  2. ETIAW is quite beautiful, a bright piece worth it's weight in myrrh, with a splendidly elegant ending. :drummer:

The nose knows no known notes, and lord knows which nose has no cure. Sub-micron filter, depending on the pollen size. Do you have allergy experts in Istanbul? It's a bit of a process, but they test you for sensitivity to a variety of known allergens, give you a series of shots, and often patients are cured or at least have the right means to deal with the allergy issues. (I need to do much the same soon myself, with ragweed season approaching in a few months)..

It's a universal constant I think among science and engineering minded types. Matters not whether you're screening gravel, students, RF signals, video signals, semaphore signals, pulsar signals.. :laugh3: Bandwith is important, and Coldplay has excellent bandwith! If not for wave generation and shaping, information transmission and processing, and noise filtering, we'd all be listening to just the crickets outside, minus Buddy Holly! ;)

Well they say it's a long and bumpy road to success!:laugh3: Apparently RF signals got crossed in my brain (synapses, the original ether) - someone I know from here goes by the nickname Turk, and so I just assumed! Just how selective is this school? Which mesh to you use to screen out the right grade of student? Do you put them through signal processing and image enhancement at the end? ;)
  6. Designer microwaves - that sounds like something for a science fiction film! Keep the waves cool. RF engineering - definitely a challenge I would imagine! Nothing so exciting for this little green frog - just busywork. One can pack a lot into the subject of RF design - and boggle the imagination with enough problems to significantly slow down Deep Thought. I am forever infinitely amazed to see all this signal processing actually work.. one wonders how anyone manages to make sense of it all!
  7. Welcome thinkofme321luv from why should you know?:laugh3: This site is confusing at first, I agree - but it gets easier the more used to it you get. Nice to have you onboard. :)

Well the Turk I know drives a gravel truck!:laugh3: Which Turk are you?

Well, there's the answer. Move somewhere that there's no cottonwood trees! I would suggest Tierra Del Fuego, or Madagascar. You could try New Caledonia as well - dogwoods, no cottonwoods..

Welcome Turk! :P Now get back to driving that gravel truck! :P

:laugh3: But the hippies sometimes are right, depending on how severe the allergy is.. You could go see an allergist about it, and there are things that do help.. It's basically a reaction we have - the body is thinking it's trying to deal with a cold virus or some infection, but gets confused thinking pollen is the 'bug'. If you just want to make it through the worst of it and not see an allergist, then: (1) wear a micron particle filter when outside, or (2) live in a bubble! :laugh3: (Actually, getting a really good air filter system for the house helps people with sever allergy problems.) or (3) move to one of the driest desert on earth.

Welcome fellow allergy sufferer!:laugh3: How are you doing, Turk?
  13. Halo Tracie! Doing fine, enjoying sweet summertime, gardening, and some new tunes! :sunny: How are things up your way?

Welcome back, Justin! Which time machine did you use to get here, btw?
  15. Well think of how it affects each and every one of us. If you do the least harm, you put yourself into a more compassionate state of mind, and that sends out good vibrations as you interact with your fellow humankind. Given no other options for dealing with a spider one may have to kill it, but if you can be compassionate to it, you change your :sunny:Wavelength, and increase your Karma.:flutterby:
  16. Be kind to Spiders! Haven't any of you read Charlotte's Web? :mudkip: Spiders are just nature's way of keeping flies in check, they have an important role to play - imagine all the annoying flies you'd otherwise have in the room, or mosquitoes! So I would recommend the live capture of this precious animal, and return it to the wild outdoors, where it can be in the niche where it belongs, if the little creature gives you the hebejebes.
  17. Well, when Bob Dylan moved on to Rock and Roll, the Folkies threw fits, but eventually everyone got to liking the music. And when U2 experimented with Lemon, some fans kinda gave them some slack, but some gave them grief - after all, trying new things is risky! Stepping out of one's usual patterns isn't a given. But to me, try it, taste it a few times, see what you like. It doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea, just something to sample, and tastes vary. I agree though, all the negative threads is a bit much for a fans' website. So the new music is moving into new territory - I love the variety! It sure beats the same old flavor all the time, now one can choose from a whole assortment!:chef:

No pulling any punches here, just give us grist for the mill. All right you chow hounds, what's the word on the street?:P
  19. Congratulations Greg & Emma :sunny::sunny: Is this award like the flavor-of-the month at those ice-cream places in the malls? :laugh3: Anywhohow, enjoy the honor, live it up while it lasts!:)

  21. I've always felt that because Jerusalem and the surrounding area is very important to three major religions, it would be wiser to declare it a state called "the Holy Land", and set up a power sharing democratic government for all the inhabitants, with strong guarantees for religious freedom, respect for human rights regardless of culture or religious affiliation, and economic opportunity for all. Maybe in time this will happen - it seems like a better alternative than the continuous struggle for control. At present this ideal has yet to be realized, so for the land issues, I think what can be returned back to the 1967 borders agreed upon by the U.N. should be, and for what cannot be returned, then those families should be fairly compensated for the loss of their land and homes. Land swaps, mutually agreed upon, would work well to correct the mistakes of the past. The route to real security is through mutual respect, fair dealings, and economic justice. If the Palestinians are treated respectfully and have fair economic opportunity, there will come eventual peace. What we see in others is a reflection of our own actions; let us not be rivals, but rather be brothers and sisters to one another.
  22. 149 million kilometers - that's a safe distance for a fusion reactor - and it works great! :sunny: Yes, there are potential risks in the US as well, given the age and design of the reactors, and siting. > I just think it's quite simply a matter of improved efficiency; we've long since realized that living comfortably and guilt-free is the way to encourage citizens to change their energy use patterns. > For example, after properly insulating one home and outfitting it with new windows and doors, it's yearly heating fuel consumption dropped to 1/5 of it's original. Given the increased natural lighting now available in the home, the uses of compact fluorescent bulbs, and the corresponding decrease in demand for electricity to power the furnace or air conditioner, the electric bill has dropped by a dramatic amount as well. What remains? Replacing the refrigerator & T.V. with super-efficient models. All the rest are occasional use items (washer, dishwasher, dryer, toaster, etc.). It's really pretty simple to do these things, and the food stays just as fresh, the home is actually much more comfy (less drafty in winter, less stuffy in summer).. The German government could really ramp up investment & incentives in efficiency improvements and solve the immediate matter of reduced production.
