The simple pleasures of life. :]
I just indulged in a Hershey's bar. At 11:30 at night. Delicious, but not so good at this time. :P Kinda solves my annoyances at the moment. And if I still feel crappy, I eat more. But yes, food itself is such a pleasure. I don't just eat to live, I live to eat!

It's sad how something like power, something that was such greatness, can really turn ugly. Most of the people that have this privilege need to get their heads out of the clouds and realize they really need to take advantage of the power, and put it to good use. Instead of pointing fingers at others, help the ones that are affected, and try to build things up again. You have the ability, do it, ya know?

"On the other hand, she enjoys all sorts of little pleasures, putting her hand in a bag of seeds, piercing the crust of crème brûlée with the tip of a spoon. And play at ducks and drakes on the Saint-Martin-canal." I was inspired by the movie 'Amélie' to create this thread. What are some of life's simple pleasures that you enjoy so much? Ones that might seem so minuscule, but make you smile or feel happy? It doesn't have to be this big thing, maybe it's something that you do everyday, or something that only happens once in a blue moon. Anything is possible. Whatever you find joy in. I actually filled pages of my journal with simple pleasures. Here's some of mine: ~The smell of morning dew at 7 in the morning. ~Listening to my fully charged iPod. ~Being careful not to step on all the pretty snow in the yard, because I want it to be kept looking new. ~First sip of my tea. ~Cloudy days. It's like the blank sky is my canvas, and I can look out the window and dream, my imagination has no limits. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I love cloudy days at home. Some of mine might sound weird, but that's the beauty of your simple pleasures. It's YOUR simple pleasure, it's something that makes you happy. Please share yours. :)

I'd like to do all the things you mentioned. See, the thing is, 'power' is considered to be greedy or self-obsessed. But many people of the world want the power and money and status so they can actually do something for the world. Because realistically: can any average person really donate millions of dollars or commission the building of schools and hospitals in needy countries? In order to do such things they need the power, and although power can psychologically do harm on a person, it can also be seen as a way to actually make an actual difference; an actual addition to a world that is progressing. Encouraging people to do it is one thing, but actually putting your ideas into works, it takes some power.

soooo, how would you react to the line ...
If my child admitted to me that they were gay, yeah I'd be shocked. Whether it be that I saw it coming and didn't want to think about it or that I had no idea, I'd be pretty shocked. But I'm always going to love that child no matter what, and have to accept it. I can't tell them who they can't or cannot love. I would treat the person that my son/daughter is having a relationship with like a normal person. I'd act as if nothing is different, and they are just people. I wouldn't parade around going 'oh yes my child is gay', but if I so happened to have a conversation with a person and it came up, and they asked, I can't see why I have to lie.

What brands do you swear by?
Depends on what the item is. If they're jeans, I usually get them on sale. I got really great skinny jeans there for 50% off. But it's for like a shirt I don't mind spending some money on it, as long as it's going to be an investment in my wardrobe.

Less time doing_________.
Washing dishes I guess. It's pretty time consuming, and they get used and dirty again! I know what commercial you're talking about! It's like we spent two weeks tying our shoes in our lifetime. Wow. Maybe it's less for me, because I wear flats usually. But that's still a high number. I think it's the same amount of time we spent kissing in our lifetime too. But again, less for me. :P
