Rick Wakeman of YES and Wonderous Stories..
Pieces of the puzzle Well, I did some searching, and found something on http://www.scaruffi.com/music.html. The History of YES did mention, "Wakeman returned to YES for Going for the one (1977) that contains Turn of the Century, Wonderous Stories, and the 15-minute Awaken. So far so good. Maybe Rolling Stone Magazine's archive has more? Interviews done back in the late 70's? Any Suggestions??? -Chuck

Holiday in Spain Sheet
Wish I had the answer! If you can tell me where Rick Wakeman of YES got his inspiration for Wonderous Stories, I'll do my best to search like a madman for the Counting Crows' Holiday in Spain! Looks like music history is not a stong suit for anyone here!!:) I was wondering also, some years ago Michelob Beer had a tune for a TV ad that sounded remarkably like The Speed of Sound. Just Coincidence? :D -Chuck

Do you have a knack for learning languages?
Wow, Im impressed! I think even trying to tackle a foreign language is an accomplishment! I did try to learn Latin once, but it was tough (especially when everyone else in the class has had three years of Latin already!) I often think some people's minds are better at learning foreign languages because of the way they're wired. Maybe they just have a way of getting their minds into that language's frame of mind? Plus, the sublties are tough, and if you loose confidence while trying to tackle another language, it can be pretty unnerving! I had a horrible time with Latin! Too much, too fast!! If everyone would just learn Spanglish, the new international standard...:laugh3:;) -CK

Castro hands power to brother during surgery
Castro, like all leaders, is a mixed blessing, I think. On the one hand, he made sure everyone gets good medical care and had/has access to a quality education, but on the other, he severly mistreats anyone with opinions other than his, and obviously has no notion of the concept of term limits! Economically I think neither extreme is healthy for a country, though our (US) embargo hasn't helped either. And anyone who rules for that many years is bound to create an atmosphere of corruption that is unhealthy. So, I would say a change of leadership in Cuba is long overdue!! -Chuck Viva la Cuba!

Castro hands power to brother during surgery
- tirada Carlos

Castro hands power to brother during surgery
Well, the history is complex! It has to do with large sugar corporations - US Sugar in particular, not getting their way in Cuba after the revolution. That, and Castro turned to Communism on the advice of his brother Raul, after apealling to the US for aid in his fight for Cuban liberation from the regieme in power. After the missle crisis in the 50's, which almost ended in a catastrophic nuclear war, the US - Cuban relationship has been poor politically ever since. I do agree Cuba needed reforms at the time, but Communism was not the answer! Besides that, having one leader for eons isn't a healthy thing, no matter the country. Wish we hadn't hurt the little folks with sanctions all these years, though... If anything, opening trade would have encouraged change, I think. Apparently, the rest of the world thinks so too! That's my understanding in a nutshell! -Chuck
