Yeah opera is a european thing...in english it just wouldnt sound right...we have english operas here, but the whole point of them to us are to be sung in a foreign languages...we like the sounds, the bravado attached to them, the songs themselves rarely have meaning cos we don't know whats actually being said :)

hehe nah, i knew the 1st two parts from school, had to read up on the last 2 parts when Ireland joined and left again :) Technically Britain was formed in the early 1600's when King James VI of scotland became King James I of England too, and the Stewart period began...but nothing i dont think was ever signed :D

yup Great Britain existed before the UK did, in 1536 England joined Wales to form England (ner ner welsh ppl :P), in 1707 Scotland joined to form Great Britain and in 1800 Ireland joined to form the United kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, consequently in 1922 the republic of Ireland was formed and removed itself from the UK, leaving it to be known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Btw Spain wasn't in a war with France, they were allied to France and Bavaria against Britain, Austria, Holland, Portugal and Denmark. We took the rock during the Spanish War of Succession...so it was wartime, and that's how we obtained it...seems fair enough considering the war started because the Spanish broke their word in the partition treaty of 1700...should the US give back the country to the Native Americans they conquered? I laughed my ass off yesterday when I read about this, Spain were declaring that a bayonetted march was a hostile act to Spain and the EU...roflmao...I'm glad we went through with it, and didn't bow to any pressure...the people from Gibraltar have said numerous times in vote that they are unanimously in favour of staying British... No sympathy for Spain here, their left wing government pulled out of Iraq leaving Polish Soldiers there to fend for themselves..Poland is part of the EU now, isn't that a hostile act on another EU member country too? 300 years have passed since Gibraltar became part of the UK, 500 years have passed since the Spanish launched an armada against us...we've forgotten that, or should we now try to pursue war crimes against them?
