  11. I don't know if I agree or not with you, not sure on your stance :) Personally, I'm wary of GM food, I'd like thorough testing before they even consider implementing it...no-one really knows the long term damage to wildlife or to ourselves from GM foods...no-one knows how devestating cross pollination will be when these things are introduced to our environment...there are so many grey areas that it isn't safe. I'm worried about even a small test area, it would need to be totally enclosed and safe so it can't spread to other areas...bees and flies can get anywhere...as we always find to our dismay on camping trips :) So that's my views.

  13. Well Carla I answered your PM regarding the US trial fields, and as far as i know that's still true....all foods in europe that contained GM ingredients were removed a few years ago until thorough testing is performed...since Nestlé are producing food in the EU I'll bet they withdrew their foods too... Are products more expensive? I don't know, I'm guessing some may be, some will be the same and some will just be withdrawn from sale... An example i can give is this...I used to enjoy crisps from Sainsbury's (supermarket). One day they changed from soya to GM-soya produce...I still ate them, then about 2 years ago the product just vanished...I'm guessing it was due to the GM-soya, and until there is more GM testing they wont reintroduce them.
  14. UK by itself is the worlds 4th largest economy, don't need europe to get us up near the top :) China have the potential to be the world's largest economy but they'd need a major social reform to do it...the country is still essentially communist, they have a wary attitude to the west...they have a lotttt of poor people, working in the countryside who's contribution to the economy won't be huge...I'm not sure about the countries infrastructure, but I'm betting outside the major cities it's very lacklustre...I remember I read some frightening statistics regarding China and air-travel and cars...something like 60% of air crashes occur over China because of their internal air service...and China own 2% of the worlds cars but are responsible for 20% of the worlds traffic deaths.
  15. Nice to see other pics of Philly, reminds me of when I was there :) Spent a weekend there, ate at TGIs which was just opposite my hotel...took the guided trolly tour thing around philly...got to see new Jersey over the river (err yay) LOLOL

  21. my ex girlfriends sister had MS, and the symptoms you described made me instantly think of that...she led a normal life tho, just had to rest on occasions when the fatigue kicked in...it's only recently that MS has been medically recognised and accepted...my form teacher when I was 12 was diagnosed with it (1989) and just disappered from school. http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?objectid=CEC491ED-C3B3-4B39-9E747386136032B4&dsection=2 :/
