  6. Carpenter's Son to the Present. I digg Jesus's philosophy, but the whole "it's my way or none other" business is pretty closed-minded. I think rather we were given brains and the organization skills to investigate further and seek greater truths; to become more aware of the universe in which we live, and let each new discovery become an inspiration to uncover more of the gems of higher truths. Heaven and Earth are not two separate places, but one in my mind. His devotion to justice, compassion for those in need, and inquiry into the truer nature of ourselves and of the world around us - to free ourselves from our mind's own bondage sometimes - makes a great deal of sense. And we should all be thankful for the enlightened minds that brought us this far, and for all who toiled to make our modern world possible, and light the way towards a brighter future. My own belief is to make our world like heaven on earth, and balance the common good with our personal needs and desires. Enlightenment can take many forms, and we all are facets of a beautiful gem - collectively shining more brilliantly than any one, but each an essential part of the whole. "We are one, but we are not the same. We've got to carry each other, carry each other; in One Love, One Life.."; from U2's One.

  24. One could just as well point to the alliance between certain Christian Fundamentalists, Jewish Fundamentalists, and their push to "settle" the holy lands. If you build a wall, and call everyone on the other side "Bad" and cattle categorically, you've just done basically what the NAZIS did during WWII, sans the concentration camps. It's discrimination, and leads to further rifts in unity, and a loss of basic human rights at the hands of one group. The suicide bombers, and the religious madrassas are just as bad in what they do - but nobody can claim the high moral ground to put an end to it, when one side creates the conditions that loose the hearts, minds, and respect of the moderates on the other side. Extremists find willing converts when injustices abound - this cannot be denied. Look deeper, and see the root causes to human nature.
  25. Wrong is wrong, whether it is committed by George Orwellian Bush, or by Muslim Fanatics. What drives people to the extremes, and what makes them want to do these things - that's the lock we need to open to solve these problems. I care not for anyone who uses false rhetoric and the control of others to commit such awful acts, be they by our ill-advised "leaders" or by religious fanatics, or by lunatics of any stripe.
