  5. Coldplaying mentioned in the article! http://www.laprensasa.com/309_america-in-english/3715883_coldplay-fans-welcome-band-to-argentina.html Coldplay fans welcome band to Argentina ENTERTAINMENT MUSIC | 29 de Marzo de 2016 Buenos Aires, Mar 29 (EFE).- Excitement is building among Argentine fans eager to see the show to be staged by the British band Coldplay, newly arrived in this country, and are gathering outside the group's hotel to welcome the musicians and snap their pictures. The band arrived March 27 in the South American country and checked in at the same select Buenos Aires hotel where Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards stayed recently, and since then they have greeted the waves of fans wanting to meet them. The Twitter account @coldplaying, on which the band's fans post their messages, has for several days included photos of the group seen with fans, plus videos of the sound and light rehearsals leading up to the concert. On the social network Instagram, meanwhile, fans standing guard at the hotel post images of the musicians at the entrance, all smiles and warm greetings. Some months ago, the group's leader recorded a greeting for his Argentine fans in Spanish that roughly translates as "Hi, how're you doing? I'm Chris of Coldplay. We'll see each other in Buenos Aires in March, and we hope to see all of you." The video has been doing the rounds on social networks this week. The band kicks off its Latin American tour in Argentina with two shows at the Estadio Unico stadium in La Plata on March 31 and April 1. The Estadio Unico stadium was also the venue chosen by the Rolling Stones for their concert last February. __________________________ __________________________ ____________________________

  7. Exactly, if this is true I am hoping they play some older Bee Gees songs, Nights on Broadway, Massachusetts not just the disco ones.
  8. Awesome news! It will be a fabulous show, Loved the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb will be a great addition http://www.music-news.com/news/UK/96397/Barry-Gibb-to-jam-with-Coldplay-at-Glastonbury Barry Gibb is reportedly set to join band Coldplay during their closing slot at Glastonbury Festival. While the Bee Gees singer had been rumoured to making an appearance previously, he has now allegedly been invited to perform a medley of iconic Bee Gees hits with Chris Martin's group on the Pyramid Stage on June 26 (16) at Worthy Farm. Barry, 69, is the only surviving member of the Seventies band he founded with his brothers Robin and Maurice Gibb in 1966. The singer, songwriter and record producer rose to worldwide fame alongside his brothers as one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed groups in the history of popular music. A source revealed to British newspaper The Sun: “Chris was delighted to be asked to headline again but told Michael he wanted to bring some friends along, too. “Barry had already been asked to perform but didn’t have time to perfect a full set with his touring band. “As soon as Chris got wind he asked Barry if he wanted to come on stage with Coldplay," the source added. Coldplay will become the first group to headline the festival four times. They previously appeared in 2002, 2005 and 2011. But frontman Chris, 39, allegedly told Glastonbury's boss Michael Eavis he would only return if they could mix it up with guest appearances, like his recent slot at the Superbowl in February this year (16) where he performed with Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Thankfully Barry was keen on the idea: “He agreed straight away. The band are putting a Bee Gees medley together cramming in all of their classics. It’s going to be really special. There are likely to be a few other surprise guests on the night too, which are still to be decided," explained the source.
  9. Cool article on tech lighting stuff during the day http://www.etnow.com/news/2016/3/clay-paky-b-eyes-and-sharpys-go-centre-stage-at-super-bowl-50-halftime-show latest news headlines Clay Paky B-EYEs and Sharpys Go Centre Stage at Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show USA – Lighting designer Bob Barnhart, a veteran of Super Bowl Halftime Shows, chose Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K20s and gold Sharpys to help light the milestone Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Super Bowl Halftime Shows always come with challenges, and the daylight-into-sunset timing of this year’s entertainment made it: “Much more complex from a lighting standpoint,” Barnhart notes. “We had fewer fixtures than normally because of the ambient sun and the small portion of stadium lights we used.” It was Barnhart’s lighting design goal “to bring the kaleidoscopic colour from the LED floor on the Coldplay main stage into the entire stadium. That was the centrepiece of the creative approach: to make the stadium part of the show. That’s why we did a colourful card stunt with the fans and placed Color Bloc IIs on the railings. With a daylight Halftime Show you see the fans and the stadium, and we wanted to bring the show into the stadium.” He chose 36 B-EYE K20s for the pyro trusses/field carts upstage on the Coldplay stage, nine fixtures were placed on each of the four carts. “You could see all the B-EYEs close up; they looked like floor lights,” he says. “So we were able to draw up the video floor in close ups looking head-to-toe at Chris Martin. The B-EYEs made the colour palette on the floor appear in the close ups.” Clay Paky B-EYEs made their Super Bowl debut when Bruno Mars headlined the Halftime Show two years ago, notes lighting director David Grill. “They’re great! They give you a lot of options: large faces, beams, movement, effects. The scale of the B-EYEs, with their large faces, gives mass quantities of colour to individual pixels.” He also likes the B-EYEs’ low power consumption. “You can plug everything into one multi-cable,” says Grill. “You don’t need piles of cables and piles of power. That’s really useful when you have fast set ups.” Barnhart also placed six gold Sharpys on the Bruno Mars stage to add more movement to the lighting design there. The fixtures’ gold finish saluted the Golden Anniversary of the Super Bowl and “fit with Bruno’s warm, incandescent look,” says Grill. “It’s hard to get big beams in daylight,” Barnhart notes, “so we tried to limit our use of profile-type fixtures. But we used the Sharpys to add some dynamics” to Mars’s stage. PRG provided the Clay Paky fixtures. A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive North American distributor for Clay Paky. Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky area manager for North and Latin America, added: “It’s an honour to have been involved in so many Super Bowls, one of the highest profile television events in the world. Mr. Barnhart and Mr. Grill always do great work with our fixtures.” www.claypaky.it 21st March 2016
  10. http://lancasteronline.com/news/local/in-the-spotlight-nicole-erin-massey-travels-the-world-with/article_2dacc2d2-ec71-11e5-b6d2-836f0882eb6d.html Here's a nice article In the Spotlight: Nicole Erin Massey travels the world with big-name musical acts Nicole Erin Massey is in love with being on tour. Massey, who first appeared in “The King and I” on the Fulton at age 7, knew she was hooked after she danced in Bette Midler’s 1999 tour. “I wanted to do any job after that to keep me on the road,” says Massey, 39 Massey works as the production coordinator for Coldplay. She manages the crews’ schedules, makes the team’s travel reservations and keeps everything running smoothly. Before joining Coldplay’s team in 2012, Massey toured with the Backstreet Boys, the Cranberries, the Dixie Chicks, Enrique Iglesias, Madonna, Rod Stewart, Brian Setzer, Lionel Richie and Michael Buble, among others. Massey and her crew work up to 20 hours a day on tour, sometimes five days a week. She says there haven’t been too many odd tour requests, other than the Backstreet Boys needing a washer and dryer for their stage costumes and the Dixie Chicks bringing along a pilates reformer and instructor. Since adopting this lifestyle, Massey has mastered the art of packing light. She’s willfully wandered around cities all over the world and indulged in various local cuisines, including cow skin. (She wasn’t a fan.) She met her now-husband Dick (who played the drummer in the movie “The Commitments”) while on tour with Rod Stewart. They lived together in Ireland for six years before relocating to Lancaster last May. “Moving back to the city, it felt so nice,” Massey says. “It felt right.” Hometown: Lancaster. Education: Proud J.P. McCaskey Tornado. My family consists of: husband Dick, mother Linda, father Tom, sisters Shannon (husband David), Danielle (husband Sean), and Maddie. Between Dick and I, we have 17 nieces and nephews. Growing up, I wanted to be: Anything they told me I couldn’t be! My first job was: I worked the concession stand at Hershey Heritage Village pool in the summers. I was also doing theater from the age of 7, but I never thought of that as a job. What I love about being a production coordinator: My crew! We have upwards of 150 people and are a very big family. The most challenging part of being a production coordinator: My crew! We basically live and work together for months at a time. We have a lot of different personalities and it’s my job to keep everyone happy! Most memorable tour moment: There’s a tie … Dancing with Bette Midler at the stroke of midnight on the Millennium New Year’s Eve or hearing the band you work for (Coldplay) dedicating your wedding song (“Til Kingdom Come”) to you at Royal Albert Hall in London!! A book I’d recommend: “Here, There, and Everywhere” by Geoff Emerick, famed music engineer about his time with the Beatles. A movie I’d recommend: An oldie, but a goodie — “Dead Poets Society.” A TV show I’d recommend: It’s an English TV program called “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.” A song I have on repeat: “On a Day Like This” by Elbow. Favorite way to spend a day: With friends and family eating great food and drinking sake! Something you’ll always find in my refrigerator: Chili peppers. What I miss most about Lancaster: My bed! My idea of exercise: Flywheel (spin class) or Bootcamp. My guilty pleasure: Soft pretzels with nacho cheese. One thing I’d change about myself: I either want gray hair or not. This in-between stage is annoying! The best gift I’ve ever received: Meeting my wonderful husband. A person I really admire: My Aunt Kathy … she’s worked hard all her life and she’s always giving to her family, her community, and now her grandson! Favorite vacation spot: Thailand or Portugal. My parents always told me …: If you work hard, you can do anything you want! They never tried to stifle my dreams/creativity. The person I’d most like to have dinner with: George Harrison. Hobbies: Cooking, Manchester United and flea markets. Pets: I would love to have a dog someday, but it isn’t possible being on the road eight to nine months out of the year. If someone wrote a book about my life I would like the title to be: “Man, that girl had fun!” Three words that best describe me: Outgoing, organized and sometimes a bit outrageous!

  14. Seems like the trailer for X-Men : Apocalypse has remixed Coldplay's Don't Panic http://klli.cbslocal.com/2016/03/17/x-men-apocalypse-trailer-remixes-coldplays-dont-panic/ Those of us who enjoyed Coldplay‘s “Don’t Panic” back in the early 2000s might not have foreseen the day when it would feature in an ominous, apocalyptic movie trailer. That day has come! The trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse hinges on a dramatic remix of the song for maximum blockbuster effect. Remember Beyoncé’s vamped-up version of “Crazy In Love” from the 50 Shades of Grey trailer? It’s like that. The trailer also features Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and the other X-Men battling forces of destruction. It goes without saying that Coldplay is having a major moment—from headlining the Super Bowl halftime show to factoring into one of the biggest promotional campaigns of the year in film. Watch the trailer and hear the updated “Don’t Panic” below. Coldplay kick off a U.S. tour in July; see their tour dates at their official website.
