  1. I'm staying well away from alcohol . I don't drink much at all on a regular basis, but I feel like I'm going to be jazzed enough on just excitement, so I don't want to have any reason to talk faster and louder and more than I already do :uhoh:. But I think I will have to partake in other refreshments...it strikes me as very funny that on Thanksgiving, I will be eating food Coldplay payed for . I am a loon.

  3. BRING IT! Seriously, if there was ever reason to own a camera, things like this are it. I'll be bringing two, because I'm a cool kid. Whatever the surprise is, you KNOW it's going to be photo-worthy (or video-worthy...). They really seem to stress viable footwear...I hope the surprise isn't departing for the boat and taking a walking tour of London at night with the Coldplay crew or something . I wasn't planning on wearing heels in the first place (ugh, I never do), but I'm hoping ballet flats will suffice, because it's either that with my semi-nice clothes or bright red Converse Chuck Taylors
  4.   I still can't get over how nice that boat looks. I mean, I didn't expect a rowboat or anything, but maybe it's just the size of it that's blowing my mind...my mom started musing out loud about what surprises such a boat could entail and I just had to scream at her to stop, because once my imagination gets going I'll never be able to catch it.
  5. Thanks, Jamie! I just called my home-away-from-home in London, my usual hotel, and they ACTUALLY had a room (and I get a discount there as a frequent stayer) so allll is well. Now just train tickets left, which I'll do tomorrow! OK, I don't know why I'm like liveblogging my bookings, so sorry for spamming, but I'm just so exciiiiiited
  6. I'm usually a pretty calm person except when it comes to things like Coldplay. But even for this, I was so surprised I was like beyond excitement, to the point where being all squee-y felt inadequate. But now I'm all jittery since we have the date  Ugh, now to get turned down by every hotel I call for a room at such short notice.
  7. Screw what I was saying earlier about me being unusually calm and relaxed. I think this all just hit me :stunned:. :freak:
  8. My mom thinks it's such a big boat so there's space...to set up...equipment :lipsrsealed2:
  9. NEVERMIND! I typed all that out before I refreshed the page, if anyone saw my long post! YAY THURSDAY! ON THANKSGIVING!
  10. To me it smells of an LP5 release before June, maybe :cheesy: And I'd bet money they're doing Glasto.
  11. Yeah, I haven't read anything that makes me think that anyone will be let down or think it wasn't worth it if the guys themselves aren't there :) Oof, I started investigating prices of budget hotels in case my usual hotel is full once I call (after we know the date...come on, CPHQ! :P), and EESH, they're so much more expensive in London! Unsurprising, but I was hoping they would be more affordable. If where I usually stay in Bloomsbury is full, looks like I'll be trying to get a bed in Palmer's Lodge with a lot of you.
  12. So this is what I have for weather right now as an update...sorry it's in Fahrenheit for all you non-American types :P. Like Jen, this is kind of more than just a concert or everyday thing to me, so I'm going to dress a cut above what I would normally wear, but that's just me :D. Warmness isn't really a high priority to me as we're almost definitely going to be inside most of the time and I deal pretty well with cold anyway, but I'll still have hat and scarf and gloves in my bag :nice:.
  13. Not to keep banging the "I think the band may be there" drum, but I doubt they'd bring along Kelly for them hopping on a boat in their home city to attend a private party of 100 people :P. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they'd feel the need to protect themselves against us loons, but I feel like they would only use security when doing big, publicized things or travelling. Interesting, though :D
  14. I have tried to explain this movie to so many English friends before and they act like I'm talking about aliens colonizing Japan. It's a film about Christmas :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Christmas_Story
  15. Oh my gosh, the banner   And all the ads have been about cruises for days now :P
  16. I thought it was fairly universal, really, but it's an American movie about Christmas that's become a huge cult classic. It's ridiculously quotable. And yes, they do literally play it on loop for 24 hours on Christmas Day, and have done for years. That picture is from the part where the little brother gets wrapped up in snow gear to go play outside and he bursts into tears because he can't put his arms down. Awww, nooo . I'm sorry, Katie...it looked so good for a while! But it seems you're taking it pretty well, or at least better than I would.
  17. Same on all accounts, even if I'll probably have to miss my Friday lectures no matter what night it's on. I'd really like to avoid paying for two nights in a hotel if I can help it, but if we don't know by Tuesday night I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and do it. I was worried about dress-code as well. I'm going for dressy-casual...I plan to pick up a nice, glittery top to wear under a blazer, but I'm wearing jeans and ballet flats. As for the warmness factor, it's going to be cold, but there's going to be an inside portion of the boat, I guarantee it, so I don't think we're going to need to stay in heavy coats and hats the whole time. It's all just layers of warm clothes! I've yet to meet a Brit whose ever even heard of A Christmas Story...
  18. I actually got really excited when I checked my weather widget and saw a snow icon for London on Thursday (and Friday!). I'm just obsessed with snow and I feel a bit deprived of it in England, so I take it when I can get it...even if it means the boat might be a tad more uncomfortable. Pretty snow flurries would make everything so beautiful :wacky:.
  19. Like Pete says, I don't think we need to worry too much about "no one knows what I look like to vouch for me" etc etc...we're all nice people, we're not going to disown someone from our group just because we don't recognise them by face! Since this whole event is pretty spontaneous and not on the media's radar, I don't think we'll have to worry about impersonators anyway. In terms of actually getting on the boat, I figure they need to make sure we're the right people somehow, maybe by using ID, but because this is more the vibe of a party than some sort of public event like a concert where money is involved, I don't think they're just going to chuck you off if your ID or whatever doesn't meet specific criteria. Usually I'm the one freaking out about all the little details! :P But for me, this whole thing is so generous and so unexpected that I'm just really relaxed about the whole thing...I'd be a lot more stressed if I had to make international travel arrangements and all that, but in the end, I think everyone's going to be pretty accommodating and make sure everyone else is alright. We're Coldplayers! :D
  20. Anna and Ian, you guys are doing such a great job :wacky:. Jamie, that's a crazy story! I still have my fingers crossed for knowing the final date by Monday or Tuesday, but if we haven't heard, I guess I'm just going to have to sign off two days of uni and book my train and hotel on Wednesday. OH WELL :P
  21. :cheesy: Debs is going?! I really, REALLY want to meet her. She does exactly the sort of job I want to do for a band someday. Or one of them, anyway. Ohmygoodness, this whole thing just gets better and better.
  22. *holds breath for Katie* $937 is an epically good nonstop price for this time of year. I pay in the same general ballpark for all my trips to and from England every year, even at off-peak travel times. Maybe use that argument on your mom?
  23. So is this still happening? There's been next to nothing posted about it recently, and I'm wondering if the whole thing was just a rumor or what. Coldplay's not listed as a performer on the little description that pops up when I click on the AMAs on my online TV listings thing. You'd think they'd promote them. I live in England, but I've set my parents' DVR in America to record it. However, I can't upload it for anyone...even if I was in America I wouldn't know how :P.
  24. My dad joked that they might just sink the boat to get rid of their 100 most crazy fans :P He also suggested I bring business cards to give to Matt and Miller and Phil. I laughed SO HARD. I'm not trying to get a job, I'm trying to get advice on the industry! I thought the same thing . Unfortunately both me and Jamie will be there and we had very large hands in determining the location awhile ago, among others, so no one give us away :uhoh:  NOOOOO :bigcry: Also, Zemy101 will definitely be my guest :wacky:
