talk about overpriced :rolleyes:

no, youre right, thats not that expensive, but usually when CDs first come out theyre cheaper, like $9.99 or something at target or borders, and then they go up to being around $20 after the first week. maybe it was just because it was starbucks or something. theyre not selling it whatsoever at target, which surprised me. i figured if starbucks has it then everybody that sells CDs would...strange.

designer stuff is big around here. most of my friends only will wear clothes if theyre like lacoste or ralph lauren or juicy coture or north face or whatever, with american eagle and abercrombie being the absolute bottom of the range of stuff theyd even consider putting on their bodies. it's disgusting. its just the culture around here--showing off just how much money you have with your clothes and your bags and your cars and your houses. i'm so sick of it i could scream. bags are the big deal: luis vuitton and chanel and all that crap. i have two coach bags (which are considered low-range) which i bought because i liked and they were functional, not because they were coach. i hate all the importance people put on labels! i wear clothes from target and i'm fine with that, but thats just something you DON'T DO. uggh. my school had a really strict dress code, which made it worse because everyone just wore these outrageously expensive polo shirts and pants. i'm so glad i'm going to college where i can wear sweatpants from gap to class and there will be a wider range of cultures so less people will care!

walked into starbucks today and they were playing the album on continuous loop. people were looking at me funny while i was standing in line singing along. theyre selling it in starbucks as well, but for $15.95, which is more than i expected it to be sold for. i'm going to check the price at target, even though i really dont have any reason to buy the album since i've got the download AND the discbox...

^i figure that will be the outcome as well. huckabee scares the crap out of me, but obama is my absolute favorite candidate out there. he has my full support, and i hope he emerges as the democratic frontrunner.

yes, european H&M is soooo much better than in the US!! i wish ours was like that! i'm just pretty imparticular about fashion in general...i know what i like, and i wear it to be comfortable. i dont make a big production out of clothes, as long as i think i look alright and i'm comfortable. i dont care whats "in" or where it comes from.

i really am about to scream after reading this. i feel like running around in circles, i'm that excited. GAHHHHHHH, must...have....RELEASE DATE. i'm glad to read that the words "piano riff" were used at least twice in the article--so even if it's not an album heavy on piano, they haven't completely ditched them, either, which i was kind of worried about. i'm also really glad to read that it's not going to be heavy on "hip-hop beats." i was kind of afraid that given chris's most recent collaborations and tendancies to comment on hip-hop and rap artist's work that the album would be too much over on that side of the musical spectrum rather than coldplay's usual style of "very hard soft rock." and i'm also thrilled to hear that the album draws on their live shows and is centered around performance. i think this means that their next tour will be their best yet (because even though i LOVE seeing them live, lots of people are critical of their stage shows), and i hope they become more of a "live band" in the process of making a kick-ass album. this article above all else (even most of what prospekt has said, strangely enough) has gotten me more excited and even more optimistic about LP4 than i ever have been. unfortunately it's also gotten me MORE ANXIOUS. :wideeyed: why cant they just tell us already?!?!?!

ugh, any sickness involving the stomach is just the worst. or at least i think so. you all have my sympathy, and i hope you get well soon! i nearly died from strep throat in august, but because of that and the fact that i work in a doctors office, i think i have a pretty good immune system right now. i really hope the norovirus doesnt jump over to the US!

ugh, abercrombie and hollister are so...juvenile. i dont really mind the clothes themselves (though i hate how easily you can make them totally slutty and cliche), but i hate the connotation of the label and how preppy and trendy it is. i hate even going into the store because its so freaking LOUD. and its WAAAAY overpriced. american eagle i can stand, at least most of the stuff. but i'm a gap girl.

i loved coldplay first, and it took me quite a while to get into radiohead after several tries. i always respected them, but never really was into most of their stuff. in rainbows is what made me check them out for a third time and what made me understand them for the first time, and now i'm TOTALLY in love (even though i'm a little embarrassed by being such a new convert). theyve moved to my second-favorite band in the span of about two months (well, ok, third if you count the beatles as my number one, which they are, but the truth is i listen to radiohead and coldplay so much more). but coldplay will always be my number one. i can't see radiohead surpassing them unless LP4 really disappoints me.

wow, i was going to start a similar thread in like a week or so!! i start college (what we generally call uni in america) in 2.5 weeks for the first time because i took a gap semester and i'm totally freaked out, not because of the academic differences, but because i've got to break into a pre-defined social scene and have to MEET people for the first time (i went to the same school from the time i was 4 to last june and have had generally the same group of friends since kindergarten). i already know exactly what you mean about old friends, though. even though i havent gone and made new ones yet, i already feel a huge disconnect with my old friends because my life of having a job and doing whatever i wanted is worlds different than their college lives (which seem kind of mundane to me now that i've been living like an adult for 8 months). i hung out with them today, and the difference in us all was tragic. i feel like i cant relate to them anymore. so does anyone have any advice for all of us that need to meet people? i'm open for anything.

^i actually said parachutes :). i agree with everything you said!! i dont think so! the first coldplay concert i went to, like EVERYONE did it and i wish i had thought to do it, but then the second one i went to i decided against drawing it on my hand because i was with my friend who would have thought it was lame. but the next time i go i think i will, even though chris probably will be writing something new on his hand by then.

parachutes is the perfect night-driving album. i always put it in when i'm driving home late at night and sing my brains out. its lovely.

they do exist!! youve just got to search for one. i bought myself a little travel one two christmases ago from pottery barn teen for like $40, and while it's not brilliant-sounding, i always have my parents ones for that. yard sales and second-hand shops are always good. and then there's the internet! i got mine on ebay! there are usually a few knocking around.

^it's a nice way of redeeming myself in the monetary aspect of it all. even though i'll HAVE to download it if it's leaked (no question), i'll still feel bad, because it does ruin the whole excitement and romaticism of the thing, especially on THEIR end. not to mention all the people around the world that will download the hypothetical leak and not give a damn about giving money back (i know they dont really need the money, but that's so not the point). for me it has nothing to do with getting a free album and everything to do with getting the album FASTER.
