The band gave St David’s School in Moreton £3,072 so it could buy a new piano. The school lost all of its musical equipment in the summer floods of 2007. Speaking exclusively to Q, Chris told how the band were in awe of Kylie when she joined them in the studio as a guest vocalist. But after a change of plan, the band decided not to use her contribution to the band's fourth album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. In an interview for the July edition of Q (which is out on June 1), Chris said he decided to rethink his approach to the song on which the two Parlophone acts teamed up. “Kylie is awesome,” said Chris. “She’s like Girls Aloud rolled into one. And then I took the song apart. Like a Corby trouser press. When I read the title I thought the error was the title of the album itself - 'cause they first had Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends - and then they changed it to Viva La Vida only.

Last week, Apple began taking pre-orders for Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," and in so doing, offered buyers immediate access to the title track. As noted here, the single downloaded with DRM at 128 kilobits per second. The post generated a call from an Apple spokesperson, who reported that the Coldplay track was to have downloaded at higher bit rate, the DRM-free and better-quality 256 kilobits per second that graces all music from EMI labels. But a quick iTunes check confirmed that the slightly lower-quality version did indeed download. This week, Apple will rectify the error, according to a company spokesperson. Those who received the 128-bit edition of Coldplay's "La Vida" should receive an e-mail from Apple sometime within the next 48 hours, explaining the error and offering a download of the 256-bit version.
