  1. WelcomeTheScientist495 ! Enjoy the Party, glad you could join in here! :)
  2. :laugh3: I see that is true too- it is a good thing to see them start production of electrics. Maybe then the future will be of many options - some lining up errands in a row = less vehicle use that way, some opting to bicycle most good weather days, autos on the iffy days, some taking electric commuter rail and electric buses, some true hybrids (mostly electric, engine backup), better auto efficiency overall, and more use of two feet (walking!). I just think we are behind and need to make changes rather quickly, or deal with some very difficult climate issues in the near future, where we already face difficult ones. If we get back to honest government and respecting the results of the scientific research, as well as incorporate the externalities that are starkly visible, then the economic forces can propel us in the right direction! *Need to get that bike back in shape - to be the change I wish to see. :cyclist::sunny:*
  3. Great news, I agree, but I suppose 4,000 vehicle sales for citroen isn't much.. :laugh3: Maybe the answer is: drive the old autos with the gas chugger engines maybe once a week, the rest of the time bicycle? Sure would help out the American public - less heart attacks if everyone exercised like that! Probably not gonna happen either, although, driving here is in sharp decline (relatively speaking, that is). I like the idea of the pedal car option, where a little of the power comes from pedaling, plus the exercise is great and it's pretty safe compared to being defenseless on a bike. The Swiss have a vehicle like this offered..
  4. Citroen is going electric, with lithium batteries! :bulb::sunny: Citroen expects 4,000 electric vehicle sales in 2011 — Autoblog Green So there you go - get one of those, and you can skip the congestion charge in London!
  5. Jesus was a communist. :P
  6. :stunned: >I'm doomed, is that what you're saying?:laugh3: Back to Frank Sinatra and Glen Miller, I guess.. and that Elvis fellow..:elvis: There is as much to be discovered in the past as there is to be created in the future. Check out some of the interesting works from eons ago - I'm still discovering things I've never even heard from past times! Some they rarely ever play simply because the music has long pauses, or is just too plain long for radio play, normally. Or with really long intros. This one is particularly good from Elton John, way back in 73': [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GYI6XJH9Ss]YouTube - Elton John - Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding[/ame] If you like the dramatic sound in music..
  7. Hmm... I wonder, what a lot of questions looks like! :laugh3: Alright, I'll try to answer... I suppose one should ask a dog this question - I dunno!! Woof! :escaping2:
  8. It takes real grit to change the world - just a grain of advice. :P
  9. Rediscovering music from the 80's! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McsWKczU6wc&NR=1]YouTube - land of down under.. men at work.. with lyrics[/ame] & this hilarious video - I hadn't even seen this one!!
  10. In the U.S., Public Education is great because it is free from the dumbing down and misinformation campaigns of so-called "conservative" religious nuts. It deserves better funding; our future depends on rational thinking citizens.
  11. Back to Basics: Engines, Efficiency, and where the Future may be: An article on the Scuderi design: Scuderi Engine Builds Digital Car That Gets 50 MPG - Driver's Seat - WSJ And EcoMotors design - similar lines of logic:EcoMotors And Achates Power - several options: Achates Power :: Fundamentally Better Engines There are those who say all-electric is the future - they could be right, but given the power density of liquid fuels, the use of biofuels holds a lot of promise as well. check it out, if you like!
  12. Tourists that can help in the Spanish Revolution! ;):sombrero: meh, volcanoes erupt, might as well adapt! Perhaps this is a good thing in the long haul - gets industry to retool and redesign those jet engines to handle dusts, either make tougher turbine blades, or find some way of filtering out the dust with centrifugal separation techniques or electrostatic filters; I know the air velocity is tremendous, but who know - there might be an answer!
  13. What is in the heads of those sitting on power and holding back the hands of time? How do we set up systems to prevent the concentration of power, and prevent the devious methods used to maintain it against the will of the citizens?

  15. Hey, that could be useful! How many times have you been riding with someone, and you wished you could apply the brakes! That's an innovation it seems to me!:laugh3: Consider if you will the three-wheeler: (JPEG Image, 194x259 pixels) Perhaps as common as 4-wheelers in the late 1800's, now may be the way of the future!
  16. I think I understand; somewhat the matter of mill hands with lots of time on their hands.. There is always a mix it seems when masses of people gather anywhere; how it unfolds is another matter. Are there good organizers with real progress in mind amongst the crowd? I hope things work out in the end for the best, whichever path that takes. Maybe the upcoming sporting event will help focus attention on the problems in Spain, get some things to change beforehand? Or perhaps if citizens do shut things down, will this force change to happen?
  17. :sunny:Welcome Back! :biker: How's life been treating ya, Rick?
  18. Best Wishes to you Nick, and to Kelsey in your life together! :nice::sunny::pleased:
  19. All this talk about money and market incentives finds its place, but when it all comes down, what matters most is being there for one another, sharing in the common good, principles over power. One cannot discount the collective conscious, that motivates beyond selfish desires, that aspires to no fame, but takes us to a higher plane. All the hard edges and firm packaging cannot bind this human spirit, for the spirit will not be contained. It is free by our actions, our thoughts, our feelings. It is transformative and undeniable, always ready and waiting for the moment to act upon.

  21. Hm.. sounds like it could be an excuse this time to "clear the streets." The Battle for Seattle took the authorities by surprise; to replicate in some fashion the gist of what worked, as far as tactics, or maybe that is too aggressive? Rubber bullets sting, what's the best shielding? Perhaps non-violence can win the day; with the eyes of the world watching, to win the hearts and minds of the fence sitters and those unaware, better to go defensive? Said too much already perhaps! But one cannot ignore the circumstances that lead to massive unemployment - the fact that it has gotten so bad in Spain is indicative of some seriously flawed thinking (or lack of thinking) on the part of those in charge.
