Recommend me an amp
Go for a tube-amp if you want good tone. I have a Blackheart Little Giant 5w, and it's perfect for practice.

Talk Sound
Sorry, i was thinking about that part afterwards. The part before the solo is just the telecaster with a little reverb and maybe slight dist i think.

Talk Sound
Isn't it his RAT?.. at least i get a very similar sound using it.

Johnny's is a Gibson J-185EC, and Chris's is a Takamine he's had since the Parachutes era.

Chris guitar in CSC?
I'm sure it's a Telecaster Deluxe from the 70's. They have humbuckers, a pickguard that doesn't differ that much from the thinline, and a strat-head. This model came to life together with the humbucker Thinline in '72

Chris guitar in CSC?
Isn't it just his Fender Telecaster Deluxe with humbuckers?

What is the point of using a capo, when no open strings are played?

Acoustic Guitar Strings
I don't see the point of starting with nylon if you plan to play steel-string later on. The neck is wider(making it very hard to play coldplay songs) and it has a whole other sound. You will never get to sound like your idols and their acoustic guitar. I started off with steel strings, and i'm so happy i did. I probably would have gotten bored with the dull sound. And remember, you can't put steel strings on a nylon-string guitar. It will pull the neck so much that it will get virtually unplayable, plus it sounds bad.

Acoustic Guitar Strings
I change the strings on my gibson hummingbird about every third week if i play alot. If not i can keep them longer. The same goes for my fender usa telecaster. On those two guitars i use standard strings(GHS and Ernie Ball) But on my yamaha and ibanez acoustic i use coated Elixir strings(cost a bit more, but not that much). They sound a little bit different, but last a very long time. I usually don't change them more often than every 4-6 months, even if they get played several hours every day. To answer your last question: Your fingers hurting might be an indication that your guitar has too high action, or that you haven't played steel-string guitar that long. Mine hurt too in the beginning, but now they have a hard tip that makes it real easy to play.

Acoustic Guitar Strings
Nylon or steel-stringed? On my "livingroom" steel-string guitar i use "Elixir phosphor bronze nanoweb .12-.53". They stay well sounding a LONG time.

"Sound isolator" for acoustic guitars?
Don't really know what they're called, but i just call it a soundhole plug. They're used on acoustic guitars with pickups, so that the majority of the sound comes from the pickup, and not the soundhole. This way the microphone in front of the guitar(vocals) won't pick up as much sound from the guitar. This is desirable when you want a separate channel for every instrument/voice..

Good acoustic guitar suggestions?
I was going to suggest a Gibson Hummingbird, but they are quite pricey. How about a martin D15 or OMC-15?. They're about a grand. The last one is the one chris uses on the live 2003 dvd. A great guitar with amazing sound both unplugged and with a pickup.. I'm getting one sooner or later at least :) If you want a guitar for under 500 bucks you should check out yamaha. Their guitars are great for the price! I have a Yamaha FG-720S and i love it.

The Ultimate Yellow Chords/Tab
Do you want the chords that chris plays, or just what different people think sounds best? I don't like the capo'd version at all, for some reason. Feel like it makes it go up, where it should go down.. When i play it solo with my acoustic i usually play it with open d# and keep the fourth string as it is (chris tunes his guitar EABGBD#).
