  1. Wow, I'm so glad I read that 'cause I totally agree with you. I keep reading how VLV seems to be so much more liked than VH, when for me, it's the opposite. Though both are different from the "traditional" Coldplay sound, in VH i feel a familiarity, maybe due to the presence of the piano??? While in VLV there's too much difference from the sound I love from Coldplay. Also I'm more a fan of guitars (love Jonny's solo in VH)...
  2. ooohkay. I think everyone needs to calm down a bit, and maybe reserve opinions about the whole album until we've all heard THE WHOLE ALBUM. I'm not so crazy about A Spell A Rebel Yell or Viva La Vida(song), but I looove Violet Hill. But I'm not ready to quit my Coldplay fandom based on 2 songs I'm not over the moon about. And I'm also a little nervous about what the rest of the album is going to sound like...change for the sake of change isn't always good. But good things can come out of it...and until we've heard the whole album, we can't judge it appropriately. imo :-) edit: Joshua Tree is my fave U2 album, I think, and I'm actually not so crazy about their first few albums. Individual songs from those albums, most definitely. But as single entities, Boy/October/War aren't on the top for me.
  3. AAAHH! i was just about to log off when I saw this pop up! Where did you find that clip???
  4. Around the time X&Y came out, I actually won tickets to a free gig at the Beacon in NYC. It was I think one of those AOL Live concerts. I was so excited:o LOL never won anything like that before, and for my fave band?!? It was a bleeping dream come true! I HAVE to go to the MSG show. Lightning can strike twice, right??? When they give tix away for this stuff it's so much fun, 'cause you know the people there are actual fans, not like at a regular show where half the people are there 'cause their signifcant other is a fan, or they're industry types who have season tickets or something...
  5. THAT's hilarious. I've gotten used to Chris's mumbled singing now, but in the beginning I had a hard time figuring things out. Never stopped me from singing along at the top of my lungs, though! First time I saw them in concert, in 2003, was the first time I realized how wrong I was singing most of the songs LOL
  6. I'm sure this is how VH started out...Chris comes over and says to the guys...what do you think of this...then each start adding their respective instruments...and we get the actual version. I think it shows what a great song it is that even stripped down it still sounds beautiful. That's what I love about Coldplay's music...it can be "simple" in a way, but always touching. I don't know how to explain it, I'm not a music person :)
  7. OMG, It's 6:33am here in New Jersey, and I'm reading this thread right before bed (I work nightshift). Since everyone is reporting hearing VH, I went to the NYC metro rock station site --KROCK--to see if it's on their playlist, and found out that they have an online only "alternative" station. And what comes out through my speakers??? A Rush of Blood to the Head! hehe I don't think I ever heard that on radio, even online stream only. Well, don't know if they're playing VH, but I did request it, so we'll see... P.S. And right after AROBTTH, they played REM's Supernatural Superserious, which wasn't it named after Chris's suggestions??? interesting...
  8. Just want to add my THANK YOU to the guys for the freebies (song & shows)! I actually squealed and jumped around when I first heard VH. I'm way too old to be acting like an idiot, but new Coldplay music inspires it in me. I use music like a form of therapy when I'm sad, happy, stressed, angry, etc, and Coldplay music is like a wonder drug! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!!!!
