Swiss Cheese! Switzerland is touted as being this paradise place, where everyone's well off, well fed, and happy.. But thanks for telling me this Sally! - I had often wondered if it were true; as one might expect, there are some serious disparities between reality and what we see on TV. So, are you suggesting that you're not wealthy?? Comeon now - I know you Brit's got the sterling tucked away somewhere!!;):P Taxes are high here too - but then, the Swiss have great services for all the taxes, Y/N? All we get are bloated defense budgets, pork, and a dribble for essential services here in the US. The Swiss are not into invading other nations, so where's the money going for all the high taxes there? But still, great chocolate, trains that run on time, fine watches, and all that nice cheese!! Sounds like paradise to me:). Chavi, don't the celebs go to the French Riviera? Monaco? I are confuzzed. I suppose, anything that's a bargain, close by, and ritzy enough.. Do the celebs spend time milking the swiss cows as well??:laugh3: (for some reason, a ditzy blond names Paris Hilton comes to mind..) & Bart's liquor rack must be extensive! (That, or he owns a distillery??;))

^^Thanks Tracie! It wouldn't be so bad if only the buildings were in better shape, and the machinery were less than 100 years old..(and in working condition!).. I feel bad scrapping the old grain bundler and thresher, but there's enough of them alive and well at the threshing bees anyways.. How's the quiet at your place on the Potomac?

Apprehension before tension - definitely not what anyone needs, that's for sure! Remain Calm & focus - all will be well. Tomorrow, even though that's today at this point - will be nice to see dear ol' ma, and bring some watercress!:) Wow, the season is fast approaching - I need to get the garden tilled, start some tomatoes, etc.. And deal with those norway spruces... Then there's the scrap metals and the firewood..

Tell me something about you that I don't know
I listened to Pink Floyd when I was young, and yes I did become possessed. (And you too, Tracie???:laugh3:) It was fantastic, and I'd do again in a heartbeat!:P (actually, AC/DC was more the favorite back then..) Thunderstruck! Bea, you were afraid of ET?? I guess in the beginning of the film he was portrayed as a mystery.. Anyhow, for me it was a movie about a killer whale that gave me nightmares.. (Orca.) But on the bright side, I have a nostalgia bug, and I guess it's inherited, so all these old things - I've gotta keep some of them!

American Govt needs to stop
Mend the hub Life's a wagon, but sometimes a wheel falls off. It just needs the right fix, and some tending to, as I see it. Civilization is a little like making anything - once you think you've got it, you stick with the design with little modification. When the design shows some serious flaws, or a better way is figured out, then it's time for change. It's all a gamble - both the change, and doing nothing - but if we're smart, we'll hedge our bets based on past experiences, and come up with a better way.. I'm optimistic on the long-haul (All Gubenors of Kalifonia aside:P) - OOPS! I had better not pick on Arnold too much - he is, after all, a graduate of University of Wisc. -Superior, if you could believe it! How is the Austrian Czar doing over there in California?? (funny how Bart uses this quote, and there he is - your governor! It's a long, strange trip indeed. :>)

American Govt needs to stop
Hey, chip implants aren't just for chickens anymore!:laugh3: (even Californians need chips!:P) Yes, this nation is screwed up. The excesses of arrogance, the philosophy (if could be called that) "markets need no regulation and solve everything", 50% Federal spending on "defense"offense, and the thinking that we can force our ideas onto other nations - it happens every couple of decades, when the US has had success through leading by example in the past, and then a certain excess hubris, with the accompanying mono-culture of thought leads to ..well, Vietnam, Iraq, suppression of freedoms, attempt to subjegate the citizenry, and herd everyone into the cult of the "perfect way". Anotherwords, a total inversion of our core values, and in all truth, a rebellion is in order! The only thing missing this go-around is a general youth rebellion - (in part, I think, because of the lack of a draft.) But that will all change, as the economic recession deepens, and everyone gets motivated to make some change! Rather than eliminate the government, what it needs is repair to make it responsive to the will of We, the People again, as we are both the government and the governed. And a big part of the problem, as I see it, stems from the incestuous relationship between large powerful corporations and election campaigns. Creating checks and balances on the process, with citizen oversight, seems crucial to saving our Democratic institutions! Otherwise, it's rook deals for the working class when they go to get a loan for a home, or need health coverage. It's wars which benefit defense contractors, and provide cover for pork to the oil and coal industries. It's foreign policy that ignores the will of the people in other nations, and focuses on whatever profits some multi-national corporations - regardless of the long-term consequences. And it's "leadership" of the most salable, with only crumbs to the general public. Not since the days of the robber Barons of the late 1800's has it been this bad, and reform is in sore need here, that's for sure! Well, pardon my rant - it's cathartic to be expressive about ones' feelings, but I have a tendency to be long-winded.;):lipsrsealed2::speechless: I'll keep quite for a while..
