Letter from Phil Harvey: Dear Coldplaying...
Is it pathetic I still feel a bit faint whenever I see that video? :wacky: I can't believe everything worked out so perfectly with that whole thing. Oh my goodness. However, like Alison said earlier...I think that something like this shouldn't be for mending fences or anything, and it was more powerful as a surprise, one-off thing relevant to a song, but that's just my opinion.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Aww, thanks Chavi! (Chaco :P) I'm sorry we didn't really get to talk or anything...so many people, so little time! :\ Disappointed to hear the whole doorbell/telling the band thing isn't just a rumor, though :disappointed:

Letter from Phil Harvey: Dear Coldplaying...
When Phil told us "not to catch our deaths" out there that night, I said I was more worried about him in skintight polyester and drafty huge bellbottoms than us in our warm clothes . He said at least he had a trailer to go into. Even though I feel extremely positive about the whole thing, it's not so much the disappointment of others that I wanted to address, it was the way it was handled in various venues, but I'm so done talking about it.

Letter from Phil Harvey: Dear Coldplaying...
HI, CARLA! I said I wasn't going to talk about any negativity drama anymore, but I completely agree with how you think their thought train went: I think they honestly thought that we'd appreciate being in the video more than having a Q&A and had all the best intentions, and we should treat them as such.

Angie, I LOVED that Phil just looked over our heads and saw you and was like "You! I know you! How are you?" You are a legend

Letter from Phil Harvey: Dear Coldplaying...
I love that I only JUST found this . That's what I get for only posting in two different threads the past few days. My question is probably too personal and selfish to be answered, about advice on working in the music industry, but I'm going to send it anyway. God, what amazing, nice people this band and their team are composed of :wacky:.

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
I definitely think it's just a one-off thing for the holidays, not something off LP5. However, given all the buzz surrounding it and the video now, both here and in the press, I think it's going to chart extremely high. And I'd say that the sound of it isn't very new-direction-y at all. To me, it's extremely VIVA-era sounding. It's very, very "them." Not in a bad way, like they're imitating themselves or anything. This is probably because it was written in that era (given the 60 Minutes demo version) rather than after, but then again, I suppose lots of their songs are written while they're still touring and promoting the last album. I hope this doesn't sound smug or cocky, because I don't mean it that way, but I keep forgetting that the song isn't actually released yet :uhoh:. I keep waiting for it to come up on my Christmas playlist which I've been listening to nonstop today, and it's obviously not there yet. And I was just singing it in the kitchen while washing up, and my housemate, who knows my whole story, threatened to call EMI and have me arrested .

Nicole, dear, don't get too excited about what little you can hear in the video...it's not representative of the song at all!

I just looked him up on Twitter, he's Pete! I CAN TELL BY THE EPIC MUSTACHE  He and Will (the younger, dark haired video guy on the boat) talked to us for a while at the shoot too :D

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Matt Whitecross was the director, according to the crew. I suggested that name to Jamie, I think and our minder butted in and said "yeah, that's him, Matt the director." Unless he was mistaken, it's another Coldplay/Matt Whitecross production :D Everyone was so bundled up in warm clothes that it was hard to tell, but I'm 99.9% sure that the director, who is probably Matt, was wearing a big parka and a wool hat and carrying various clipboards and other things throughout the night. However, I could be totally wrong .

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Haha, nice suggestion, but no, Matt was there the whole time directing :P I'm really curious. If the other two are Phil and Simon, I feel like it's not just some random dude.

Yay new video! WHO THE HELL IS THE THIRD ELVIS, THOUGH? He looks so much like Guy to me. I doubt he's his brother or anything, but I feel like I spent all night staring at him too, I just want to know :P

Awww, thanks, Nicole   I haven't read this whole thread, though...did FANS actually go up to THE BAND and tell them they were disappointed? I imagined it was just someone like Debs who checked this thread or received rude emails. Where do people learn such poor manners? :stunned:

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
Haha, OK . I'm one of those fans that eats up every little scrap of info whenever it's available, but I'm glad some people are waiting! :D Still, sorry to those who have asked me to PM the lyrics to them. Also, I didn't write down anything the whole night, so they'd probably be a bit jumbled or a bit wrong anyway. I'll check what I've written down since by memory on Wednesday!

New Coldplay Christmas Song 2010! Christmas Lights // behind-the-scenes footage in first post (parts
Oh the piiiictures . I didn't see any paps the whole time I was there, though. Also, a lot of people have been PMing me about posting the lyrics to Christmas Lights now because I heard it 49685906509657 times over the course of eleven hours with several others. I debated it even despite the somewhat confusing confidentiality agreement I signed, but even if I am allowed to spill those beans (I honestly don't know, because the contract said one thing and then EMI called and said another), because the band and their crew and their management was so kind and gracious to me all night, I'm going to respect their wishes of confidentiality til Wednesday. I'd be a bit annoyed at me if I were everyone else, so I completely understand and am sorry to all those that have asked. And maybe someone else already has posted them, or some of them? I don't have time to go through all the pages of the thread. I promise I'll post them right at 8PM on Wednesday after re-listening and checking my work. But my favorite line is "may all your troubles soon be gone" :wacky: :P.

I'm going to address the whole disappointment issue one last time and then I'm done. Because the whole thing is irking me, I just want to have one last say from my perspective on things and then I'm just going to tune it all out. I talk a lot, so it's under a spoiler. Read or don't read.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Oh OK :P. Nah, it just was worded badly, like I was shitting on you for not figuring out the Marx connection...my excuse is I banged it out at 5AM :P Thanks! When I heard "Singing video," I thought some newspaper had gotten a recording of us singing our part of the song on the boat and uploaded it or something.

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
I thought the same thing :P Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound condescending :embarrassed: I'm confused now: is the video of us singing karaoke or is it of us singing our part of the song?

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
So I don't have to dig through a million pages, could someone link me to the video of us singing and any others that may exist at this point in time? :shy: And thank you, everyone :D. You were all there with me in spirit.

WOO, I'm never going to catch up with this thread :dead:. But here is a more polished version of my fan story. It's really, REALLY long. You're a brave soul if you get to the end. But in case anyone's interested... And...pictures :wacky: This is a RIDICULOUSLY awkward photo, but I don't care  LOL, our faces  HE SHAVED, HE SHAVED! Massive, massive amounts of love for this man :bigcry: I'll post others sooon :D. Hopefully tonight. It's just that I still haven't slept more than 2 hours in two days :uhoh:

OK wait, I think I just remembered something, maybe. The guys with me might have to verify later. I think he asked my name, and I told him, and he said he signed my book. And then I think he said "I'm Chris." This strikes me as very funny. "I'm Chris." Oh darn, I was actually here to see the pope. Easy to mistake you for him.

It IS hilarious. I'm like, comically mortified. I don't really regret a thing besides letting myself get so upset over almost missing him, but it's not like I screamed or cried or anything, I guess, I just let myself get really...sad-looking, like a five year old told that she can't take home the puppy in the window. And I just have a loud voice naturally, which is how he probably heard me from the stage and why he decided to do something about it. But seriously. Chris Martin knows more about my bodily functions than anyone else right now. OK, I'm going to bed for three and a half hours

Sometimes I'm told I sound midatlantic after living in England for 2 years now...and I think being surrounded by English people tonight amplified that a bit...God knows what country the boys thought I was from. I get muddled, at least in vocab, if not in twang. Hahahha, DOCK, that's the word I was looking for. Ugh, I need to sleep :uhoh:

FESTIVE (OFFICIAL) BOAT TRIP IN LONDON @ 5PM ON 25 NOV, 2010
Haha, I thought about it, but no, I didn't :P. I just am not a big toot-my-own-horn sort of person (except some of the lines I wrote in that post may beg to differ :uhoh:), and I was just embarrassed. She said she put my name to my face, though, so I assume that means she remembers me in some way, and I assume that means Postcards? It's 6AM. Fucking hell. I have to check out of my hotel by 10:30. Should I sleep at all?
