  1. Maybe you meant someone else, but I never called you "a special snowflake" fyi.
  2. I too, am with Greg. I don't think it's a stretch to say Reilly was among the 2-3 most important figures on this forum (now and historically). I've frequented this forum for a very long time, spending many, many hours of my life on posts in a gesture of faith that my efforts would be rewarded. Too often it was reilly's wit and desire for meaningful discourse that kept me here. I'm not questioning the Admin's authority or justification for banning Reilly (and I don't say this out of fear of being booked for dissent, for I genuinely don't give a fuck anymore), what I will say is that the friendliest, funniest, most intelligent, most entertaining, most authentic, and most enlightening people I have had the pleasure to meet...the people most devoted to engendering a meaningful, attention-worthy forum experience for others have consistently ended up on the ocean floor with their feet encapsulated in cement (added that for color). There were periods of outrage in the past (no need to name names) for fear of things escalating, fear of the lifeblood of the lounge being sucked dry, but I find it impossible to be angry, because there's almost nothing left to salvage or to lose. With all respect to the lovely people who remain here, and who I've known and enjoyed for as long as I've been on this forum, if I leave this forum, it won't be a sacrifice, or an act of protest, it will be because I honestly don't see the point. The forum's been dying for years, and just as I thought the bleeding had clotted, it suffers a stroke. This probably won't be my last post, but I'm putting my shoes on. I'll still be on tumblr and facebook. Thanks for all the fish.
  3. Terry gets away with an obvious handball in the box you could see confidently from a wide-view camera.
  4. Koscielny kicked in the head/face during Fenerbahce match. Bleeding and a possible concussion.
  5. Formal poetry is cool but Haiku's can be really annoying
  6. Sturridge with first goal of the season. Hard drive from outside the box.
  7. I really don't care, but as far as the general public is concerned, the old 'half your age + 7' formula seems about right.
  8. Give 'Oh, Inverted World' a ride.
  9. Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore with a hat trick today (including a stunning FK in the upper corner) which makes 5 consecutive caps with a goal for the USMNT. He was also a blunder short of a hat trick in a pre-season friendly against Spurs (1 of only 2 pre-season matches I could find). Basically, his fantasy stock is (or should be) soaring.
  10. Obviously, irl discoveries are funnier/more interesting, but I found this: http://wifilol.com/ :edit: oh hey, guess its popular.
  11. Zaha's set to full showboat, trying desperately to impress. Wigan are bypassing common sense out of refusal to make this exciting.
  12. some of those adverts are hysterical:
  13. Yeah, I'm thrilled as I'd be resigned to a tough season without a new attacking option. Still trying to see how the system will work once Bent comes in, as we've been fielding a 4-4-1-1 in pre-season friendlies and for most of last season. Ruiz is not as effective as Duff or Dejagah on the wing, but the only other way of starting Ruiz, Berba, and Bent at the same time would be a diamond 4-4-2 (which would be weird knowing Jol). --- Stoke seems to be trying to tap into the American market by striking a deal with Juan Agudelo (Young American forward who scored the tying goal in a friendly against Argentina where Messi had half the field stumbling after him like high school boys at Prom), set for the winter window. They already have 2 other US INT's: Geoff Cameron, and Brek Shea, who scored two game winners this last Gold Cup despite being piss poor a large percentage of the time.
  14. Americans (myself included) have a built-in, pathological fear of those things.
  15. Fulham bring in Adel Taaraabt on loan. A hothead, yes, but gonna make this next season far more entertaining. I expect Bryan Ruiz to keep his AMC role with Adel filling for the injured Kacaniklic on the left wing.
  16. Goldmund and The Dead Texan. Yum.
  17. sooper dooper late, but I finally got around to this. The accent exceeded expectations.
  18. ^I was waiting for someone to weigh in on Bale. I've heard from Spurs fans who are still adamant (mostly because of Levy's comments) that he's staying or ought to stay, but surely they're getting the better end of the deal. For half of that price, they could add a world class left back and attacking mid to put them head and shoulders above Arsenal. :edit: Welp, Villas-Boas says it ain't happening. In related news, they've given Dempsey over to the Seattle Sounders just a day or two after twitter convinced us that it was a farce: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/02/night-twitter-convinced-us-clint-dempsey-was-going-seattle-sign-sounders-exc As for Fulham: It's looking increasingly likely that we're going to sign Darren Bent (over Newcastle) who is probably a better signing then it sounds considering his goal record after Aston Villa made us all forget he exists, certainly better than Petric or Rodallega. We've also signed a decent (and desperately needed) center-back and DM, both of which are good on paper, but haven't impressed much in friendlies. Bids are being made left and right for another defensive-minded midfielder with what's left of the less than heavy funds that our new owner has given us.
