  1. Anything with as much new style to it as the new album is bound to have something of a mixed reaction TBH. Personally, I dig most of the new stuff. Madness is probably as close to early 90's U2 as I've ever heard any band come (and that includes subsequent U2), which in my book is about the highest praise I can offer something. I'm also really digging Chris' songs, which gives the band a whole new dimension to draw on going forward.
  2. I'd of pegged you as a proponent of such measures. :) Definitely much harder to get tickets for them this go around.
  3. He can enjoy himself all he wants without looking like a middle aged fisherman thankyouverymuch! :P
  4. Well, that's probably going a bit too far. :laugh3: But it's worth pointing out that there are reasons that bands tend not to tour certain areas until they can fill massive venues.
  5. Well, that's the essential problem with money everywhere, but that's not the issue I was talking about. The perspective I'm writing from is that of someone who used to work in the live music industry (admittedly on a small scale.) and still hears things from friends in that line of work. Talk to most anyone who works tours and they'll tell you more or less the same thing I am. I'm not saying this to offend you, honest. :)
  6. Exactly. as a market SA is really opening up, which is a good thing for those that live there and want live shows. :)
  7. A great live draw for the right acts in the right cities, yes. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a major profit center yet. In business terms, it doesn't really matter what your draw is, only revenue - costs, just the same as every other business in the world.
  8. IMHO it's no different then when people were mad they did the iTunes commercial. So what if it's promoting a product? They were both primarily promoting Coldplay's own product, which I personally see nothing wrong with whatsoever.
  9. Actually, South America still isn't considered a real profit center in the touring industry. Although tickets are often expensive in the local currency, you have to factor in the exchange rate of the local money, to US $ or GPB or whatever. It's also far more expensive to freight all the gear to South America and then from county to country within (this also applies to some other regions like Australia.) and I've heard from people I know who work with tours that it's a lot harder to rent any backline equipment there, so most everything needs to be freighted. South America is an emerging market for live concerts, and in 10 or so years could well turn out to be an important region for touring, but honestly (and I don't mean this as offense to you guys who are from there. :)), it's just not there yet.
  10. You do realize that tentative plans can be made and then fall through, yes? Unless and until there's actually official confirmation, it's all still rumors and hearsay.
  11. Slane's awfully late in the year for them to play. Even if they do play 2013 dates, I'm not sure they'd want to go 7 or 8 months in based on all the indications we have about their touring plans. (unless they took an extended break in there somewhere. :)) I think they might be into doing it, they've always spoken highly of the previous time they played Slane in 2001, coming back as a headliner could be something they'd want to do.
  12. South America just isn't a big enough concert market to warrant the kind of touring your talking about. Even most countries in Europe get 1 or 2 cities hit per tour. The same for most US states (which geographically speaking are comparable to a lot of European countries.) I totally understand you want to see them, but the reality is there's no way a major global tour is going to go from city to city in Chile. 1 or 2 dates in the most major cities is more realistic.
  13. I looked through all the photos on that gallery, and there was one other photo of Will besides the group shot, but not the photo of him with his arms in the air, or any of the photos of him and Marianne together that have appeared on Tumblr. As an aside, that photographer is amazing, his work is really exceptional.
  14. Far from the clearest picture of Guy, but a great action shot. :) Apologies for the overlarge size, but I can't get the post to save with the resized photo for some reason. Ugh!
  15. Is that Vickie Taylor? I found this in the photos of the arrivals of Gwyneth's birthday party amidst the photos of the rest of the boys and their SO's. It sure looks like her to me, but I don't see why she would draw pap attention. Unless the woman in the back is a celebrity I'm not recognizing.
  16. Eh, IMHO since they're clearly intended as public photos, I don't see what's controversial. If they were private photos someone found and posted or they were photos of their children, then I'd say not cool. Just my two cents...
  17. Sadly, no I cannot. :( It was years ago (sometime during the viva tour), and he posted a series of irate tweets asking after his post. They were pretty funny for their copious profanity. (or maybe it was just funny for my mental image of Miller going off.)
  18. Personally, I've always thought Will looked a bit like Statham. They've got the same build, the same hairline (or lack thereof as the case may be), similar facial structure etc. The do look fairly similar IMHO.
  19. No, I'm just afraid he may be in the beginning stages of trying to grow it back. It makes him look like a middle aged sailor, instead of his usual dashing self.
  20. All of their shoes for this tour look really similar, except for Guy's. As I recall from the liveblog though, Chris had about a half dozen pairs, compared to two for Will and Jonny and one for Guy, so maybe one of them is identical.
  21. Guy always looks serious (except when he looks drunk :P) Keshia I've honestly not seen enough to have an opinion, though IMHO she often does look a bit out of her element. (which makes perfect sense in a lot of the contexts she's been publicly photographed in with Guy)
  22. After some of the things he's publically tweeted to that shipping company when he was waiting on his post, he doesn't seem like a guy you want to f&^k with. ;)
  23. She's wearing Crocs, but hey, good on her for being comfortable. :laugh3: I can't say I've overly fond of JB taking his beard back toward ZZ top territory in those photos, but on the plus side Mrs. Buckland was looking beautiful (as always)
  24. She's posh for sure, but she does seem fairly grounded, intelligent, and warm by Hollywood standards. Plus, nine years for a celebrity marriage is like 90 for regular people, so they're doing super. :laugh3: From what I heard, Will did write the lyrics to the song. He's also generally given credit for writing Death Will Never Conquer and The Goldrush. He seems to me like he would be the most likely after Chris to be a lyricist, but who knows for sure?
