  1. "Talk" was completely built around the lead melody from "Computer Love".
  2. They've noted it themselves. They may not directly sample to the point of crediting an artist, but they have definitely been HEAVILY influenced by other songs since day one. Again, they've said it themselves, that they are always taking bits and pieces from other places and making it into their own. It's not plagiarism, it's what true geniuses do -- act like a sponge of sorts and make their final product a combination of their own creativity and all things around them. That's a definition of genius that I have held long before I ever listened to a Coldplay record. And relax! I think we're on the same side, here. Pro-Coldplay, that is.
  3. "Life In Technicolor" had a sample "Talk" also made use of a sample. Come on guys...how can you be upset about this? For years Coldplay has been taking conventional (or previously used) melodies and turning them into much better songs. Lack of creativity? Okay, make a better song off a sample -- I dare you!
  4. If I went to a show and the band played 7 awful, or even mediocre, songs from a new record that I had not yet heard -- then it was not a good gig!
  5. So awesome. Another big shout out to everyone who was on the boat. I had a great time.
  6. 1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs 3. Circa Survive - Blue Sky Noise 4. Kings of Leon - Come Around Sundown 5. Minus The Bear - OMNI 6. Bad Books - Bad Books 7. Big Boi - Sir Luscious Left Foot 8. My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous KillJoys 9. Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz 10. Norma Jean - Meridonial
  7. There's a really quick clip of what looks like Guy and Will waving to us on the boat, and I can't help but notice how super pumped Guy looks. Makes me happy because I could hardly see them when they waved.
  8. They filmed 2, maybe 3 usable takes, so the one from that picture may not used.
  9. Haha, 3.50 bottled beers  I should have had a few more at the pub! and wow, I really really regret not going over to the set.
  10. Poop, I should have gone to the rest of the shoot! Oh well, awesome night. Again, great meeting some of you! G'night!
  11. Really? What could they have possibly told us that they wouldn't release to the public? Everything they would have said would just end up on this forum anyway. You forgot the sandwiches! I ate probably 10+. :D Again, did people really spend the money for a Q+A with Phil, or because they assumed the band would be there...we need to be honest here. What an unfair description. How about, if Coldplay HQ had explicitly invited us to a VIDEO SHOOT for the band, a chance to be involved in COLDPLAY HISTORY, and that we would get the same refreshments than any group of extras in a VIDEO SHOOT would get, then I'm sure many people would have gone. Again, there were totally people there that followed their assumption that the band would make an appearance. What? He said "I know you were expecting a gig, but this is better, you are now immortalized in a Coldplay video for all of time"...and he was absolutely right. I'm sorry, but I had to...
  12. The boys have met hundreds, if not almost thousands of fans. How many can say that they were in a video? I'm not going to sit here and try convince anyone to change their opinion on the evening, but shit, we were in a coldplay video.
  13. I had a great time tonight. It was great meeting some of you and, of course, I got to be in a video. That being said, I really do feel for anyone that was disappointed by the event. I'm definitely biased because I traveled all of 25 minutes today, and those of you that had long journeys absolutely have my sympathy. Still, we were never promised an appearance from the band, and I would much rather be in a Coldplay video than have a q+a that could have been conducted over the web. Perhaps once we see the final video people will appreciate what we were a part of. Again, this is not an attack on those that may have been left disappointed...
  14. Even if it wasn't the video and just the band making an appearance, a group of live tweets could get anyone's attention -- non-coldplaying.com fans (the do exist), or even paparazzi. To be honest, I wouldn't even mention anything in the pub.
  15. If it's going to be as cold as they say, then I will have no choice but to booze up a tad before my commute.
  16. This pub is going to love Coldplaying after all of the business they get tomorrow.
  17. I don't think you have my full name, but I'm Nancy's partner and we've exchanged numbers so I guess her endorsement will be enough.
  18. Wait, did we decide if we needed to print something?
  19. I would go to tfl.gov.uk and use the journey planner to find a bus route if for some reason we miss the tubes.
