Coldplay =/= U2
I'm gathering the answer is John Lennon, but then I thought he was shot prior to 1980?? And Harrison passed away more recently, the rest are with us in the living. Their manager, Billy Shears? I'm not exceptionally versed in these details.. Well, I mean, who hasn't been influenced by The Beatles?? Granted, they borrowed heavily from a lot of great R&B artists, but since them, most groups have drawn inspiration. Martin suggests some influences from Neil Young, and Aha, and Echo and the Bunnymen, but there seems to be quite a bit of influence from Dorris Day there as well, and Paul Revere and the Raiders...:laugh3: (well, that's what I hear in their music - someone else probably hears other influences..)

Welcom to the Lounge/Get to Know Briggins
Finishing the neighbors properly.. Now Tracie, the ancient Incas used to do a dance on the potatoes first before cooking, to soften them up & get the alkaloids out.. (a pre-soak). Maybe that's all you need to do to your neighbors, prior to boiling them?? (they taste better with the skins on, and a little butter and chives on top..):P Oh, and don't forget, the best is to boil them in a big kettle over a wood fire..:laugh3:

American Coldplayers On\ly!
Well, so much for this being an "American Coldplayers Only" post!:laugh3: Besides, they say the best is always saved for last, and maybe in some peculiar way, knowing it has been leaked or released elsewhere will make it even better, since once you hear reviews, it heightens the expectations.. (and Pooh bear thought and thought, what was the best thing in the whole world? Pooh was about to say "honey", but then it dawned on him that the very best thing was the moment just before you tasted the honey. That was the very best.):wacky:

Coldplay =/= U2
Well here we all are, sitting on this little blue marble in space, discussing who's who among us; we, the sophisticated apes..:laugh3:. I'm just amazed it all hangs together as well as it does - does anyone else ever think this?? Even our little corner of the marble is remarkable - almost as though humanity functions as one gigantic neural network at times.., all that, in a world full of life going in all sorts of directions.. Hmm.. I know Chris spent some time with Paul Hewson, but did Paul spend time with George, Paul, or Ringo?? I'm wondering if the connection is more real than just some strands connected through the ether of space and time..:rolleyes:

Thanks Ian! Looks just like much of the American West - lots of barren talus as far as the eye can see.. Why don't they just bring some lichens, and see if they take there?:P

Coldplay =/= U2
* Truth be told, I know Chris Martin was spending quite a bit of time with Bono, trying to gain inspiration years back - and Martin does occasionally gloat about the music their band has "borrowed" from other groups (I think he uses the term *stole*:laugh3:)- but then they all do that - The Beatles, Dylan, Rolling Stones - their music all has roots somewhere.. In all fairness, Bono has done tremendous good for Africans, with the disease epidemics they face on the continent, and raising awareness, and trying to get debt relief for Southern Hemisphere nations - Yes, the business with the tax tricks in Ireland is dodgey, but to say he's all about the money just isn't true. Besides, Larry's the manager on the band as far as I know. I'm not saying their perfect angels, but they do care a helluvalot to even bother with issues like AIDS, even going so far as to directly speak with Jessie Helms to free up more money here in the US for helping with the AIDS crisis in Africa. Yes, making trade fair - and economic fair play, are as critical as anything in helping bring about global equity. Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland, Will Champion, and Guy Berryman have brought the issue center stage, and I'm grateful for their tremendous efforts equally as well. It's a package deal, and both are essential to healing the hurt and redressing the grievances.

What are you thinking right now?
Before all that, hmm.. I was thinking ...something! Let there be better ways; use the combined force of knowledge and work to build better things, so there's less aggravation for everyone down the line.. Slow the world down - it's spinning too fast! Do it right, do it right, do it right. Put the horse before the cart... Reflect, plan, act. Treat equipment like furniture. It's worth it, and it's nicer to use well-kept tools. Look at what the past tells us, and build a brighter future.:sunny:
