looking back at when i was younger, i was so hopeful of what i could become and my potential to make a difference, a real difference. i knew there were "bad" people out there, and tonnes of negativity too, but as a very positive person who acknowledged the bad things but focused on the good, it was hard to accept the larger than life issues as i grew older, knowing i was in no position to make a dent. now, i do have frequent spurts of positivity, and in general i'm a happy, wide-eyed person, but when i think of all the crap happening to this world and the people around me, i get frustrated and adopt a "gosh i don't care anymore" attitude. i realise that i really can't change or control the world, but i can change and control myself. and it may sound cliche but it's a powerful and relieving realisation that gives me hope whenever i see the crap humanity is getting dragged through.
