  1. No, every time I see them together in photos or whatnot, they look so sweet. Plus, he wrote her a song, which in my experience is one heck of a relationship cementer. :) Of course, it doesn't hurt that the guys are all punching way above their weight in the relationship category, and that all the wives/girlfriends seem laid back and cool.
  2. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su-mcPINFAI]TOMAKOOOOUUUUU - YouTube[/ame] It's in spanish which somehow makes it even funnier to me. (or maybe I'm just really tired) There's part of this episode with a crazed sheep, but I can't find a clip of it online. :\
  3. None of them really strike me as the type that would anyway, but yeah.
  4. Especially for someone like Guy. After all, he is considered the "sexy" one. To the very limited extent that he and Jo have spoken public ally about their split, It's pretty clear it had to do with his fame and schedule.
  5. It really is hard to have any kind of normal family life in any line of work that requires you to be out on the road a lot. And frankly, it also has to be really hard to maintain a normal relationship with the added pressures of the 1000s of women who would in no uncertain terms make themselves -ahem- available to any of the boys should they want it. I've seen the toll that takes when I used to work around bands (even in cases where both partners were 100% faithful). It strains trust to a huge degree. Anyway, I guess this is my roundabout way of saying Guy seems to have suffered the most relationship wise from the lifestyle of being in a band, and if he's happy now in that respect, it makes me glad. :)
  6. I just happened to have Youtube open for an alternate purpose. It's the top hit for "jonny buckland sheep". ;)
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAeCvYlbETc]Jonny Buckland and his best story ever! - YouTube[/ame] :)
  8. This makes two dates in a row he's missed with them though (though admitedly, the first was because of his "day job" :P) Perhaps he's parted ways with them or something? Or else he's like Neil Young in CSN&Y and just shows up when he feels like it.:laugh3: He probably just wants to spend a little time with his friends and family after being on the road most of the year though. I don't blame him, that's what I would want too. Incidentally, is their fill in bass player just a session guy, or is it someone known for an outside musical project like the rest of the group?
  9. That's clearly a Jazz Bass! :P (It's the one Guy plays on the C-Stage BTW)
  10. So far the only Apparatjik show he didn't play on was when Coldplay had a show on the same day, so probably.
  11. Whatever. We'll obviously have to agree to disagree. I've been to around that same number of shows (I don't keep exact count anymore), with at least one show per tour since AROBTTH in 2002, and that's not been my experience at all, most especially over the last couple tours. Sure, in the early days he was staid and laid back on stage (not all that unusual for Bassplayers BTW), but that's a long way from bored IMHO. It's just like people who criticize the crowd for not jumping around or singing along, not everyone presents excitement/enjoyment in the same way.
  12. You're of course entitled to your opinion, but you're still wrong. :)
  13. bulls*&t! He always looks like he's having the time of his life up there. He may not jump around like Chris, but he's always grooving to the music. Heck, he's even greatly improved his stage style of the last couple tours. He smiles and makes eye contact a lot more than he used to. Does this look like he doesn't want to be there?: As for his bass playing, he's a solid player, just not a flashy one.
  14. Roadie #42's identity is not unknown. His real name is Miller and he's the band's keyboard/MIDI tech and archivist. He's also the one who takes the panorama shots before every gig.
  15. In fairness, all of the band members' playing trends toward minimalism. Jonny usually plays fairly restrained rhythm style parts, and Will doesn't really even play Tom fills. They're all more technically sound then may be readily apparent, or that they're given credit for.
  16. And that doesn't even cover his work as a synth player/programmer, which has had a considerable contribution on all of the band's work post X&Y. Bands with umpteen lineup changes become little more than glorified cover/tribute bands IMHO.
  17. Not one of the bands you mention sound the same today as they did during their "classic line-up" eras. Bands can change members, but they can never perfectly re create the chemistry that used to be. Smart bands don't even try, that's why they often go in a whole different stylistic direction than they had with their old members. Keep in mind it's not just about playing the bass, it's about writing the basslines, which someone else would never get exactly the same, no matter what. You can't actually see the Who these days, only a band that contains two of it's members (and probably not the two people would choose if they could to boot.)
  18. Fair enough, but that still doesn't mean he's easily replaceable.
  19. Allow me to respond with a big fat "so what!'. He's documented as being shy, so maybe he was uncomfortable in the room full of "ecstatic fans" Or Maybe he was on his phone because he was dealing long distance with some sort of personal issue . Or any one of a billion other things. All of that has less than zero bearing on his skill as a musician, his skill as a producer, or his value to the band. being "a dick" (and I'm in no way convinced that Guy is), does not make him "totally replaceable" (especially now, when his production abilities play a fairly big role in shaping their current output.) I play bass, and hang out on a few bass forums, and Guy's playing is the only member thing about the band that I've actually heard praised by hipster music snob types who ordinarily wouldn't go near Coldplay with a ten foot pole. He's no slouch on the Bass. Not one of the 4 members of the band (no, not even Chris) is an exceptional musician in the scheme of things, but the band wouldn't sound the same without any one of them.
  20. I'm by no means a supporter of putting undue attention on the band's families and/or children (in fact I believe that their children should be more or less "off limits"), but this particular fact is hardly secret knowledge. I mean, her birthdate is easily found in about a million web biographies of Guy.
  21. This is just my opinion, but I don't really get the general divide between "old Coldplay" and "new Coldplay" people seem to make. From my perspective every single one of their 5 albums has a unique sound. Parachutes is primarily acoustic driven, AROBTTH is firmly in the post Brit-pop alt rock genre, X and Y has strong post punk influences and very little piano or acoustic guitar, VLVODAAHF grafts baroque pop and world music influences onto the Coldplay sound, and MX has electronic and dance pop influences. They're actually pretty versatile IMHO. I actually like their recent work quite a bit because they actually sound like a 4 piece band now, as opposed to their early work which I've always felt revolved a bit too much around Chris and his acoustic guitar.
  22. Even that may be an overestimate. Often when these things are calculated they don't fully take into account seats that were never actually offered for sale due to production demands etc. There's also the issue of last minute blocks released for similar reasons which often don't sell because people are unaware they're available. This tour has been a huge step upward for Coldplay's already formidable live draw.
